drank Blackberry Mojito by Teavana
576 tasting notes

This is another tea from Teavana that I tweak. I love the base of tart (but not bitter) blackberry and the subtle taste of lime and mint. But I go one step further and add more spearmint. It’s a sweeter mint and blends well with the base. I love bold blackberry and mighty mint.

That being said, this is still one of my favorite blends from Teavana. A nice flavor hot and even better iced.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Again, Jealous!! I keep checking and its always out of stock! :(

Meghann M

As am I. I will have to see if my local shop has any as I can never catch it online. My husband loves this one. I will have to try with the added spearmint as that sounds like a nice addition.

KeenTeaThyme

@JoeCool – I just sent your package out, but I could mail you a sample if you want. Just let me know. I’m always happy to share. @Meghann: I can send you my tweaked version if you’d like… I’m not trying to be pushy or anything but I know how expensive teas can get… especially if you don’t like one kind and it collects dust in your cabinet.

Meghann M

That would be wonderful, YUM! Let me know if there is anything I can send you.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Oh that would be awesome if you don’t mind. I just got another blend that I think you might enjoy! I’ll send it out today for you! Awesome!

Yup. It’s the AM on a weekday. I’ve got a million and five things to do, and two meetings. So I’m brewing this up for myself and a coworker. And I’ve got a huge bag on deck in my travel mug for the approaching meeting.

Heaven. That’s what I call this tea. If you like coconut, you’re cu-cu & nuts to NOT get this blend. Frank has a way with honeybush, as one fellow tea writer said and she is so right. At first whiff, I’m in love. I brewed a cup at my desk and a coworker thought I had applied coconut lotion. (She sniffed around and finally cajoled me into giving her a sample.) This tastes like creamy coconut bliss. I cannot live without this tea. What will I do when it runs out?!

Nichole/CuppaGeek

Mine just came in today. I’m steeping now!! :) Can’t wait!!

KeenTeaThyme

You. Will. Love. It. :) As long as you dig coconut!

This is an interesting blend – points for creativity and for pulling. it. off. (from How I Met Your Mother. Don’t mind me.) I taste peanut butter and toast – a light dusting of smoky tea. This is a bold tea, a morning blend, and woke me up. I definitely enjoyed the creativity and flavor-fun.

Another cuppa for tonight. Delish. 2nd infusion isn’t as strong (DUH) but the flavor reminiscent of summer is still there. I enjoy drinking this hot in the winter time to remind myself of summer days…

Thanks to the lovely Meghann M, my SweeTEA, for this Adagio creation by Tanya Laird. I am a nut for anything gunpowder, so naturally this blend of gunpowder, decaf spiced green and blood orange would appeal to me.
This is a fun, unique blend I plan on purchasing for myself when I run out.
The first sip is bold, orange-y and spicy, deliciously smooth. The aftertaste is a little bit smoky (thanks to the gunpowder), and still orange&spice.
I enjoy this at work in the afternoons. It’s calming and soothing, but not sleep-inducing!
Meghann, thank you for opening my eyes to this awesome blend! :)

Batrachoid

Any tea based on Ms Amos’s lyrics is bound to be good. Do they have this up on their site?

Meghann M

Yay, I’m glad you liked it. I saw a tasting note of yours that mentioned Gunpowder was a fav tea of yours and thought this would be right up your alley:)

atuinsails

Sounds interesting. I’ve been crawling over the adagio website looking for a spicy blood orange, sounds this might be worth a try.

Meghann M

Batrachoid, the creator has several teas created based off Tori’s lyrics. That’s what drew me to them at first. Here is a link to the Riot Proof blend:

KeenTeaThyme

@Meghann M: You guessed right! I love the blend – so unique. I will be buying it once I run out, which is bound to be soon. :)
@atuinsails: YES this is awesome spicy orange. The gunpowder adds a hint of smokiness too. If you’d like me to send over a sample, I will gladly share. Just PM me your addy and I can send out tomorrow. :)

drank Green Chai by Adagio Teas

This is an OK alternative to black tea chai (although I don’t know why anyone would want to stray from the bold black tea version). The spice is there but it’s more subtle than black tea versions. The flavor is smooth and light. However I recommend adding sweetener (my choice is Splenda) to enhance the spice.

Drinking this one again. I needed some extra caffeine to get through the afternoon. I love how the medley of flavors shines through – all three taste great together and yet I can still ID each: cherry, chocolate and cream. :)

Meghann M

sort of a random question for you, but how do you create a label for the adage signature blends? I keep trying to upload a .jpg and it never works.

KeenTeaThyme

Oh, I find a free image online and then edit it using the Paint program. Nothing high-tech. Then I save it as jpg and uploads OK. Try that and if you still have trouble uploading I could attempt to do an image for you – just tell me what you’d want on it. :)

Meghann M

thanks for the advice, I’ll give that a shot!

Thanks to twing for sharing this tea! This is a decent black tea, flavored but not flavorful. There are some teas that offer up a true medley of flavors and spice but this isn’t an example of that. I do enjoy the playful citrus and muted spice, but want something a bit more spicy… I did follow this with a Chai (from Teavana) cuppa.

However, a side note, I gave one bad to a friend who is just testing the waters of flavored tea. She loved it and wanted more. So I guess this is good for tea rookies.

The real credit goes to QuiltGuppy for giving it away in the first place. I just shared her generosity! But, you are quite welcome.

KeenTeaThyme

That’s right! I couldn’t remember the originator. Thank you, QuiltGuppy! :)

Drinking this one again… love it. Second infusion is just as nice as the first. Plus you don’t need to use more than a teaspoon of tea, unlike other brands in which you have to load up the filter in order to really taste the tea.

Bio

Hello fellow tea fans!
I’ve been a tea enthusiast for years but just recently started brewing my own. I’ve created some blends, and enjoy researching about new teas. I combined my love of tea and writing to create a tea-devoted blog, Keen Tea Thyme. I have been writing for most of my life and am a former journalist with a degree in Communications and Social Psychology, and a minor in Writing. Journalism is in my blood, so that means I’m inquisitive by nature, will double-check sources and/or get a second opinion as needed, but also fair and balanced in my reviews. If my reviews seem more positive, energetic and have high ratings, it’s because I love tea. :)

If you are a tea company, I’d love to review some your tea! Free samples are always welcome so I can fully enjoy the freshest selections. I’m also open to tea swaps as I always have too many teas on hand to drink & would love to share with other tea enthusiasts! :)

My Simple Rating Scale (as of Feb. 2011)
>50: I’m NOT a fan. I could barely finish the cup, if I even did. I wouldn’t even recommend this to my worst enemy. Not worth my time nor yours.

51-65: Good aroma, good flavor. Just nothing pops to give the tea that special kick. Recommended to try; our tasting palates differ.

66-79: Yes, finally, tea – unique flavor profiles, great aroma & flavor. Recommended to try; our tasting palates differ.

80-99: These are cupboard essentials – delicious, aromatic and perfect everyday teas. Re-steepable (beyond at least one steeping). Highly recommended, fun for all ages.

100: These are my favorites, the ones I would take with me if stranded on a desert island. Beyond Highly Recommended.
