From Mandala Tea

First flush spring leaves are picked and roasted for this classic “rock” or “cliff” style tea which comes from the Wu Yi Mountains in Fujian Province, China. This stunning area has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the abundance of different species and cultural importance of its tea growing tradition.

Rou Gui translates literally to cinnamon or cassia. The dry leaves give a distant impression of the spice and once they are rinsed it becomes more apparent. Short gong fu-style steepings produce a clear and peach-hued liquor. This oolong earns its nick name with magnificent almond milk, toast, and cinnamon flavors that persist in the mouth after each sip. We find ourselves picking up the gaiwan again and again to behold this mesmerizing tea.

Wow, a lovely sweet spice wuyi medium roast oolong!
I’m planning a Mandala order, with that said, sipping down all the samples I have just in case I want to order more of those samples! (or in a few cases, setting aside to review for Oolong Owl)

I believe I requested this sample an order or two ago. Very delicious oolong, I love how sweet it is, with interesting milky quality to it. Resteeps nicely with no dryness. Quite addicting of a tea as well. I’d say this is one of the nicest medium roast oolongs, however I personally prefer a darker, richer roast. (OMG Mandala’s Big red robe is amazing!)

Does anybody want to buy my Harley? 1200C sportster, in excellent condition. I just can’t find time to ride anymore, plus my allergies make me tippy, if you know what I mean.

This is a lovely tea. Beautiful brown leaves, like dark chocolate, with mahogany highlights. The dry aroma is like dried apricots & fragrant wood.
per Mandala’s suggestions: 1 Heaping Tb + 8oz X 30 sec
Beautiful Wuyi aroma, sweet & roasty good. Hints of sea salt caramel in the cup, with a sweet cinnamon after taste & aroma.
45 sec – a little bolder, slightly tart & tangy, with a growing taste of raisen, makes me think of cinnamon dusted pastry, or maybe cinnamon raisen bread.
1min – a sweet & mellow cup of goodness. This is the cup I’m on right now, & it is tasty!

Glad you are digging it! We had one customer claim that this tea “stopped time” during a gongfu session. Love that. Making wishes for relief from your allergies, my friend!

Beautiful when not overbrewed. Tasted more like almond skins to me than almond milk.
