From DAVIDsTEA

Daydream believer

At our annual staff party last summer, we invented the best drink ever: iced green tea with mango-flavoured ice cubes. It was totally refreshing and subtly fruity, like drinking a cup of green tea while daydreaming about tropical fruit. Hence the name: The Daydreamer. We’ve recreated it for you here, with a sencha green tea lightly flavoured with mango, guava and mangousteen. Steep a cup and dream a little dream of tea. Limited edition.

Ingredients: Fair Trade Certified Sencha green tea, mango, safflower, marigold, natural and artificial mangousteen flavoring, artificial guava flavoring*.

I’m drinking this iced today because my tongue hurts from eating hot chicken wings yesterday (worth it). I put some agave in and it’s everything I like in an iced tea: fruity, sweet, and refreshing. I don’t even care how much artificial flavouring they may have loaded this up with, to me it tastes awesome hahah. I don’t usually even like mango, but it blends in so nicely with the guava and green tea. Mmmm

It’s a nice sleepy afternoon here in Northern Alabama, and with nothing to do but wait on the laundry to finish & read a book I thought this tea seemed quite appropriate.

Upon opening the little sample packet sent to me by the lovely Bonnie, it smelled fruity and sweet. The sweet aroma lingered on as it steeped away and as I poured it into my cup.

I added just the slightest touch of honey and this cup is all that I hoped it would be. Light, sweet, refreshing and fruity. I’ve had greens before that were overpowered by the fruit flavors they were blended with, but that is not the case with this tea at all. There is just the perfect amount of mango and the guava lingering in the background is quite refreshing.

A perfectly pleasant cup for a quiet afternoon! I’m wondering if I can get another steep out of it, not sure but I’m sure going to try!

This was a decent cup of tea. Sweet, the sencha wasn’t too overwhelming, tasted mango-y. A bit too mango-y, actually. Getting into that artificial flavouring taste, especially for such a short steep time. I didn’t bother going back to finish off my cup when I set it down for a few minutes. Very unremarkable.

This one smells so good.
It is fruity, I have no idea what mangousteen is supposed to taste like, but for me, this tea tastes a little fake.
This tastes a little like the Green & Fruity rooibos to me.
2nd steep: 85degrees, 4 min, weaker taste but still ok.

My impression was that it would be similar to green and fruity, but perhaps tastier (?) Haven’t tried mine quite yet…

This tea smelled so very delicious when I opened the bag! Fruity and flavorful! I have to say that I was very much let down by this blend. After enjoying so many delicious teas from DavidsTea, I thought it would really pack a bunch of flavor. This was quite mellow – a little bit bitter, fruity (couldn’t really distinguish mango from a general ‘fruit note’), but nothing all that impressive. It’s one of those teas you drink and then forget that you’ve had a cup. It doesn’t linger in the mouth or mind.

Dry, this smells amazingly like mango, which is of course what made me decide to buy a bit. I liked DT’s Mango Diablo, but can’t see drinking it often because of the chili in it. I had high hopes that this would be a strong mango-tasting tea that would be smooth going down.

It’s smooth, I’ll give it that. I don’t get much of a taste beyond the green tea, though. Just a hint of fruitiness there. A few reviewers have said that it tastes like juice to them. Not to me. I haven’t added a sweetener to it, though, so maybe that makes the difference. I’ll try this one again and add a touch of cane sugar to it. Hopefully that will bring out the flavours a bit more.

Another from the Roommate’s tea stash! This one was quite nice. A smooth mango-y flavor. I added sugar and milk as per usual.

I’m usually not a huge sencha or flavored tea fan, but sometimes I like the two of them mixed together. I can definitely smell the mango here, and the taste is a little sweet and a little grassy. It’s brought out with a little honey. I don’t love this tea, but I do enjoy it, and I may consider buying 50g of it in the future. It’s a beautiful pale green, and it smells warm and crisp and inviting.

Mmmmm smells good. I think I will ice some later.
Anyways, I was kinda disapointed when the spring collection came as my free samples with my online order of Southern Belle (i totally forgot i ordered 100g, thank goodness I did, i love that one)!
Back to the samplers, I decided to try daydreamer first and wow Im glad I got that sampler! I lovelovelove green tea and luckily I can actually taste the green tea in this one. I actually followed the directions properly on this one (i never follow the directions), and i wish i didnt follow them. I like my tea extra steeped, especially green teas. Anyways I do enjoy this tea and it just might have a permanent spot on my shelves. (:
