I’ve had this a few times, so I’m not sure why I haven’t reviewed it.

I really like the white base here. It lets the cotton candy flavour come through nicely. I like that the sweetness, the distinctly cotton candy flavour, the delicate white tea. It is more vegetal than I would normally drink, but it isn’t bad at all.

Second tea of the day. I don’t always care for this one, but today it really hit the spot with the light white tea and subtle sweet cotton candy flavour. Delicious.

I reblended this tea for one of 52Teas Ambassadors (start-up kickstarter contributor). Yeah, I’m still really REALLY really behind but I’m catching up. Truly I am.

If I keep telling myself that, I’ll believe it too.

OK, I probably have said this once or twice about my reblends but I think I’ve actually did this one better than the original. First of all, this isn’t Shou Mei – it’s a top-notch Bai Mu Dan (I found a new supplier for my white tea so it’s even better than the White Peony I was using!) and the sweet Bai Mu Dan with the sweet cotton candy notes is sublime.

This might even be better than a freshly spun batch of candy floss that you’d get at a carnival because – you know – tea.

This will be available in the next couple of weeks. (I’m still working on this Ambassador’s VITwhich should be finished in the next week and once it’s finished and I have those teas on their way to him, then I’ll release the remaining stock.)

Cold Brew Sipdown (136)!

Thanks to Scheherazade for the sample!

I was definitely hoping to like this one; cotton candy seems like a great pairing with a lighter base like white tea. However, I didn’t get much if any cotton candy flavour from the brew or really any generic sort of sweetness either. Instead this one just tasted quite artificial and chemically to me and that was a real no go.

Can’t love ’em all.

This was yesterday afternoon’s treat. I really like 52Teas Cotton Candy Black, so when the white tea version was released AGES AGO I picked up a bag. Why did I wait this long to try it? I suppose “too much tea” is always a reason, but not a great one. Anyway, it finally escaped the waiting box! I used 1 tsp of leaf for my cup, and gave it 2.5 minutes in water cooled to around 180 degrees. The scent is primarily white tea – a little floral and almost starchy. The flavour, though? Pure cotton candy. There’s an element of “liquid sugar” to this, a flavour which white tea alone can often contribute in my experience. I can detect a hint of strawberry here though, which really helps to take it to another level. I think that’s what makes it less “sweet water” and more “cotton candy”, but it’s a tricky flavour to describe. Great for those with a sweet tooth!

In a word: subtle.

Initially this tea comes on as a white tea, slightly vegetal with hints of floral flavors.

Once you swallow though, you realize there’s a light twinge of an I’m-not-quite-sure-which-berry and spun sugar. The sugar/berry/cotton candy flavor only becomes more pronounced as the cup cools.

It doesn’t need sugar, and I didn’t add any, but I could definitely see this taking it well.

This is an interesting, subtle little tea. I’m not picking up the cotton candy flavours as thoroughly as I’d like, but it still took to sweetener rather nicely. My main complaint is just that it has a bit of an astringent aftertaste and leaves your mouth feeling dry.

Nice enough, but not something I’d want to drink again. Back in the TTB it goes.

Sadly this is almost gone :( I had a cup while catching up on Etsy orders. It’s sweet and light. Like cotton candy :P Very smooth flavor and I think it fits with the white tea base.

I was really excited to try this one so maybe I amped myself up for it a little too much. I taste the white tea but can’t really taste the cotton candy. After adding a little sugar, I detect a hint of cotton candy but it’s so subtle that I can’t tell if it’s just the sugar that I’m tasting. Hmmm… I’ll wait till this cools down and try it again over ice.
