drank Honeydew Mate by DAVIDsTEA

This was a free sample from David’s and not one I would have bought – mate and melon are not my favourite tastes individually let alone together. However it was free….so nothing to lose. And what a pleasant surprise. This was light and breezy and thankfully lacked that earthy quality of mate. The melon comes through with just the right amount of sweetness and I enjoyed the aroma too. If I had more (and sadly I can’t get these teas delivered to the UK so only if I am sent them by friends can I drink Davids Tea) I would try it iced with a touch of fresh mint from the garden.

So I expected sweet earthy orangey vanilla tastes. I got artificial bland chemical weak tastes. So, I added some stevia and the taste improved a tad but this is a big let down. It has so many bad reviews that David’s should reconfigure this tea using natural flavourings and send it to each one of us who has found it bad and renew its name!

Very delicately fragranced and benefits from a long steeping. However once open I found that even in a sealed container the delicate fragrance and taste of the rose faded fairly quickly.

Very clean pure leaf herbal tea. Fresh and light as the mountain air where it grows. Refreshes the palate and stimulates the senses. No heavy aftertaste like some mint teas can have.

My first sample from Verdant and no disappointment. Came with comprehensive tasting notes but I wished I had drunk the tea before reading them. Have had 3 western style steepings from the leaves. The first one making me keen for the next. A wet smelling tea – like cooked pak choi. Subtle smoky hints that gave way to an even more subtle moscatel undertone. It felt like a secret that was being shared. Third steeping was too weak for me to get beyond the wateriness of the brew. Havent’ foudnthe much written abotu oilve oil notes but maybe that it because I am used to a rich pungency from Spanish extra virgin oil and this tea did not have that. Am going to try gong fu brewing with the remainder to see if I can get deeper into the flavours.

Roughage lives in the UK and a few others following me if you take a look. I’m keen on the Verdant Tea selections. Glad to see you here.

I am not a fan of pu-erh. This one smells heavenly – just a hint of smokiness and evokes s lightness and clarity. Its liquor is a deep and enriching amber. I have high hopes of one day finding a pu-erh I could like but this one stared off with promise but in the mouth still tasted like kippers for breakfast. Sorry Lahloo, I can tell this is quality but I still don’t like pu-erh!

A lazy summer day with a cool fresh breeze, waves lapping the shore but your eyes are closed as you connect with the peace and joy in your heart. This is Mojitea. Given to me by a friend who knows who much I love tea and how much poetry and soul I believe each cup of tea to have This expresses the potential we all have to be light of being and at peace with ourselves. It is a young tea and reawakens the memory of carefree days. No bitterness, no heaviness. Taste and see that it is good!

Love to be out in nature feeling the wind on my face and the sun on my back. Searching for the peace and holiness of each moment even when in the eye of a storm.
Tea is a healing remedy here in the UK – a practice learned from our grandmothers in early childhood. The mature woman loves the variety of expression in tea and the surprising and exhilarating new places that can be explored in the tea cup. Sometimes it is nice to come home and sit with a cup of a familiar old standard blend – the pacifier down the years.

Teaching healing yoga is one path, practising reflexology is another but tea is the universal path.
