drank Rhubarb & Strawberry by Lupicia
4277 tasting notes

So I was very thrilled to try this one. Thanks SO MUCH for sending some over, Kawaii433! I love rhubarb. I’ve tried quite a few rhubarb teas and usually they’re delicious. This one might beat them ALL. This is a black tea, with strawberry bits and quite a lovely fragrance. Others have mentioned mostly strawberry, but to me, I’m getting pure tart RHUBARB with hints of strawberry sweetness in the very background. I love the balance this way. The black tea itself wouldn’t be a showstopper, but it’s the perfect carrier for this flavor to take over. The second cup probably shouldn’t have been steeped for three minutes, sometimes the flavor gets oversteeped and the black tea can take over. I learned a long time ago sometimes a flavored tea needs a short steep to let the flavors remain the focus. I’m very happy this is in my cupboard.
Steep #1 // 1 1/3 teaspoons for a full mug // 20 minutes after boiling // 2 minute steep
Steep #2 // 8 min after boiling // 3 minute steep

Here’s another of my wacky recs: I pretty much watch zero horror movies, so I don’t know what horror fans think of this show, so maybe I’m not the person to give my opinion on this. But I thought all four seasons of Channel Zero were great. I watched each season when it was released and they are pretty solid all around and haunting even now. They are weird in their own way mini seasons/ story lines at six episodes each, which seems ideal for such weirdness. Maybe someone who actually watches horror movies can tell me this show is crap. haha.

Most of the teas listed in my cupboard are actually sample sizes. I don’t really have 2,000 ounces of tea around here! Many of my teas have only one teaspoon left… maybe two. But I like keeping them in my cupboard list for reference to what I could be sipping. Usually, I write tasting notes once for each tea. I’m still drinking them, just not writing tasting notes each time!

I’m always in search of: Hattialli, Qu Hao black, Jin Jun Mei, teas using marshmallow root.

My dislikes: hibiscus, ginger (unless in chai), turmeric, bee pollen, charcoal type flavors

My ratings:
95-100 – Super awesome deliciousness favorites – cupboard essential
80-95 – Also pretty delicious
65-80 – Pretty good
50-65 – Okay
1-50 – Probably won’t want to sip it again

I’m planning on being a Steepsterer as long as there IS a Steepster, so if you’re not hearing from me, that means something happened to my health… if you know what I mean. (Or as evidenced by the great computer hiatus of 2019, something happened to my computer… I have a dumb phone so can’t access internet on that. As of 12/20/21 my wifi might start getting unreliable.)

Happy sipping!
