I’ve already made a couple of apple teas this fall, but since I had a few more freeze-dried apples in the studio, I figured that meant I needed to make at least one more tea. Plus – I’ve only made one other maple-y goodness tea this season & I can always go for a little more maple!
With this blend, I started with organic Chinese Sencha tea – the light, soft & creamy taste & texture of Chinese Sencha would work nicely with the sweet flavors that are going on with this tea. Then I added maple essence as well as some maple cotton candy. The maple cotton candy that I use is made from real, organic maple sugar & what I like about adding the maple cotton candy to my tea blends is how the cotton candy ends up crystalizing as the tea cures. What remains is tiny little crumbles of maple sugar, which adds not only some sweetness to the cup but an authentic, deliciously maple note as well. It really amplifies the maple! Then I added a bunch of apples – you’ll find both freeze-dried & air-dried apples in this blend. I used both Fuji & Granny Smith apples for a nicely round, sweet yet tart apple flavor. Finally, I added a touch of essence – my own “blondie” essence recipe!
The flavor of this tea is so nice! A beautiful apple note with a delectable maple note. Notes of a brown sugar, cake-y like taste melds with the apple & maple so nicely – dessert in a teacup! The sweet flavor of Chinese Sencha lingers in the background. When drinking this without additions, you get more apple & maple. After adding just a teensy bit of sugar (less than ½ a teaspoon) I find that the blondie notes pop a little more.
Not only tasty, it’s also organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-free & all natural!
organic ingredients: green tea, apples, maple cotton candy (cane sugar & maple sugar) & natural flavors
to brew: make sure you shake this blend well to make sure you’re getting some of those tiny little maple sugar shards in your measurement! Use 3g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (175°F) & steep for 2 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. Enjoy!
