From Numi Organic Tea

Ages before the birth of humanity, when ice still covered the earth, a family of high-mountain Camellia plants thrived. From these, the tea bush traces its noble lineage.
Our whole leaf Temple of Heaven – Gunpowder Green Tea is gently steamed within hours of being plucked, then skillfully hand rolled into small tight pearls. This process preserves its delicate flavor and aroma far longer than other green teas. Steeped in hot water, the leaves unfurl, releasing a well-rounded, full-bodied flavor. Rich in fluoride, calcium, and anti-oxidants – and with very little caffeine – this is a perfect choice to greet the evening.

I never tried a non-japanese green tea before, frankly because I thought the Japanese were the only ones who could do it right. It appears that I’ve been very sadly mistaken, this stuff tastes really good and has a lot of flavor. My world and all my beliefs are being destroyed with each new cup of tea that I drink. I don’t know myself anymore.

I love a cup of good whole leaf green tea, straight and full-bodied, and this is it.

Day 4 tea from Numi’s Christmas-Countdown calendar.

Underwhelming, but not unpleasant. I’m not keen on Gunpowder greens, but I can drink them. I wonder, though, if a stronger flavor wouldn’t have made this less tolerable to me.

I’ve tried all sorts and brands of green tea and Numi Gunpowder is still my favorite. Nothing beats that mellow, smokey essence. So relaxing.

I received this one year ago or so from Madeline, so take note how to not take care about cupboard. Thank you, if you ever read this.

I am sleepy today, although I slept fairly well and better than last days. I woke up as usual at 4 am, but I felt back asleep quickly. But still tired…

This tea I have prepared mostly because I wanted a caffeine boost and without fuzz. Honestly, the tea bag delivers both.

I had about 76°C water prepared in glass mug when I have added the tea bag. After short, two minute steep, I got a cup of nice grassy and full-bodied tea, but somehow flat. I guess it is because it is plain green tea and tea bag.

I haven’t noticed any smoke as many others, it was rather similar to oolong with mineral notes.

Hmmm, nah. The tea itself is pungent and kind of astringent brassy-grassy but the smokiness is dull. I would prefer it to match the pungency of the green tea. Pretty dull aroma, too. Not my thing.

Too smoky. And sometimes it tastes like cigarette butts. The only way this is drinkable for me is if I add lots of water. Three times more than for most cups. Then it tastes like any other green tea.

This is a mild, smooth green tea. Very drinkable, but rather forgettable. I brewed it for a while with a couple splashes of cold water. It wasn’t bitter or astringent, but wasn’t particularly remarkable.

gunpowder green teas are ok in my opinion

I haven’t tried very many of them. I might be more interested in the future. Green teas aren’t my mos favorite, though.
