Backlog and Sip Down

I brewed this mid-shift on Friday since it was one of those days that I needed a lot of caffeine. I nearly forgotten that I’m currently working on a project reviewing all the matcha teas in my collection via YouTube, but I was in the zone to get my fix. Ha-ha.

I noted on the back of the packet, “Cinnamon/ginger spice yet creamy.” I made it as a latte, so the milk probably gave it the creamy note. I did enjoy it overall and made sure to write my rating of “75/100.”

I am not a matcha person, something about the powderedness is un-tea like to me. Skysamurai sent me this one and I thought I’d try it out. At first sip this is too sweet for me. And at second sip. But there is some nice cinnamon and warming clove going on here too. I’d drink this for a morning caffeine boost, but its not going to find its way into my shopping cart.

The chai flavor here is super strong, so I can’t really taste the matcha, which is okay. Unfortunately, the flavoring they used isn’t one I prefer. It seems to veer almost entirely in the red hot cinnamon direction, and I prefer my chai to have more nuance than that. I used my entire advent sample for a big cup of this, and after a few sips, I was quite tired of it. I decided to make overnight oats with the rest of it. Cinnamon goes well with peanut butter, so it turned into a decent lunch. I wish I’d turned that lavender honey matcha from the other day into something tasty instead of chugging it.

(DavidsTea 2022: 76)
2022 Sipdown 77/365!

I don’t have any matchas that start with F, so picked this one from the advent calendar instead. I’ve only tried the Vanilla Chai version before, but expected similar spicing here, and maybe a stronger flavour – and I was right. As with all my “lattes”, because it’s easier, I used the entire (15?) gram pouch in a nordic mug, filled about 3/5 with hot water and 2/5 with cold milk – and this was the first time that I thought that it could perhaps stand to be a bit more diluted! However, I appreciated this, as I prefer the flavour to be stronger so it’s not drowned out by the milk. Overall, I liked this matcha but prefer regular chai lattes, so will probably stick to those.

This was one of the matchas leftover from the 24 Days of Matcha Advent Calendar 2021 and I have to say I loved it way more than I anticipated. It has a ton of sugar in it, so I recommend making a latte. It was just the right amount of spice to green flavor, neither overpowered the other. It is very sweet though! I used vanilla almond milk (frothed) and made an iced latte.

Matcha + chai is an intriguing flavor combination. Thinking of mixing a little bit of my Spice House Vanilla Chai Mix with regular matcha to replicate this flavored matcha.

Tea #2 (I think?) for my “Revisiting my older teas challenge” this December season. (I’m going to try and do a couple more and get my tea number up to today’s date.)

I know this seems like a strange one to not have touched in so long, but it’s probably since the beginning of the year. I stopped drinking this one when I became obsessed with gingerbread matcha from DAVIDsTEA, and this one definitely took a back seat.

This tea is SO good. I don’t know why I didn’t finish it earlier, but now that I am remembering how good this one is, I’m definitely going to be drinking this one more often again, until it’s gone, which honestly won’t take very long. I don’t have a ton left.
It’s sweet as DT matchas tend to be, but it’s got a nice spice flavour with it which I’m truly loving. Very nice chai flavours. So good! Made this as a hot latte and I’m sure glad I did!

Found this on sale and bought 50g for an absurdly low price (under $5 for 50g). So my order came today (along with four pouches of toasted walnut, the tea I was so scared I wouldn’t be able to get more of since it was retired).

I brewed 2 tsp in a mug of cold soy milk and this made for an excellent sweet and creamy cold drink. You mostly taste sweet and very flavourful creamy soy milk and almost no green tea. No bitterness either. One of the best matchas I’ve tasted because it isn’t bitter and it is very flavourful.

Toasted walnut is so great. I was sad to hear it’s leaving.

Maybe I should have picked up some chai matcha! I decided not to, since I didn’t want to be stuck with 50g of something I wasn’t sure of.

Re: Toasted Walnut – I believe there are similar alternatives available from other companies, so you might be able to find a replacement once it’s gone. Also, watch out because the walnuts go rancid (I don’t remember offhand if there’s also coconut.)

I’m on “order hiatus” but had to make a similar panic order for Movie Night. _;; And it’s even worse for me because I’m going through a move right now and in the process of packing up my teas! Tea companies, why you do dis?

Oh man, I’d love to stock up on some of that Coconut Cream Pie before I lose it forever. :/

This flavored matcha made me SING, it was so good! And the fact that it finally started feeling like fall this week in NC made it all the more delicious. I whisked 2 ounces of 160 degree F water with 3 perfect matcha spoonfuls of this Chai Matcha + 1 perfect matcha spoonful Grand Cru Matcha then split it into 2 latte cups, and then whisked in 7 ounces of frothed, warm vanilla almond milk into each cup. An absolutely luscious, tummy-warming, flavored chai latte.

It reminds me of a wonderful chai drink I make from scratch with cardamom pods, coriander seeds, etc., which I got from The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen Cookbook by Katz. But this chai matcha latte is a little less time intensive.

I’m going to have to stock up on a lot of this stuff, because I’m sure it’s seasonal, and I will want this all year round.

I was intrigued by the sounds of this as a latte, so naturally, I had to place an order online to get some of it to try. And also buy all the cute fox items that came out. If there was a fox on it, it was mine (Foxes are my second favorite animal-Dogs are my ultimate 1st). I must say that I was actually pretty disappointed in this one made as a latte. It tasted “chalky” to me and I like the Chai spices to kick-me-in-the-face with how strong they are and this one was so mild that I could barely taste it! On the plus side, I made some for my sister and am happy to report that it will not go to waste as she loves this one! It’s so funny how we all have different tastes!
