Drinking an iced jasmine tea that my roommate made :)
First time drinking jasmine iced and I actually really like it!

Dude. So I dont love my roommates, as much as my previous ones, but like my two of my roommates now DRINK LOOSE LEAF. THEY REFUSE TO DRINK BAGGED TEA AND IT’S GREAT. I obviously trump them on like… the tea craziness scale, but I’m just happy that I live with people who appreciate loose leaf :)

mj

Actually the first jasmine tea I ever had was iced and I had it that way for years before ever trying it hot

Jasmine is the first tea I’ve ever fallen in love will, since waaaay back in 4th grade! Now I’m in college and I just had it iced.
I should really try my teas both iced and hot from now on :)

mj

That sounds like double the tea to me…excellent :-).

Cheri

I cold brew jasmine quite a bit. It’s really nice that way.

Arshness

I feel you. My wife and sister both drink loose leaf with me and I have four friends who come over regularly who appreciate it too and it makes me SO HAPPY. Why do we love sharing our tea? It just makes happies in me to have people appreciate something I love so much.

Going into my second day of training at Disney today! Totally forgot that there’s no traffic on a Saturday morning so I arrived i Anaheim like an hour and a half early… But it’s okay! I decided to pass by Starbucks so I can get energy today :)

This guy made it *okay. It did get a bit bitter so it’s just an okay cuppa

VariaTEA

Yay for Disney training! That sounds so exciting :)

It was a 7 hour day and 4 hours of it was spent at the park. We walked through all the different lands that made up California Adventure, and spent half an hour in each land talking about its history and how it linked to Walt’s life.
It was pretty much an 8 hour history lesson on Disney! It was great, but oh my gosh walking around the park in full business clothing in the 85 degree heat. I’m exhausted!

I remember really liking this tea the first time I had it, but now it just tastes like… Guayusa. I’ve taken a couple sips and I think I’m done. Ahh I feel terrible! I know it’s a great tea, I have no idea what went wrong this morning.

Posting at 5:30 in the morning because I have to be at Disney by 7:30! First day of training, here I come!

Ahh forgot to log this in! Last tea of the night and I drank it a couple hours ago :)
Just a nice small cup of a caffeine-free tea as I was getting to know my new roommates. They already know me as a tea-crazed person and I’ve already given a couple of my jasmine teas to Angie haha.
Well, it’s nearly midnight and I have to sleep! Gotta wake up at 5 tomorrow so I can have a good breakfast and get ready for training for Disney!!

Still remains to be one of my favourite black teas! The liquor definitely isn’t as dark as other black teas, it does take more of a light amber colour. I love how smooth it is, and it’s not bitter at all!
Running low on this, and just one more cup and I’m done :( Ahh well, looks like I’m going to have my cousin get me some of this! Julie’s is the cutest little coffee and tea place in the entire world and they’re only in her town. Dang.

Refreshed Steepster to find Rosehips’ note on Vanilla Comoro, and read that the fantastic Mr. Harney has passed away.

Harney & Sons was actually the first to introduce me to the wide world of tea. Lupicia introduced me to quality loose-leaf, Adagio I pretty much only got into for fandom blends, but I was looking to expand on loose-leaf companies, and Harney was the first. Excited to see that Harney appeared in my local grocery store and at Barnes & Noble. I definitely have some sort of emotional attachment to this tea company okay.

So here’s a cup for you, Mr. Harney. Thank you so much for starting this company, and sharing your knowledge with all us tea lovers :)

Preparation
180 °F / 82 °C 3 min, 0 sec 3 g 12 OZ / 354 ML

Well said. Cheers.

It’s nearly 8pm and I’m taking a risk with this tea. This tea is nowhere to be found on the Lupicia site, and a google search would bring me back to this page.
I got this tea from mother when I was cleaning out her tea chest, and taking all her old teas that she would never drink, so I decided to be a good daughter and take them off her hands hehe :) This was in a holiday pack that she got last year, and they are all individually packed and portioned, so I don’t even know what kind of tea it is. I’m assuming it’s rooibos/decaf, since I did find it bundled with a bunch of other caffeine-free teas.

