553 Tasting Notes

There is nothing I don’t love about this tea. I love the name, love the packaging, love the tea! I don’t drink unflavored teas that often but this tea proves to me that I need to. Such a fabulous tea. Raisin like with malty touches. No astringency. Just a smooth well balanced tea that I have been drinking every day for the past week. So Good!

That artwork sold me.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

That was what sold me. After vacation I’m picking up the other two blends. I’m addicted to Wendigo Tea.

Awesome artwork. And they had me suckered in at “golden monkey” so I will also be purchasing in the near future. After I recover from my Mandala purchase. :)

This tea was one of my favorite flavored green teas. It had the wow factor for me. I couldn’t have asked for a better flavored green tea. Loved it.

So when the whole Kickstarter campaign started with 52Teas and this was one of the front runners to be re-blended, I confess. . .I pledged a ton of money to the campaign because I needed this tea back in my life.

And now I have it. I actually couldn’t wait for my Kickstarter incentive to come, I just bought more from the site. Jason and I sat down to a pot last night while watching Abbott and Costello with my sons. We watched Abbott and Costello meet Frankenstein. My 9 year old loved it. My 5 year old payed attention as well as he could. Such a fun night.

Anne did a great job at reblending this one. She created a more subtle flavor that the original which I like more. Gives the tea a really nice haunting feel. I’m on my 4th infusion of the blend and tho the taste is weaker. . it is still there. Kudos Anne (& Amethyst) Kudos!

For the rest of the rant. . .

One of the best cold brewed herbal teas I’ve had. I loved the lemony orange flavor with hints of honey. Sweet with a citrus tang. When I brewed this one up hot, there wasn’t a wow factor or a this tea rocks feel. Don’t get me wrong, it was good, just not mind blowing. Cold brewed is how to enjoy this tea.

And in case anybody is obsessed with owls like I am. . . Here is a post about a handmade Owl Charm Infuser that I recently discovered. . .

This floral blend is just about as perfect as a floral tea that I have had so far. I love it. Sweet but not overly floral. Love how the rose petals and jasmine really play together nicely and create a refreshing relaxing blend.

This was another fun Etsy Tea shop I found. I really enjoyed this one. It was light and refreshing. The perfect combo for a summer tea. Refreshing with a tropical fruity flavor. My only concern was that there is stevia in the mix and you can taste it when the tea cools. My advice is to drink it up before that happens. I’m curious to try this cold brewed.

This is an interesting blend. I honestly wouldn’t have been able to tell you this was a green tea if it hadn’t been labeled as such.

The dry leaves smell more like a Cinnamon Jolly Rancher with a clove twist. When brewed up, this tea takes on many different flavors. Each time I have steeped up a cuppa, the flavor has been different. You can always taste the cinnamon but sometimes the tea has a more muddled taste than others. I’m not sure if it was me not shaking up the pouch enough or what was going on. Regardless a very interesting cuppa and one that I want to spend more time with. I think if I can experiment with the steeping parameters enough this tea could be a knock out.

This particular tea was part of the Stylish Ave monthly subscription box.

Would you recommend? What ingredient makes it “with a twist”? I’m really into cinnamon/chai flavors (- licorice) so this interests me

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I think the twist is that this is a Green Chai with citrus notes? I’m not really sure. I didn’t pick up any citrus notes when I drank it. My boyfriend and I shared several cups of this (we both had the same shared thoughts) and it was a very interesting/confusing tea. I brewed this up in my Breville On Touch so I know it wasn’t a water temperature deal. I just read another review of the box and their view was completely different than mine so maybe its me and my tastebuds. They said it reminded them of Christmas. Not what I was getting. I’ll send you a PM of the other review so you can see what they said about the teas.

This was a pleasant surprise. Didn’t think I would like this one as much as I did. The ginger was subtle and the cinnamon didn’t overpower. There was such a roasted smooth flavor. Very well done. I could see a resemblance to coffee. I cold brewed this for on my way to work this morning. I can’t wait to try it. I’m pretty impressed. Another Etsy Store find.

My goal someday it to replace my 1 cup of coffee I need to drink in the morning to get going, with some sort of tea. Have yet to find the perfect one though.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

This is good and could work for a morning cup but I have discovered one that I think will be my new go to tea in the mornings. I find myself craving this tea all the time. I will be doing a review on it later this week.

Oh I see, it’s a golden monkey tea? Those are really good! My favorite so far is by Nepali Tea Traders. http://www.nepaliteatraders.com/collections/black-tea/products/himalayan-golden-black-tea-rich-mellow

Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there!

This tea was a bit sugary when brewed up hot but cold brewed overnight this was a maple syrup delight with hints of apple and a bit of tartness thrown in from the cranberries. Almost like a dessert.

This tea was fun. It was a lightly flavored vanilla black with a very light orange finish. It was perfect for my afternoon light reading of the Aunt Dimity series.

I’m back and hopefully for good! After a bit of a hiatus, I want to get back in the habit of logging my tea journey for various reasons.

I never know how to start these things. I’m a 40ish tea loving gal who enjoys tea parties, horror movies and polka dots/plaid. I have an amazing supportive husband who has allowed our house to be over run by tea in more ways than one. We have four kiddos between us along with our two furbabies that we love as much as they drive us nuts. Our family truly is our world.

Now on to the tea: I love all kinds. I’m not a huge fan of red rooibos- truly is my arch enemy but I love green rooibos. Beyond that, I’ll try everything once or twice to make sure I didn’t bumble up the steepings. Recently got into puerh and enjoying the adventure. If you are interested in something from me, just holler at me. I’m always up for trying new tea blends or sharing with others!

I’ve also started blending up my own teas at http://www.cuppageekteas.com/ I try to make fun unique blends to brighten someones day with.

I am also the admin behind SororiTea Sisters. If you are interested in reviewing teas for us, let me know!. We are always looking for guest reviewers or contributors: http://sororiteasisters.com/.
