I was in the kitchen at 8am cooking and kept at it for nearly 10 hours today all the while sipping on this tea. I didn’t get a chance to take detailed notes on each steep, but I can tell you it did resteep very well. I believe I stopped after 7 steeps just so I could end my day with something herbal.

Each steep rewarded me with something just a little bit different, this was surprisingly complex for a black tea. There were notes of dark chocolate which of course appealed to my sweet tooth, followed up by just a subtle hint of bitterness. Not enough to make the cup unenjoyable, but just enough to make it interesting. Early steeps of this tea resulted in a more malty flavor with a sweetness at the end, whereas the later steeps gave the exact opposite in flavor and yielded a more chocolatey sweetness with hints of malt. Every once in a while I would pick up a somewhat salty note that contrasted with the sweetness. This is a tea that will appeal to all of your cravings and it isn’t often I’ve come across one that is both sweet and salty.

Dry, the White Peony Master Grade Bai Mu Dan gives us sweet trees right off the bat. Maybe it’s the Christmas season getting to us (whatever happened to Thanksgiving?), but you can almost detect a hint of pine.

And then you steep it.

This tea explodes out of the cup. The fragrance is incredible as soon as the hot water hits, suffusing the air with flowers tightly enclosed within their pre-spring buds. Wow. From the eggshell-pale liquor, you get… Full review here: http://snooteablog.com/2013/11/26/snooty-tea-review-yezi-tea-round-1/

Hello, Dragon Well Master Grade Long Jing. Unlike the white, this green tea has a subtle aroma out of the bag. There’s something cool and clean about it, that would almost fool you into believing it’s as light as a Sencha or Gyokuro. Is that a promise a sweetness? Say it ain’t so! Dragonwell may be one of the most common types of green tea, but already there is nothing common about this fella. In the cup, we get that promised sweetness indeed, a freshwater dragon who brings on the rain.

It comes out even paler than the White Peony, surprisingly; the liquor we’ve got here is a shade you’d sooner find while hunting pearls–or marathoning Say Yes To The Dress. But hoo boy, this flavor. Your cup holds… Full review here: http://snooteablog.com/2013/11/26/snooty-tea-review-yezi-tea-round-1/

sipdown! that’s going to be such an infrequent things for me for the next little while so i may get back in to tracking them more :) I had the last of this early in the morning to kick off my day since i knew i only had a single cup’s worth left :) I am still a fan of yezi teas. they have great customer experience and their teas are pretty delicious. :) Will have to restock again once i get through the remainder of their teas in my cupboard.

I started the morning today with this one. I know, it’s not a fancy french tea but it’s one of my older teas and i’m still doing my best to keep my cupboard from being no older than 6 months. I managed to not make any purchases in April AND get my sipdown goal in, but May is another story. lol I haven’t added all the teabags to my cupboard yet either, mostly because i’ll be doing a few swaps in the short term and don’t want people asking for those teas as i only have 1 bag of each.

This tea was a great starter to being back home. So many things to do today to get organised for “real life” ugh.

Terri HarpLady

Welcome home!!

Sil

it’s nice to be back…drinking tea and relaxing :)

Dinosara

Welcome back! It’s always nice to get back to your tea cupboard. :)

oh man..today is a super busy day. I’m trying to wrap up things at work, run errands, get ready for vacation and in the midst of all of this, i’ve had 3 people approach me about possibly applying for other jobs. sooo yay? but OMG SO BUSY!

trying to get in some tea drinking though since i need the water/liquids and because i’m not sure how much i’ll get in over the next few days. still enjoying this but i’m having trouble lately as i’m bored with a lot of my teas.

Fjellrev

w00t for potential job switches!

Sil

yeah here’s hoping…

Fjellrev

I’m sending positive thoughts your way. You deserve better!

Indigobloom

first cup of the day from a few hours ago. Not much more to say on this one that i haven’t already said. It’s a smooth cup of tea, not my absolute favourite but really enjoyable. An every day sort of tea.

tea of the morning hat i had hours ago with breakfast. My other half and i are trying to get the house cleaned up – in sort of a mini winter cleaning or whatever. It’s making for a long productve day with not a lot of computer time haha. Still enjoying this tea quite a bit, though i vastly prefer it at home than in a travel mug.

gmathis

It’s a good tidying day. I got my living room back this morning :)

backlog from yesterday because it was a blah day and i wanted nothing to do with anything lol Still sick and going in to work over the past couple days has me slipping back a little so it’s a work from home day today…aka drink lots of tea! so apologies to your dashboard :) I had this yesterday and it was delightful as always. I’ll likely be restocking this one as i am a fan. The last little bit of this is off to a friend since i noticed today it is neither in their cupboard, nor have they tried it heh

oh god….life saving tea today. it was an indescribable delicious tasty cocoa-y mess of goodness…that kept me from killing anyone.

note to anyone who is a people manager out there….if you have an employee who is doing 5 people’s jobs and kicking ass at 4 of them, do NOT tell them that a conversation needs to happen about that 5th job because it’s not being carried as well as the other 4 jobs…ESPECIALLY when that person is also doing 15-20 hrs of overtime a week to keep things going. grrrrr

yyz

Unfair….

