412 Tasting Notes
Malty, earthy, deeply fermented aroma.
Raisins, nuts, chocolate in taste, but all in all the tea is rather watery, not rich enough.
May be good with milk, but on its own it’s quite disappointing.
Flavors: Chocolate, Earth, Malt, Nuts, Raisins
Preparation
Equally strong vanilla and strawberry notes, very warming aroma, slight nots of base white tea in the background. Very balanced smell.
Curiously, the base tea is dominant in taste. Vanilla and strawberry notes are in the background, rather subdued, but still prsent and nicely complementing the base.
Nice, warming, well balanced tea.
Flavors: Grass, Strawberry, Vanilla
Preparation
Strong malty and earthy aroma with hints of honey.
Strong taste, quite earthy and malty, very low bitterness and astringency, slight nutty notes.
Solid black tea with very focused taste, not aromatic.
Flavors: Earth, Honey, Malt, Nuts
Preparation
The smell is mainly honey with base white tea. The lemon component is very subtle.
The taste is a bit surprising, because it’s the white tea that mainly stands out. The honey is subtle, and the lemon subtler still.
Good as an autumn/winter warmer, but rather misleading, because the amount of lemon in smell and taste is very low.
Flavors: Grass, Honey, Lemon, Winter Honey
Preparation
Moderately strong aroma, very balanced. The mint doesn’t dominate, seems equally potent as the warming orange. But that’s not all – the overall aroma brings spring meadow to mind.
The taste is also balanced, with solid notes of the base white tea, slight warming orange and refreshing mint. Good, but I prefer mint on it’s own or in Moroccan way.
Flavors: Flowers, Freshly Cut Grass, Grass, Mint, Orange
Preparation
Very strong peach aroma, but it doesn’t completely dominate the background white tea notes.
Very good taste. The base white tea is of high quality, with fresh, grassy notes, complimented by assertive peach flavours.
The tea is very refreshing and warming.
Flavors: Cookie, Freshly Cut Grass, Grass, Peach
Preparation
Nice combination of subtle orange and grassy/straw notes of green tea, with delicate honey flavour in the background. Warming and refreshing.
In taste the base green tea (not bad for a tea bag) is dominant. The gingery spicyness is almost nonexistant, orange notes are subtle.
Not bad, but I expected more.
Flavors: Ginger, Grass, Honey, Orange, Straw
Preparation
Upon opening the box the bergamot aroma is very fresh and strong. Unfortunately, it doesn’t transfer to the brewed tea. There, the bergamot is barely noticeable, you can smell only bland base tea with slight generic flower notes.
The taste is very bland, very watery, with almost no Earl Grey character whatsoever.
Yes, Netto teas sold under the “House of Tea” brand are nothing special, but they are generally quite drinkable. Their “Earl Grey” is an exception… The good news is, it cost me only 3 Danish kroner (promotional price) ;)
Flavors: Flowers
Preparation
Before brewing the tea bag smells really good, really smoky, like good-quality loose-leaf Lapsang teas.
When brewed, the smokiness is still quite strong but one can sense overlying base tea, quite bland in fact.
In taste the smoky notes are rather unpleasant, they feel like chewing a roasted branch, and the base tea seems very watery.
Very disappointing. No comparison to high quality loose-leaf Lapsang teas.
Flavors: Smoke, Smoked
Preparation
The aroma is quite promising – balanced combination of plum, bergamot and star anise. Almost no tea, though…
And the taste is extremely watery. The plum is dominant, the bergamot is subtle, the anise is surprisingly in the background. Moreover, quite important component is missing – tea itself!
Fot the plum-flavoured water it’s quite nice. For tea – extremely dissapointing.
Flavors: Anise, Bergamot, Plum
