TP42: China Rose Special Chun Mee

I was in the mood for something strongly scented and earthy, and this fits the bill. Earthy isn’t quite the word I’m looking for, since it is most definitely floral, but the chun mee gives it a definite kick. I guess it is smokiness, someone else once commented on the smokiness of the chun mee, so maybe that is why “earthy” springs to mind. It has a somewhat heavy mouth-feel to it. Lots of body.

I’m still rather on the fence about this one, but since I keep drinking it I must not find it that offensive! It definitely isn’t going into the “replace immediately when gone” pile of goodness, but it isn’t bad. I do definitely see the resemblance between this tea and rose scented soap. Great, now every sip is going to remind me of soap. Nice going!

Smokey green tea and rose don’t blend together superbly but quite decently. The rose flavor is very strong, heavy and natural. I found myself enjoying this tea but unable to drink more than a small pot at the same time.

Tasting this again today (still had some in the bag). And for some reason, it’s better today. Maybe it’s my mood, maybe it’s growing on me. Still not my favorite and the green is still a bit strong with the rose weak but there is something comforting here today that I can’t put my finger on.

I wanted to like this, but the tea and rose flavors don’t blend particularly well and I end up tasting something bitter and almost soapy. It smells lovely, it just doesn’t follow it up on taste. I’ll probably put the rest of my sample to use making some kind of face mask or toner with the cooled tea.

A slightly cloudy green-tan liquid with the hypnotic smell of rose petals. Despite its sweetness it has a slight bitterness that is unpleasant. I think the bitterness is actually coming from the rose petals rather than the tea. The tea itself is submerged under the rose petal taste. Not one of my favorites.
