726 Tasting Notes
I still have no idea what’s in this tea but I’m drinking it and I have just enough of this to make 4oz and it’s pretty perfect since I’m drinking out of my finum baby teacup tonight!
Caramel and chocolate. It was surrounded by a bunch of caffeine-free teas when I got it so I think it’s safe to say this is decaf? Ahh well, it’s a nice tea. Just like before, if it is supposed to have all the flavour, I’m expecting it to be caffeinated. If it’s a decaf tea, then it’s how it’s supposed to taste: slightly watered down. Good tea, glad I was able to try it out :)
I haven’t had the time to drink tea and I’m kinda sad about that :( BUT I’m trying my best to try to drink whenever I can!
I remember a while ago I would drink too much tea, but now I’m like drinking way too little. Tea tea tea, come back to me!!
But thank you tons to Sil for sending this tea my way! I have so much tea to get through and I’m happy to be slowly going through a lot of my sipdowns :)
This just smells like lovely and sweet maple syrup and it has large pecan pieces in it and I’m just so excited to try this! My water is done boiling now and I’ll just… keep working on my assignment so that the temperature will lower a bit.
It smells nice and sweet, but it does have that slight medicine-y taste to it. Hmm I’ll probably just have to play around with the temperature and steep times! I can tell it’s a great tea, I just have to figure out how I like it :)
Red Leaf Tea – Sample #13
Side by side comparison with Sample 14, 15 July 2014
Dry: Nice, bright, and lovely! It looks so similiar to #14
Straight: A darker shade of green for the liquor, but it has a nice bright froth. Both froth and liquor are lighter/brighter compared to #14. Hmm grassy. That’s it ahha. Not super gitter, but really grassy! Very matcha-esque haha
Latte: Nice and smooth but hmm… it’s just /okay/ right now. Not the best matcha I’ve had. The good ones don’t need extra sweetener on top of my vanilla almond milk to pull the flavours out, but this one tastes a tad bland. Good, but slightly bland on its own.
Colour: 85
Flavour: 78
Bitterness: 876
Suggested Price: $11
Red Leaf Tea – Sample #14
Side by side comparison with Sample 13, 15 July 2014
Dry: Nice, bright, and lovely! It looks so similiar to #13
Straight: This one has a darker liquor and a darker froth as compared to #13 as well as others. Now this one does have a bit more bitterness and grassiness to it. Not the best, but still good. #13 is better in this round.
Latte: Oh so this one is just okay. It does taste a bit more bland compared to #13! Huh, maybe it’s me? But the two matcha bases were just okay so that carried onto the latte.
Colour: 83
Flavour: 72
Bitterness: 70
Suggested Price: $9
((and with this, I’m finally done with all the samples!! Dang, that took a long time, but at least I’ve finished!))
Definitely one of my favourite teas from TeaForte!! They’re an.. okay tea company. I LOVE their tea pyramids since they’re just so darn cute, but they do tend to run on the pricier side so I very rarely purchase from them. But this is one of my favourites, and I have to thank my sister for sending me some of their teas. That tea trio that she got me is all finished up now! Goodbye African Solstice, you will be missed.
I was intrigued by this tea a while back and decided to get a half an ounce of this when I visited their store. The lady ended up nearly doubling what I asked for :/
I know this didn’t have the best reviews, but wow this tea tastes super gingery. Well, my throat hurts so much so I figured I’ll try to make this soothe my throat! But oh it smells so gross… like old damp socks freshened up with ginger…
Hmm, well at least it doesn’t taste that musky! It just… yeah I’ll like force this down my throat, but I’ll probably throw this into tea boxes and whatever and give it to people to rid this tea from my stash
My first sipdown in SOOOOOO long!
I’ve been busy with Disney okay haha.
But thank you QueenOfTarts for sending me a huge sample of this. I think I was able to get like 5 cups!! I love it so much and I definitely cut a ton of corners with this tea. If I know I need energy to last me through the day, I just throw it and some vanilla almond milk into my timolino and then I’m out the door :)
In other news, I worked a 6am to 1pm shift today and as I was driving home, I decided to grab some chipotle. I was already getting a lot of stares since I was still in costume. The lady at the counter told me to have a nice day, and I responded with “Thanks! And you have a magical day as well!!” ha. IT HAS BEGUN.
Another backlog from a couple nights ago.
I do so much talking at work and my throat isn’t used to it. It like hurts a lot whenever I talk, but luckily I haven’t lost it yet! I’m down to my last bag of this and I might need to replenish.
This tea, I really don’t like the taste of it at all. It tastes way to medicine-y and licorice-y and gross, but it’s the only one that helps soothe my throat.
I’d happily drink jugs of this tea if it means that my throat will get better, but alas, I think I can only take a single 12oz mug of this tea every once in a while.
Backlog from last week from when I worked a super long shift and was still not used to everything Disney! This is such a quick tea bc I’m lazy haha. I literally just measure like a tablespoon of this into my timolino and pour cold vanilla almond milk on top and just shake it as much as I want all day long! I love this tea tons :)
Does adding milk and shaking only work with the “matchaccino” blends? I know next to nothing about matcha but I think it would be a wonderful thing to start my mornings off with or have when I need a boost in the afternoons.
I use regular matcha in almond milk with a bit of chocolate stevia or hazelnut stevia. Awesome! I think the difference between matcha and matchaccino is sugar.
Thanks! I don’t think I have the space to buy the utensils to make matcha the traditional way but I LOVE the idea of adding some almond milk, shaking, and heading out the door.
I read a thing from Red Leaf that they put something in their matchaccinos that helps it froth more. And you need to use nearly 3times as much matcha!
In my head, I feel like the shaking bit would froth it up a bit, while if I did it with regular matcha it’d stay flat.
My brain just has weird logic, that’s all ahha
Sorry it’s not related to this tea, but have you tried Natsukoi?
Oh don’t apologize!
But enlighten me, what is Natsukoi? I googled it and I got anime, a song, and a game. I’m not familiar with it whatsoever!
It’s Lupicia two versions of lemon teas black and green, limited editions. Since you live near Lupicia I thought you know;)
Oh!! Haha, silly me!
But I used to live near Lupicia. Or at least it was just a quick train ride away. Now that I’m back in Southern California, the nearest one is about a 45 minute drive. And with the traffic, that can be double :/ I pretty much only visit Lupicia whenever I’m home, which is pretty rare. Sad for me, but my wallet is happy ahha
45 min is nothing;). I go for harney or kusmi or David’s and it takes me 1hr to get to manhattan by train.
But I have to drive! Trains are fun. I just hop on and I can read and do whatever. Sitting in traffic? Naww, I can do something else with my time.