SO. THIS TEA. Let’s see what I’ve got!
oh darn. It definitely looks like a black tea! Looks like I won’t be sleeping tonight ahha. Well, let’s hope that it’s decafefinated ahhaha
It smells really nice though. Sweet caramel and chocolate. I can’t quite pinpoint the exact smell, but I definitely have had a flavour like this before, in some sort of food. I can’t stop smelling it! It smells so good! Now let’s hope it tastes as great as it smells :)

Dude. This is probably decaf. Not gunna lie, it’s pretty weak. I don’t usually go for decaf teas because of this very reason. Slightly flavourless, but it has that ever so slight hint of creamy, chocolatey, caramel goodness :)

I would really like to know what this tea is made up of though. And know if it’s decaf or if it’s just a slightly flavourless black tea. If it’s meant to be decaf, I’d definitely buy like 1oz of this tea since I kinda like the small hints of flavour! If it was bursting with flavour, it’d be a bit much.
If it’s meant to be a straight, flavoured, fully-caffeinated black tea, then it has a weak flavour. I’d definitely expect chocolate punch in the face upon first sip, but that did not happen.

Ahh I really like this tea though! I really want to know what’s in it!

I weighed my wee sample, and I have just enough tea for a small 4oz cup later on :)

Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate, Cream

Sipdown!

Sipped down two teas today and got two more so numbers just stayed the same. Ahh well. I’ll get through all my sipdowns eventually! I actually decided to rearrange my teas since I just moved in and.. dude. I have so much tea. I haven’t had a lot of them and I feel terrible! Oh well. I have a couple tea boxes coming in so I’ll take small samples of a bunch of teas, and I’ll replace it with tea I have a lot of, so I can get the amount down to sipdown status or something :)

I actually have no idea if I’ve had this tea before? Like it was in my sipdown pile, but I have no idea if I just sent this tea out to a lot of people.
Nice aroma. Chocolatey and I smell that good spice :)
Ehh. It’s just okay. The black base is a bit week, or the chocolate probably toned it down a bit. It does have a nice chocolate taste, and a bit of the spice. Tastes like the cinnamon sweet potato mash that my uncles sister made for Thanksgiving last year. Reminds me a bit of that chocolate orange spice from Teavana that I tried from the Teeny Tiny Tea Box! Good, but not great.

Flavors: Chocolate, Cinnamon, Spices, Sweet, Sweet Potatoes

Mmm such a great oolong. Nice light roasted flavour, but the smooth and creaminess of milk.

Today was a very successful shopping day! Met up with my roommate and her little mini-me cousin and we went shopping. Definitely wasn’t planning on spending money, but I ended up buying two pairs of sandals. Buy one get one free so might as well! Got 50% off some massage oil from Bath & Body Works, and bought myself a book! Let’s just add that to the pile of like 7 books I’ll have to read haha.
Went to Teavana to get my free oz of tea and decided on the Monkey Picked Oolong. The lady who was helping me out said that I had to purchase tea with it and I was all.. blehh. But it’s totally cool. I asked her which tea was her favourite iced and hearing stories from Teavana, I was surprised that she pulled down a $7 tea. Ended up purchasing the Cucumber Melon Cooler (I chose that on my own and was willing to pay the $12). It smelled nice and seems like it’d make a great iced tea! Definitely happy with the service I had at Teavana. I definitely remember two trips that didn’t go so well with my mother like 2-3 years ago, so this trip was great!

Successful day. Definitely spent more than I wanted, but I’m happy with my purchases :)

Flavors: Smooth

Was that a Starbucks reward? If so, you are not supposed to have buy any tea to get it…

Seriously. Well now I’m upset, What the heck, Teavana, no one likes you.

Tea rating guide:
100-95: Best thing to ever touch my mouth and I want more. Restocking is a must
94-80: Love this tea. Restock if I can
79-70: Decent tea. Neither love nor hate.
69-60: I won’t be upset when it runs out. I’ll drink it but won’t restock.
59-30: I’ve done whatever I can to like this tea and I’ll finish the cup.
29-10: I’ve done whatever I can to like this tea. It may or may not have gone down the sink…
9-below: Let’s not even hide it. This definitely went down the drain.

I love tea.
I drink it.
I log it.
I have a good time.
Lather, rinse, repeat.

I first discovered my love for tea with jasmine teas because that’s all my mother would buy, so for the longest time, I thought that all teas were jasmine! And then in 4th grade, I watched the tea episode of Good Eats and that’s when the education started! I’d like to blame Alton Brown for starting this obsession because now I only like loose leaf tea.
It wasn’t until my second year of college that I actually expanded my tea taste buds. Special shout out to Cara McGee, Tea Queen for her Adagio Fandom blends. Because of Cara, I actually started drinking blacks, herbals and whites and pretty much everything else in between. I still have a special love for my jasmine though :)
I (try to) drink tea daily. Usually just straight up, no sugar or milk. This little obsession started young and just… kept going, I guess.

also I apologize in advance for lazy tasting notes and horrible grammar in everything I write. I was an avid fandom blogger on tumblr and tumblr talk can get in the way of everything kthxbai
