This is my second free sample from Joy’s teaspoon. This tea is very tasty. It is exactly what’d you expect based on its description.

I brewed it with 1.5 tsp per 12 oz for 3.5 min to ensure that the black base didn’t get bitter. It had no bitterness or astringency after 3.5 min.

I’d love to see this same tea on a white tea base.

I really like this one! I ordered a tin of it!

Kristin

I think I would order a tin if it was a white tea. :) But yeah, it’s pretty darn good.

There is nothing subtle about this tea! It’s in your face pear and cinnamon. It’s a good thing I like both of those. The pear is nice and natural. We have pear trees in the back yard and I love eating them in the fall, so this evokes harvest memories. The cinnamon is slightly artificial, but not so much so as to be a complete turn off. I added a little brown sugar in hopes of toning down the connamon and making it a little more complex. I think I’ll have to add a pinch more. I don’t taste the base, but being as there is no bitterness or astringency I’m ok with that.

This tea is so delicious. I had some tea noobs over for a visit and they just loved it. The pear flavor is subtle but it is the perfect pear, not too sweet and not too tart! In the midwest it is well past good pear season so this is a truly exceptional treat! I also really like the cinnamon taste with black tea, a never fail combination in my book! So yummy!

This was fantastic! Which is why I’m glad I finally got online to order a larger amount (I only had a sample size). The flavors just exploded in my mouth and I could not get enough! I really think this will need to be a staple in my cupboard.

Smells so, so, so good. I love a good pear as much as and sometimes even more than a perfect apple (seriously, I think 3/4 of my dessert recipe files are pear-based), so I had high hopes for this one. Also some trepidation though, ‘cause I’ve found I can’t stand apple in tea for some strange reason (despite loving apples otherwise). So I was a little afraid. This has the juiciness and magic of a pear combined with lots of warm holiday-ish spices, particularly cinnamon. And…I don’t hate it, I like it a lot! Yay! That painful astringency apple tends to bring doesn’t show up here. Eventually you even get the slightly reed/woody mouthfeel of having eaten a juicy pear (which some of my friends hate but I adore). This is a tea that automagically puts me in a good mood.

I am looking for a good spicy pear tea! I will have to give this a try.

Pears are the best! So far I’ve been pleased with the quality of Joy’s Teaspoon’s flavored stuff—the fruit flavors all feel authentic and not artificial, and the spices are bright and taste fresh.

I would totally be up for sampling you up (I think pretty soon I’m going to delve into the wild world of mail swap!) but I’ve only got 1 cup left—I tried this as part of the Ocho Sample Pack, where you get to try 8 teas of your choice, with each sample being enough for 2 cups.

Chelle

Yes, I’ve done one swap (on a music forum of all places) and it was great fun. Well more of a tea circle with 8 members and a box full of samples!

I got this in Joy’s Teaspoon’s going out of business sale. Always a shame to see a tea company disappear.

I love how “spicy” doesn’t just mean cinnamon in this tea. There are also whole cloves mixed in with the cinnamon chips. Clove isn’t listed in the description, but it also says it’s made by an outside blender, so maybe the description isn’t up to date or something. Not that it matters anymore, I suppose.

This came out a bit milder than I expected. I’m definitely going to have to be more heavy-handed with my scoops. The pear flavor takes a backseat to the spices. But it’s there and it’s nice. I can taste both the peel and that sort of rich note that makes a ripe pear so good.

Anyway, if you want to try this, you’d better be quick. There’s still some in stock, but I don’t know for how long…

I remember going to Butiki’s site and seeing their announcement they closed. It is sad. :(

Orphia

It sounds lovely. I hope I get to try it soon, since I’m still waiting on mine and it’s been over two weeks now.

Tabby

@Orphia Oh, that can’t be good. Have you emailed them?

Orphia

@Tabby I did a little over a week ago, and was told that they had printer problems so all orders were on hold. Since then I haven’t heard anything else.
