I wanted to create a cranberry flavored black tea – but I didn’t want to go for a straightforward cranberry black tea because that’s been done. At first, I was going to go with a cranberry custard pie flavor but my initial taste tests of that blend proved to be underwhelming. So instead, I went with a cranberry tea with a creamy custard-y flavor. It has a tangy cranberry note but the edgier, tartier flavors of the cranberry are softened by the sweet, vanilla creme notes. It’s tasty!

I actually prefer this one without milk. I taste a faint twang of cranberry, maybe a tiny bit of creme, and a relatively unobtrusive black base. Cold, it’s all pretty smooth, though fruity black teas aren’t a favorite of mine. It’s definitely refreshing!

52teas 12 Teas of Christmas 2023 – Day 1

Kiki’s back!

“Ok yeah, this is good. Idk if this is good yet, but this is good. It smells originally like raspberry jello. I initially said strawberry but it’s raspberry, maybe the currant, who knows.

heavy tea huffing I’m gonna pass out.

Maybe a little vanilla or somethin’. And then it’s got some kind of, I’m thinking black tea, or some kind of dark green tea because first of all, it’s very dark.

It’s like candy, tastes like candy, and it doesn’t even have any sugar in it, so. And it smells good, it smelled up the whole room. I could smell it from 3 feet away!

I like it I would drink it again. I could drink it more than 1 time again. I could drink it as iced tea or hot tea. I could drink it anyway. Kinda like Dr. Seuss – I could drink it in the chair, I could drink it anywhere.

I had to have somebody move their car in front of the house. Tell them my husband (me, lol! she calls me her husband) has to park there.

Maybe it’s a white tea. Oooh I’m getting dizzy. lots of quiet sipping

Kinda tastes Christmassy. I can’t see. It steamed up my glasses. So I’m done, almost done. Kinda like a juniper berry or something undertone. So what is it?

Cranberry Creme Black Tea

burps Oh my god, haha

Ahhh, cream – that’s the vanilla flavor in it I think. See, holiday-like. burp Oooh I drank it so fast. I like it, I give a big 9."

Day 1 of the 52teas advent calendar. Solid start and better than I expected! It’s a nice, soft creme with a gentle menthol sensation that lingers on the breath. So like cranberry-flavored soft peppermints but not terrible. The astringency of the base complements the tartness of the cranberry well, too.

52teas 12 Teas of Christmas 2023 – Day 1

I didn’t even realize there was cinnamon in this until I read some of your tea notes, Steepsterites. I’m clearly more congested than I thought.

For what it’s worth, I like this blend a lot. Looking forward to revisiting this one.

52Teas 12 Teas of Christmas 2023 – Day 1 -

Well, it’s currently 11:46 so I’m just barely making this in time for the 1st day of Christmas! (Yeah, I’m behind for my own advent on the very first day! Not a good look.) Anyway . . .

today has been crazy, so it’s nice to take a moment to sit down and enjoy a cuppa. I was so happy when this tea earned the votes to make it into the 12 Teas of Christmas box because it’s one that I absolutely love: rich black tea, tart cranberries & just enough sweetness from the vanilla & cream to soften that edge from the cranberry. The cinnamon is just barely there – it smells a lot more cinnamon-y than it tastes. I love the warmth it brings to the cup.

12 Teas of Christmas: Day 1

Hooray, it’s time to start the 12 teas of Christmas! I liked this one quite a lot. It’s very cranberry-forward for me, with just a hint of cinnamon. I’m not picking up on any vanilla or cream notes, but that’s OK. I really enjoy the sharpness of the cranberry!

52teas 12 Teas of Christmas 2023 – Day 1

Cranberrrrrry! I was so excited to see this right out of the gate, I’ve heard great things about 52teas’s cranberry teas in the past and especially in the advent.

So I opened the pouch and smelled a lot of cinnamon, and I admit, my excitement deflated a bit ha ha. And to be honest… I’m finding this quite bland? Mostly I taste the black tea base, which is flavorful and smooth, but not really the point. I can tell that it’s flavored, but I don’t think I would be able to tell what the flavoring was supposed to be if I didn’t already know. There’s a bit of creaminess, and a bit of cinnamon. A hint of fruitiness perhaps, but I think I would guess plum before cranberry? Maybe just because the spice makes me think of plum? So to my tastebuds, it’s almost more of a spiced plum sort of tea, but overall the flavoring is very mild.

So, sadly, not quite what I was hoping for given the name.

(52teas (Anne) 2022: 59)

This is back from 2015 and I’ve never reviewed it?! Oops.

So, I believe I conflated this tea and the cranberry oolong VIT that Frank blended – which I didn’t like. So, I thought I didn’t like this one. That was a mistake; it’s actually fairly tasty. It’s mild, but does taste like cranberry cream. I must have only had this once or twice, as my 2oz package is quite full – mixed news, haha.

From 2017, still sealed. It’s daytime so I can finally break into my oldest 52Teas black tea stash!

This is delightful! I rarely taste cranberry flavor in tea, but this definitely tastes of the tart berries, but there is definitely a creamy/sweet element here that is keeping the tea from coming off too tangy/puckery (not that I would’ve minded that, but I’m a weirdo that takes tart/sour flavors like a champ). Also, I’m getting a strong cinnamon spice flavor; not that candy Red Hots-esque artificial cinnamon, but a very warming, sweet, pastry sort of cinnamon that I really like with the cranberry flavor. The result is a flavor that reminds me of this very tart cinnamon apple tea that is on a hibi base that I swear only a weirdo like me could like that I love during the winter, with the apple replaced with cranberry, and the tart as a natural part of that particular berry, though a bit more mellow due to that sweet creamy element. The base is very malty/bready, and it is just a touch drying after the sip; I’m not sure if that is a result of the black tea having a bit of astringency to it, or just the tartness of the berry itself. I wouldn’t say it is damaging to the cup. This is a flavor profile I really enjoy!