Especially if you are not being renominated for it. One of my friends went down to part time at her job because she returned to school to perdue her dream of a PhD only to be basically still be doing her old job because the new hire either is too lazy to put in the work or does not have the skill set to do the job ( she apparently wants to build software by pasting and clicking from other peoples work).
Though at one of my jobs it was not so uncommon for people to be worked to the point that they were so exhausted that they would have car accidents leaving the parking lot.

yyz

Renominated was remunerated.

Sil

naw… i mean i get OT…but today was also a conversation about how legally i can only work 48 hours..so can they hire a contractor or someone to help me…to which i responded…sure if you want me to rack up more OT babysitting said contractor since i know you won’t hire ppl at the level i need them to work lol

yyz

True. If it’s not a long term position that they are willing to invest in training the person you are probably better off, just dealing with it.

Terri HarpLady

Plus, if they give you an assistant, they’ll probably pile more work on too, just to make sure they’re getting their money’s worth.

OMGsrsly

Oh my goodness. ~hands you another cup of tea.

Lariel of Lórien

This will be my next order from them.

I pulled this one out today because i feel like i haven’t had it in a while. I really do love Yezi’s black tea offerings, and some of their puerhs have been really nice as well. I just need to remember not to buy so much in one go so that i have an excuse to place more frequent orders lol.

TTC and Yezi – teas tha ti have quite a bit of, but i’ve been putting off getting in to while i finished up some of my other teas. But now it’s time to start getting back in to them along with my norbu teas heh. I am still loving this one a bunch. I’m really glad that Tastybrew introduced me to Yezi and that they seem to be sticking around!

Sipdown! (143) But not for long since there is more on it’s way :) I did a bit of math this morning and with the 45 teas i picked up this weekend i need to do roughly 41 sipdowns by dec 15 for my cupboard to remain under 150. This is really just because orders from the US tend to take 10 business days to arrive. My goal really is to keep my cupboard under 150 through to the end of the year and then, focus on making sure i continue having no tea older than a year in the house. Ideally i’ll work down to a 6 month period now that i’ve landed on what my preferences are and have a better idea of what i like/don’t like. Also, puerhs don’t count haha.

The last of this little bit is off to Nicole since she hasn’t experienced yezi teas yet. :) I quite like this one – malty with cocoa notes :)

Dinosara

Haha I have no hope of staying under 100… not in the least because I have no easy sipdowns left. But I’m ok with that!

Sil

all i hear is “Sil you can catch up with me!” :)

Dinosara

Haha not with 45 more teas coming!

Nicole

Woohoo! :)

Sil

I’ll take that as a challenge dinosara ;) I like motivation haha

Working from home today to give myself a bit of a break. Still far too many things to finish up this week to warrant an actual day off, but at least this way i get to hang out in my pj’s drinking tea and working. Plus the time i save from not having to travel, i can use to watch a bit of TV haha

I picked this one for my first tea this morning because i had it a couple days ago but hadn’t had a chance to actually get some thoughts down about it.

This is a chocolately, malty brew. It’s neither bitter, nor smokey. My only “complaint” is that it feels thin? still delicious and tasty but i keep wanting it to be more full in my mouth. I’ll likely pick this one up once i’m done with the amount that Tastybrew sent to me :)

Edit: 3000 tasting notes!

Stephanie

3000??? daaaaang

Sil

haha i sometimes forget to log things too.. but it’s a fun number.

OMGsrsly

Go you! :) I’m tempted to make today a “work at home in PJs” day, but I actually have to go in and set stuff up for tomorrow. Oh well!

Sil

i wanted the rest of the WEEK to be pj day… the worst? i had seven things i needed to get done today and were the whole reason i stayed home in part too…to be able to focus on them.. yeah it’s 4pm (i started at 7am) and i’ve completed ONE SINGLE THING RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRRRRRRRRRR so tired of escalations and issue

CHAroma

Holy cow!! Congrats!!!

Sil

thanks CHAroma!
