Our Tea of the Week for the Week of
September 9, 2013

This week’s tea is a revisiting of our very popular (and just re-blended (again)) Blueberry Cream Cheese Danish, this time with a green tea base. We used premium Young Hyson and Chunmee green teas with freeze-dried blueberries and organic flavors to make this delicious tea. Don’t miss your chance to grab a pouch of this before it’s gone. (I made a little extra, but it won’t last long.) Also this week, we’ve reblended our Weeping Angel and Banana Pudding teas.

Holy crap, I’m loving this tea! I cold steeped it in the fridge and added a little soy creamer to it… amazing! I’m getting creamy blueberries with a danish flavor that matches it well. I could drink this all summer long and summers last about half the year here in Austin. I really hope they bring this one back. DO YOU HEAR ME 52TEAS?! BRING THIS ONE BAAAAAAAAACK!
Please. :)

NayLynn gave me the chance to try this one in our swap. I’ve been wanting to try pretty much any 52teas blend that involved cream cheese because it sounds so interesting and seems fairly successful based on other people’s ratings. I, however, did not encounter as much success. Being that I was looking for that cream cheese flavor so eagerly, perhaps I set myself up for disappointment. This is a pretty good tea with its blueberry green tea flavor. It even has the buttery pastry flavor in the aftertaste. BUT…I get no cream cheese whatsoever. Maybe I would compare this more to a blueberry croissant? Not bad, but I’m still going to be on the hunt for more people willing to swap 52teas cream cheese/cheesecake blends!

Honestly, I think I’ve only had one 52teas blend where I feel like I tasted cheesecake, that that was Apricot Cheesecake Shou Mei.

Oh! That’s good to know! You don’t magically happen to have any of that, do you?

The dry leaf aroma is scrumptious! I’ve let this one sit in my cupboard for a long time. It’s way past due that I try it. The verdict? Mmm, this is really delicious! It’s a soft green tea with light blueberry and cream flavors. If I try really hard, I can imagine a baked pastry flavor too. But mostly that’s my imagination as this is a soft, creamy, blueberry tea at best.

It goes along with my snack of roasted squash seeds very nicely too. This tea is honestly exactly what I wanted right now: something creamy with a green base. I can’t believe how tasty this is. The blueberry adds a subtle sweetness, which made me wonder. So I added a tiny amount of Truvia out of curiosity. I think it’s probably better without, at least for the first infusion.

I am definitely enjoying the green version of this more than the black. Frank was on to something when he made this. The flavors play off each other nicely. This is a time when I’m really glad that I have two ounces. I’ve already given away a few samples of this in swaps, and I think I’ll greedily keep the rest for myself. ;)

I’ve had this one a few times now, always with limted success. First time, it was bitter and light on any sort of fruity or bready flavor. This last time around, I went for a 2 minute steep and made sure to get a blueberry in my infuser!

The result?

The first steep is very blueberry and I get a bit of tang as well. There might be a bit of baked goods flavor, but I think that’s what I’m interpreting as bitterness. The second steep lost the blueberry and tang, and the bitter flavor is more pronounced.

I’m glad I finally got something approaching the namesake out of this tea, but I’m even more excited that I’ve almost finished it off. Maybe sugar would bring out a sweet pastry taste?

Nice blueberry scent and a bit of cream cheesiness. I taste a slight bit of pastry. Very lovely morning tea when all I can dream of was pastry, donuts, cinnamon rolls….. Now I have to go grocery shopping and avoid the real thing.

Got this as a sample from Liberteas

I don’t have alot of time to write a review, but the way my memory has been lately I figured that I should try and write what I can. Not that there is really much to write anyways.

Ok…This tea is kind of …..meh. It isn’t terrible tasting, and I think the next cup I have will be cold.
