From DAVIDsTEA

Lemon aid

Ever wonder what makes lemons so…lemony? It comes from something called “citral,” a molecular compound that gives lemons their fresh citrus smell. And lemon myrtle contains about 20 times more citral than a lemon. That’s right – it’s even more lemony than a lemon itself! Prized in perfume, aromatherapy and cooking, this sweet, lemony herb also happens to make the most refreshing, sublimely lemony tea in the universe. Ever.

Ingredients: lemon myrtle

Supa Lemon! Dang I feel like this tisane could be a superhero, it’s that vibrant in flavour. Whew.
I went with a four/five minute steep but based on the sip I took at 90 seconds, a two minute steep would have been fabulous. Sparkling! Whereas my cup was too strong and full on lemon. Drinkable but not something I’d buy again. I’d leave it around 68 with a potential for much higher!
So I think I’ll save my rating for next time.
Also, thank the time maker that weekend is over. I thought the torture would go on forever. (so many odd social moments went on… I wouldn’t know where to begin! though for the most part it was pleasant, I’m just being dramatic haha. It was really just Saturday that I’d rather forget ever happened)

on the plus side! NEXT WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE!!!!!!!!

hehe, counting down the days Sil! 5 more! :P

I was in a lemon mood tonight….and I have had this for awhile and had not tried it yet. So here goes….
Wowzers, that is lemon. It tastes pretty good, sweeter than I was expecting.
I found this very refreshing and palate cleansing.
Next to try this Cold brewed, I think it would be even more refreshing cold with maybe a little mint!

Just a quick note as I only had a few sips from the beau’s cup last night – This is a pleasant lemon tea, not too bitter or sharp but distinctly lemon-esque. The beau opted to add local honey to soothe his throat, but I found it too strong for the lemon mytrle, and it overpowered it. I really liked this (I’m a fan of lemon teas, but selective) and would like to keep some on hand constantly to drink on it’s own and also to add to teas that need a bit more lemon kick! Very nice, especially in winter with cold season.

I love lemon teas especially in the evening. I don’t know why, but I often crave lemon teas after dinner. The lemon teas I’ve had in the past have been lemon meringue or lemon pie or lemon tart — something a bit more creamy and less like actual lemon right off the branch. I saw that DavidsTea offered this herbal so I bought it in hopes of drinking something super lemony without the dessert frills.

The smell of this tea is strong lemon, but with something grassy or herbal in the background. It reminds me a little bit of the zoo… the grass, the dung, the animals… I don’t know, but I’m definitely picturing the zoo. It won’t stop me from taking the first sip.. but the image of the elephant house remains in my head.

Sipping… I’m rather surprised to be getting a smooth and sweet lemon flavor. I was expecting it to be more tart, but it seems to be naturally sweet on its own. The finish is very herbal, a bit like dried leaves. There is the smallest bit of the funky zoo flavor at the end. I like that this tea is lemony and sweet, but as it’s similar to (and not as good as) the dessert tea blends I have, I don’t think I’ll buy any more.

I love this one with a little bit of mint thrown in!

QueenOfTarts

tigress_al, I might give that a try! I don’t have any mint at the moment.. but it sounds yummy!

I was surprised with this one. In quite a wonderful way.
I was apprehensive when the salesperson brought this one down in the store as I’m not generally a fan of the citrusy teas, but it smelled wonderful. The lemonyness doesn’t stand up and kick you in the face, but instead is slightly earthy. I had this as a tea to go in the store – it took the super hot water and the much longer than usual steep time very very well. I took it with a bit of agave because I knew it would be steeping for so long, but you could easily do without. It tasted a little like lemon lozenges but not so strong. While I don’t think this will become one of my go-to teas, I think I’ll definitely be getting myself a small bag for an early winter morning tea. It would also be great with honey for a cold or sore throat.

I was served this cold as the tea of the day at my local David’s Tea.

This tea has a very prominent bitter edge. Very strong essence of lemon and lemon zest

Smells like lemon Jolly Rancher! which means it can’t go wrong for me :) I had this tea hot, naked and it was pretty delicious. But when it really made me give me this super high rating was. I had a pretty intense meal and was kind of afraid of smelling like food (this is a huge thing for me, btw) aaand i had lemon myrtle + spearmint ICED! OH my GOD! it was so awesome!! I couldn’t get over it. It would be SO perfect as a hot-day-pick-me-up when it was so good iced in Winter. I would definitely recommend this tea for fun mixes :)

Sipdown!

I had 2 tsp of this left and so I mixed it with the 1 tsp of tulsi that I had left – a great way to make a full pot and finish off 2 more teas in my cupboard!

I’m surprised by how well this blends together, and how subtle the basil is. However, since lemon myrtile is now discontinued, this will not be a restock.

This was perfect for my sore throat last night. Added a bit of honey and was able to get a few steeps out of it. Perfect :)

It was a sort of rough day. Tossed and turned all night because of nasty leg pains, woke up with a headache, clocked into work half an hour earlier than I should have, headache turned into a migraine. It wasn’t the kind of migraine that makes me lose vision (thankfully), but I could smell every.single.person I walked by. The guy with a cigar a block away might as well have been blowing smoke in my face. Lunch wasn’t a possibility. What was usually a palatable sandwich was suddenly an assault to my senses.

Migraine is now gone, but I still feel out of sorts. Like a puzzle not quite put together right. I never like this feeling (who would?) but all it will take is a good cup of tea and a sleep with some kitty cuddles.

I feel like this lemon myrtle will set me on the path to being fixed. Yes, this will do just right. The smell alone is doing wonders. Finally, a pleasant scent! I should put a dab of honey in it, not because it needs it, but because lemon and honey are perfect for each other.

I didn’t pay attention to how long I steeped this for. Does it matter? Just get in my mouth already!
(Sorry for any spelling mistakes, my brain is still in that aftermath fuzz mode. let me know and I’ll fix it.)
