Buttery and leaf smell. Sweet.
mild buttery smooth flavor with hint of green/vegitation more then floral to me. Milder then I expected with scent even though I over brewed (at work).
Smooth, buttery/ light creamy coconut comes out more then the green/vegitation as it cools. This is a very gentle tea, not harsh at all. I’m especially impressed since the water was hotter and it brewed longer then recommended.
This seems to be a very good and forgiving tea. I’m looking forward to how the second brew comes out.
I forgot how much I missed a good Oolong.
Second brew, a bit more hollow and green/vegetation but with a buttery after taste with a very slight floral more along the jasmine line then other floral. I didn’t over brew this time but the first over brew may have affected it.
Flavors: Butter, Coconut, Floral, Vegetal
Preparation
Got this as a sample from Upton. Before steeping smelled bold and a bit earthy to me. Smells very organic brewing- kinda like a forest with a lot of earth after the rain. The sent starts strong and a bit offensive to me but as it brews, it becomes gentler. Flavor is also earthy to me. Initial taste with a bitter quality. I did brew the full duration recommended. May try it next time a bit shorter. After taste is gentler.
So I’m drinking this at work. I’ve got to say, the scent is relaxing walking back to it after leaving the room. As it cools a bit, the initial bite is still strong but the aftertaste is satisfying. I really want to try this with a shorter steep next time. It’s a bit bold for me but holds a lot of promise.
Edit: as it cools, it becomes better. This would likely make a really good iced tea.
Edit 2: I routinely do a second brew on all leaf since I love seeing if it works, even if I expect it won’t. This one worked better then I expected. Ever so slightly softer but surprisingly similar to the first brew. Perhaps a bit more fig like.
Preparation
So I was curious. I tried a 3rd steep. Much weaker but not in a bad taste way that often happens with repeat black tea steeps. Certainly not as good as the first two but certainly drinkable to me. I’m starting to really like this as a work tea where I can use one serving and get 3 cups. Especially since it handles well cold when I have to leave it for a time.
If someone said roasted peach to be before, I wouldn’t know what that smelled like. Smelling this though, that’s the word that comes to mind. There is a sweet scent, but not nauseating. I’m getting my hopes up as this brews because it smells great brewing- I don’t know how to describe it other then like vacation. The initial sip is a gentle sweetness. (of note I don’t like sweet and tea but I like this). There is a definite peach element but not overbearing- gentle. In the end though, I think a bit more complexity of flavor would have been good. Personal preference though since if this had been based on my personal favorite flavor Rose instead, I would be in love.
The tea smells of chocolate and gentle rose. Nothing very strong. When brewed the scent has rose and mild chocolate, not too intense. The taste I found was a good balance of tea leaf, chocolate and rose. No one taste was stronger then others.
Preparation
Tasting this again today (still had some in the bag). And for some reason, it’s better today. Maybe it’s my mood, maybe it’s growing on me. Still not my favorite and the green is still a bit strong with the rose weak but there is something comforting here today that I can’t put my finger on.
Got this tea as a gift. The fruity sweetness of it is about to the edge for me but it’s not bad. I should try it iced, I may enjoy that more. To me it tastes almost juice like. Not bad. I’ll finish what I was gifted for sure but probably won’t buy it again. I really don’t taste any of the floral elements it claims, just the fruit. It would be much better if the fruity flavor was toned down a bit so the others could come out.
I got this tea after reading about it in the tasting notes of another tea I like. This one has a faint rose smell before brewing that seems to disappear after brewing.
Flavor white, the rose flavor is gentle, not you your face (although I like in your face). It’s refreshing but not something if you want a bold flavor. Not bad but very gentle.
I heated water to boil then let cool a minute or so first before steeping as the box instructed
This is take two. I have to say this tea seems better today. I did brew it at a lower temp (exact temp unknown since I’m at work). The black tea’s flavor is gentler in today’s brew and the rose while still not as strong as I’d like is more noticeable. I think my scoop had a few more rose buds as well today. Interestingly, when at it’s hottest, the flavors were well balanced. Then the black tea peppery flavor became dominant and as it cooled further, the rose became more dominant.
I continue my search for a tea to replace my prior favorite that is becoming hard to get. This one gave me more hope initially. The leaves were wonderfully fragrant of rose and black tea with a great balance. After steeped, it became a bit more herb like and malty then rose scented. I can smell the rose but I feel like I have to search for it. On taste, it is certainly black tea. It does not feel gentle. It’s not my favorite black tea due to being a bit harsh but doable. The rose seems lost in the tea though. The main flavors are malty, peppery. There is a slight sweet aftertaste that may contain rose. I prefer a more in your face floral rose rather then sweet though. I will note that a lot of reviews note petals, my leaf though contained full buds. It was just packaged 10/31/2016. Perhaps that is a difference in this ones flavor to some of the other reviews that sounded like just what I had wanted. I’ll also note that initial steep time was 4 minutes and I steeped longer to try for more rose flavor and it failed.
Edit: as it cools, the rose flavor does improve. Still doesn’t match my prior though. I upped the rating for that. I just need to remember to let it cool some before drinking.
I got this tea to try to replace one that became hard to get. I will note it doesn’t match that so I may be harsher in my review though I’ll try not to. I found the sent was distinctly green with mild bitterness. I only got a hint of Rose scent. For flavor, it was greener then expected. Much more green then rose. There was less of a bitter aftertaste then with some green teas. I was underwhelmed with the Rose flavor. The aftertaste was mildly sweet.
