From DAVIDsTEA

Looking to get away from all the hustle and bustle? There’s nothing more relaxing than the sunny Caribbean. Swaying palm trees, soothing waves and soft white sand…it’s the perfect little escape. And we have your one way ticket right here. With juicy pineapple, fresh papaya and yummy cranberries, this sweet and tangy tea is the ultimate tropical fruit punch. It’s like being on the beach without even leaving the city. The only thing missing is a little paper umbrella…

Ingredients: Pineapple (pineapple, sugar), apple, papaya (papaya, sugar), cranberry (sugar, cranberry, rice flour, sunflower oil), hibiscus, artificial flavouring.

Hmm, not really sure why it’s called ‘Caribbean" Crush as I’m not really getting that much in the way of tropical flavours from this tea. Well I get some pineapple, but mostly I just taste sweet cranberry and hibiscus. It’s not bad – certainly it’s appreciated on a hot afternoon – but it isn’t really anything new or special either.

Iced Tea Sipdown (235)

I’ve had this tea but I didn’t remember this tea. It blends with so many other fruity blends by DAVIDs in my mind. It’s sweet and generically fruity but also has that touch of waxiness that a lot of DAVIDsTEA blends have. Fine but nothing special which could explain why I don’t remember it well. I only got it again because it came in a sample pack with other teas I wanted to try. That’s likely the only reason I would get it again in the future.

AJRimmer

Ha yeah this is definitely one that appears in many of their sample packs so I’ve had it several times without explicitly buying it is well!

tried this one from davids the other day. not a fan. It reminds me of those artificial punches you can get, just more watered down. it’s not terrible, but it’s nothing i would ever reach for again. this is much more apple like…maybe a little cranberry…but there isn’t much pineapple or papaya. oh well, good to try at least.

I got this as a cup to go of iced tea because I had a coupon! They added just a smidgen of agave sweetener

I got that this is a tropical fruit punch but I found apple and cranberry to be quite prominent. The pineapple is there but the papaya is way in the background. I don’t think I would buy a 50g bag but it was good to try. Good for a free tea!

Adventaggedon Day 10: Tea 2/7

I haven’t had a hot cup of Caribbean Crush in a long time so that’s what I decided to do today with this advent selection! It was actually a lot creamier than I remembered it being in a way similar to, like, a cream soda? In fact I’d describe the overall taste as very much like a strawberry cream soda. Nice and sweet and bright and just coating across the palate. Really enjoyed this one today!

Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.

I was really excited to try this given its fun name and the list of ingredients, because I love tropical scented/flavored things. Unfortunately I’d have to call this one a miss. A more accurate name for it would be cran-apple tea. Its 80% apple pieces from what I can see (hardly any pineapple or papaya as listed, and certainly not much discernible taste of either of those in the tea either) with a hint of sour/tart from the cranberry bits. Its not a bad tea, its just not unique, and certainly not tropical. Very generic and very much like many other fruity with a hint of tartness teas that Davids offers consistently. If you’re curious about this one I definitely recommend getting a sample or small amount before purchasing because it really doesn’t live up to its name at all. So overall..fruity, mild, tasty…but nothing you probably haven’t already tried if you’ve bought fruity teas from Davids before.

Free sample! I told myself I wasn’t going to order from DAVIDs for a long time, yet low and behold they had free shipping on ANY purchase for a few days so I bought their tea filters + 2 50g bags of tea and got samples.

Anywho, I steeped this for about 10ish min in 200F water, then popped in the freezer for a few hours to cool off. The taste is a bit weak but it happens with fruit blend samples. I’m getting a nice fruity taste, a mix of apple with what I believe to be pineapple and it’s only slightly tart. Wish I was getting more cranberry, but again, 5g samples aren’t kind to heavy blends. This tea reminds me of Hard Candy from last year. I may purchase more when the weather warms up to get a better idea of the blend, but for $8/50g I can get a cranberry blend from iHOT for $5.75/50g (sorry, just got to throw it out there since DAVID’s fruit blends seem to be getting more and more pricey and I go through A LOT of iced tea in the hot months)

What’s the name of the cranberry blend from iHOT?

Thank you ma’am! I will have a look.

Another free sample from my online purchase. I find it quite weak but from what I can taste it has a nice flavor. I might have to get some when the summer collection is launched and try adding and extra scoop and brew it longer.
*Edit: The summer collection came out today so I bought some of this tea and it is way better with an extra scoop. Brewed it 5 minutes but it could go longer. It’s a nice refreshing candy like flavor. Yum!

This tea is very fruity and reminds me of a summertime cocktail with a little umbrella in it that you’d sip poolside. The papaya is an interesting addition and not an ingredient that I encounter in teas very often. It adds a really nice tropical flavor. I’m happy that there’s no coconut in this blend. I steeped it for a few hours in my travel mug before pouring it over ice. Even so, it was quite weak. The tea is tart but slightly sweet. I almost wish there was more hibiscus and/or that cranberries were at the beginning of the ingredient list. I think it’d be nice paired with hibiscus leaves (or a tea like Queen of Tarts from DT) or another fruit infusion that has a bit more flavor like ME to WE. I’m not thoroughly impressed but I might buy a bag when the summer collection is released.

Kristal

Interesting! Might pick some up to try in spite of my resolve to use very little DAVIDs TEAs’ as iced tea this summer (their herbal fruit blends are min $8/50g and that’s just too expensive when my husband and I go through 2L pitcher a day combined)

apieceofquiche

I hear ya. I make it a point to plan ahead so that I can steep to chill rather than steep to ice (thereby using less tea).
