173 Tasting Notes
I’m not going to rate this just yet. Today I brewed this and had it hot, using 1tsp per 8oz of water. It’s good, but a little on the weak side. I love the pineapple smell, and love pineapple in general. The apple is actually coming through quite strongly in this, as well as some of the floral.
On that note, if anyone has a suggestion for truly excellent pineapple tea, PLEASE let me know! :)
Preparation
My sister gave me a whole bunch of Harney & Sons sachet teas for my birthday. Paris is the first one of the bunch that I’ve tried. The aroma of this tea dry in the bag, and brewed, is fabulous. Lovely balanced tea, and seems to be more of a mellow tea, which was nice. The fruit and caramel are subtle, yet noticeable. Personally I wish the caramel flavor was a bit stronger, but this time around I just tried the tea plain. I’m sure a bit of sugar would bring out the caramel and vanilla a bit more.
Preparation
A friend gave me a sample of this to try. As soon as I got home I had to try it out- I mean, the tea has popcorn in it! Wut?! I was intrigued.
You can really smell the popcorn which makes this a fun cuppa. It didn’t translate into the taste much, but the scent was nice. The sample she gave me was a good balance of tea and the dried fruit, with one larger piece of popcorn. I brewed according to the directions and had it hot. It was not overwhelmingly fruity, and to be honest, I would have to say that I would have liked a bit stronger fruit flavor. Overall I liked it, not sure if I liked it enough to go out and buy a little bit or myself.
I love how everyone is describing this tea as manly! Maybe I’ll make my guy have a cup or two in hopes that his beard will fill in :P
It really is a nice smoky tea, and I love the balance of green and black teas here. I didn’t pick up on any hazelnut in this first cup. I tried it plain, and then added 1/2tsp of sugar hoping to bring out the hazelnut. No go. I’ve actually never had tea with milk or cream… I might have to give that a try.
Preparation
I have these teas separate and blend them myself, so I don’t have the added sugar that a lot of people are mentioning. That being said, this blend is sweet enough by itself without adding any sugar! The candied fruit in the Samurai adds the sweetness. I love the mix of fruity and spicy. The scent is a very strong cinnamon, so if that isn’t up your alley I wouldn’t recommend this. The reason I’m not rating this higher is because I wish I could taste a better balance of the spices. Frequently I find myself tasting just the cinnamon, and a hint of pineapple (which I still love!)
Preparation
Bitter. So bitter.
Lol, but seriously, I didn’t really care for it at first, but then again sometimes black tea by itself can be a bit much for me. It did have some nice citrus notes, but not quite as much as I would have liked. Upon adding some sugar the fruitiness came out a bit more. This time I tried it warm, but it does seem like it would make for a good iced tea so long as its sweetened.
So, like Anderson, I didn’t like it at first, but perhaps all he needs is a touch of sweetness :p
