Trying a cup of Jasmine green tulsi while goofing off on this holiday weekend. I love jasmine tea, and I was intrigued by the tulsi or holy basil.

The scent of the steeped tea is nice and relaxing; it isn’t flowery like jasmine, more earthy which I’m guessing is the tulsi. The taste is earthy too; I’d say it’s like green tea with almost a slight minty aftertaste. I think I may have steeped it too long – a mistake I make quite often with my green teas. I will definitely try it again at half the steep time to see if the jasmine comes out more when it isn’t overpowered by the tulsi.

I agree with the previous review that this is a really mellow chai. So mellow in fact that I can’t taste anything other than black tea! Not that that’s a bad thing, but I was really expecting the spiciness of a chai. That’s the only reason I’m giving it a low rating. (As a black tea, it’s decent.)

Now the company, Shanti Tea, I’m very happy with. I took advantage of a SwarmJam deal to buy as many sample tins as I could. The sample tins are very generous, and at $3.45 each they make it very affordable to try out their variety of teas. The shipping was super quick. Depending on what I think of the other teas, I’ll be shopping there again in the future.

After reading all the reviews for this tea, I’m wondering if I’m doing something wrong.

I love the smell of the tea in the tin. I’m a big fan of coconut and vanilla. And I love almost all the teas I’ve tried from Davids Tea, so I’m not sure why I’m ambivalent about this one.

I found my tea to be way too weak even at the maximum steeping time (with the proper amount of tea). I’m not getting the creaminess and butteriness that everyone else seems to find. Maybe I have to up the amount of tea to strengthen it. It does smell delicious though.

I’ll have to try this at least one more time to really judge it properly.

I bought this the other day on my sister-in-law’s recommendation. I love rooibos tea, I love coconut, and I’m just starting to experiment with lavender in my baking so I thought this would be a great combo.

I too noticed the faint oil slick on top of the tea; thanks Paul for pointing out that it’s the coconut oil. The scent is primarily lavender, but the taste is primarily coconut. It’s quite yummy! I like the creaminess of the tea. This may not be a total favourite yet, but it’s definitely growing on me.

This was the first tea I bought from Davids Tea (on my sister in law’s recommendation). It is still my favourite tea today. I like rooibos tea for its natural sweetness, and the coconut and chai spices give the tea a nice little kick. I always have to have a tin of this in the house.

Oh Canada is by far one of my favourite teas from Davids Tea. The sweet scent of maple, the cute little maple leaf candies and the yummy deliciousness of rooibos tea all come together to make a mugful of heavenly delight. Seriously. Instead of dessert after dinner, this is what I reach for. It is fairly sweet on its own, but I do add a teaspoon of maple sugar to enhance the taste. Mmmm…I’d make a cup right now, but I’m all out!!
