Wow I am bananas over this one! Heehee couldn’t resist! Anyways I have to say that I am sold on honeybush since it doesn’t have caffeine.
Opened this package up and you can smell the bananas the almost smell like a banana that is not quite ripe( which is the way I like them). Brewed it up and added just a touch of sugar because that is how I drink it, and wow people were right it smells just like banana runts or laffy taffy. yum yum yum…

The taste is just the same as the smell… if you want a bit more banana wait and let it cool off more and it will taste even more like a banana. I think that i might mix this with some others and see what kind of fruit combinations I can come up with!

All I could think of at first was Laffy Taffy banana. I made this tea iced, so I have not tried it hot. I do find a little goes along way! It’s sweet so I did not need to add much sugar (if any). The banana flavor comes through well and keeps even when thinned out with my melting ice cubes. I think the tea would do well mixed with some other teas…a caramel tea perhaps. Banana foster anyone?

I’ve actually drunk this a number of times before, just haven’t been posting notes on Steepster as my spring/summer was too busy – but it’s Autumn now so I’m back, and I’m all about the Tea again!

Anyhoo, when I first got out of bed this lovely rainy Saturday morning I knew straight away that this was what I was going to start my day with .. I’ve just finished my 2nd cup now and it really was what I was after: mellow, slightly sweet, relaxing (I’m prepping for a long lazy day at home without the kids) :P

I’d added a little milk to my first cup without really thinking and it tasted a little too weak .. So for the second I added some more fresh leaves/dried banana to the pot (with first brew leaves still in) and brewed for longer, probably a good 10-15min or so .. It still wasn’t as quite as strong as I was wanting, so I then added a tea spoon of sugar, and by slurping I got that Mmm Banana hit I was craving ..

I probably won’t be ordering another pouch of this when I run out as shipping from the states eats up a lot of money, and I’d like to try other companies tea too .. But I’m certainly glad I did at least once ..

Would I recommend it for ‘something different’ – Absolutely!

I forgot to set the timer and ended up steeping this cup longer than I intended to, but the tea doesn’t seemed to have suffered for it. This is a fun tea as the name would suggest – it has a great, sweet banana flavour and smoothness that makes me think of banana cream pie. It certainly doesn’t need any extra sweetener added to it which is one thing I love about honeybush-based teas.

A little goes a long way. I like the first half of the cup, but by the time i sip myself to the bottom, I’m done for a couple of days. It’s the same as the monkey cage at the zoo. I’m all giggly and smiley and feel all good inside for the first couple of hours of watching monkey tomfoolery. As the day turns to dusk, the primitive hijinks almost becomes a bit monotonous and tends to drag…oh, who am i kidding…I could watch monkeys for weeks!! The banana is a bit overwhelming for my taste.

I had to buy this for my 11, 9 and 7 year old grandsons who are way into tea. I mean MONKEY FART TEA! As soon as it arrived I rushed over and my daughter put on the pot to boil. (each boy has their own tea set) The first pour was too weak. Need to have enough tea and enough time steeping for good flavor but you can tell that this is a great creamy banana desert tea. You could play with other tea and make a variety of drinks with a tiny addition of some chocolate sprinkles. (Yep I know how to be a Grandma!)

Yes, I love this tea. It’s actually my first time trying any kind of honeybush. The smell is awesome. Smells like the sweetest bananas…very perfumery, when they are so ripe that they are ready to make bread with.
The flavor is alive..the taste of real, sweet bananas.
I didn’t add any sweetener. I thought I was going to, but it didn’t need it….although, maybe next time I will add some sugar and (soy) milk to experiment a little

So glad this is one of the teas that’s permanently stocked. It’s my husband’s favorite. Very rich and full banana flavor. Since it’s honeybush, it can be enjoyed both day & night. Our friends’ 2 yr old even loves it. She asks for it by name as “Dennis’ favorite tea”. If you like bananas, you must try it. We steep for about 5 minutes.

I really like this tea, but I wanted something not as sweet, so I combined it with Razzleberry from Souvia (black tea with raspberry and strawberry), and it was just what I was looking for. Even better cold!
