From Adagio Teas

A long time traditional Southern U.S. favorite, but a stranger to the tea world, our sweet potato pie tea is bound to become a new star. A hint of toasted marshmallow makes this tea surprisingly decadent.

It’s pretty light, but the Sweet Potato Pie tea does have a yammy flavor. Starchy. I don’t get the ‘pie’ so much as the vegetable, although maybe it’d be a bit creamy if I added some milk. I actually like the tea; it’s a good savory flavor, but like a couple of other people commented, I’m a bit stumped by what to drink it with.

Cofftea

Lupicia’s is better (more accurate).

this one was given to me by Darby :) and this defiantly smells like sweet potato when brewed i cant tell if from my cold or what but this just taste like tea to me there is a subtle after tast of the sweet potato, Since i have a cold and its unfair judging it im going to wait on a rating and try this one again from what i can tell though I am enjoying it!

I have been sorting through my tea stash lately, and came across this one – I haven’t had it in a while so I decided it was high time I had a cup.

Tastes good.

Yup! Smells like Sweet Potato! It steeps quickly and Dark. It’s quite flavorful but in a good way if you like flavored black teas. This one is another pleasant surprise from Adagio. I understeeped only because of how quickly it steeped but it seems to have worked well. I’m enjoying my cup and will enjoy future cups!

Did you get the starchy texture? Maybe you would if you steeped it the full 5 min? I don’t prefer black teas, but the liquor quickly escaping the leaves and flooding the water is so pretty!

Nope…no starchiness…I will be steeping longer next time tho just because…I want to taste the difference even tho I liked my attempt with a lighter steep.

I don’t hate it, but I don’t think I “get it” either. Other than the smell, and instant the tea touches your tongue, this is just kind of plain to me. It steeps very quickly and fairly dark. I’m just not getting a lot of sweet potato action. Maybe regular potato, like some others have mentioned, but not so much a yummy sweet potato flavor. I drank this plain…and the flavors are changing now that the cup is cooling off. The natural sweetness is coming out. Still not a sweet potato in my book….but maybe….if you are willing yourself to taste a sweet potato, you will taste it.

Sipdown of this one. I was surprised it still had a tiny bit of flavor as it is ancient and in a sandwich baggie. I think it had the same amount of flavor as when I initially had it years ago. I also discovered a secret: waiting 20 minutes after boiling lets more flavor in the mug. Maybe I should be trying this with many Adagio/flavored teas if the flavor doesn’t seem right. Deserves more than my 61 rating.

First review. I don’t know what happened on this tea…I read the other reviews that commented on how it tasted like sweet potato and all that…but have they ever eaten or even baked a sweet potato pie?! Really?! This does not taste like sweet potato pie at all! There is such a low level of flavor that even my daughter was saying bleh…and how would we know you say…well…we’re a blended African-American family and in 44 years I’ve made and tasted a huge amount of sweet potato pie! There is no spice at all in this, no cream, no crust, nada. I’ll try again another day to be fair. Steep a little longer. Honestly I wanted this to be good. I know if the tea blender does not blend this just right it will taste like pumpkin but it can be done.

Friend made me some of this when I visited her this weekend. I took it with sugar and creamer. Its not the best tea, I mean I wasn’t blown away, but it was good enough to wake me up.

With cream and sugar I kind of get sweet potato from this. Not as much as I’d like, but its still kind of there. It’d probably make a decent latte.

Yay! An empty envelope! I am polishing this sample off today.

It’s an interesting tea, and I am glad that I tried it, but it’s not something that I will be ordering.

I’m not a huge fan of sweet potatoes, so this one is kind of a stretch for me. The nose is definitely full of potato, and once the tea is brewed, it retains its potatoness. The sweet potato taste is light enough that it is not overpowering, so it is pretty well balanced. I just don’t like sweet potatoes enough to give this a high rating.

I will say that my wife, who likes sweet potatoes, loved this tea.

I wonder how they came up with the idea to make a sweet potato tea.
