Nabo 2022 Advent Day 24: Mintchoklad
This was surprisingly tasty. The mint fell more to the background and the foreground was all liquified dark chocolate. I found the cinnamon and nutmeg added a complexity here that wasn’t immediately attributable to either spice. A really interesting and unique mint chocolate tea!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 24
Odd choice to save this one for the last day? When they had several other more festive teas earlier in the calendar.
I’m finding it a bit bland? I can taste some herbaceous peppermint and a touch of sweet cinnamon, and there is a bit of a milk chocolate note from the cacao. The black tea gets lost, and I don’t taste vanilla or nutmeg.
Mostly it’s just a somewhat muddled peppermint though, with some cinnamon. It needs more of something, as-is it’s just very blah.
Flavors: Cinnamon, Herbaceous, Milk Chocolate, Peppermint, Sweet
Preparation
A last from Nabo and honestly not much fan of it. At first, I generally don’t like chocolate teas as they lack in flavours. Secondly, I prefer dark chocolates and if possible, no flavours added (nuts are welcomed exception, but as a pieces, not flavouring).
Mint is a ingredient in chocolate that is very hit or miss for me.
So, I was sceptical seeing this tea (maybe it is Swedish thing though). It has got quite strong alcohol aroma.
When brewed, it wasn’t much better, however luckily it has not transferred into taste. The taste was chocolately, but a bit artificial for me and not “dark” enough. It was rather milk choco for me, and the mint was somehow strange addition there. As from spices that are in the ingredients, I don’t think that I have even noticed them.

Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 23
Nice to see an oolong, but sadly it’s far too rosy for me. I do get some fruity notes of lychee and apple, but otherwise it’s pretty much all rose flavoring.
Nope! :P
Flavors: Apple, Floral, Lychee, Rose, Sweet, Tart
Preparation
Well, this was so good I have steeped it twice.
Be careful, it is very floral and can imagine it is not for everyone. But oolong base was very good for me, with tropical fruit notes, overall it was nicely sweet and floral. Maybe rose went a bit overboard of florals, but I highly enjoyed it.
They say “… a sweet and fresh floral combination that makes us think of summer.” and I have to agree, it tasted like a summer in the cup, which certainly isn’t a bad thing for me.
It jumpes into wishlist without more ado
Preparation
It was only Advent tea I had yesterday while Sonnentor Acid-Base Balance was the second and decided to postpone that.
I completely agree with Courtney that the aroma of dry and even steeped tea isn’t nice.
However in steeped notes I agree with Cameron a little sweet cinnamon tea, pretty much cacao here, with fruity, blueberry taste. I know she didn’t noticed that, but I did! I didn’t noticed the orange though.
Nice one.

Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 22
I actually quite like this one…
It’s like a version of a cinnamon candy rooibos, but the cinnamon is more restrained, and I can taste the cocoa and a bit of the orange. There’s sweetness as well, but just a little bit, which goes well with the sweet cinnamon. I don’t get blueberry flavoring, but I don’t think I would want it anyway?
I would consider ordering it, but it’s not listed on their website either so… consideration over. :P
Flavors: Cacao, Candy, Chocolate, Cinnamon, Orange, Rooibos, Smooth, Sweet, Wood

Nabo 2022 Advent Day 22: Vinterns Godbit
This one smelled strongly medicinally cinnamon dry, and the steeped scent wasn’t much better. That didn’t come across in the taste, but instead the bitterness of cacao nibs did come through. I wasn’t a fan of that, but at least it wasn’t medicinally cinnamon in taste!
Nabo 2022 Advent Day 21: Svarta Vinbär
I’m really enjoying this one. Very black currant-y, but in a liquified black currant way as opposed to flavouring. A lovely tea after a frigid day (it’s been -40° C here)! We’d order this one for our cupboard.
And I am here complaining with temperatures around zero centigrade with rain — so everything turns into ice immediately it reaches ground. I have been unfreezing company car for 20-30 minutes?
Today it is 57F (14C) and we had a thunderstorm for a good part of the morning. Tomorrow night the low will be 17F (-8C). Having read what you guys are having, I will now stop complaining about what we are having…
Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 21
Berries again, ha ha…
This tastes just like a black currant candy. It’s sweet and syrupy and has that deep cassis flavor to it. Not much else going on, the base is a bit astringent, or maybe it’s the added leaves.
It’s fine, black currant isn’t a favorite flavor for me, and I tend to prefer it mixed with other flavors, as it’s a bit cloying on its own. A little bit of added tartness would go a long way here, I think.
Flavors: Astringent, Black Currant, Candy, Jam, Sweet, Syrupy, Tannic
Preparation
Oh, this is supposed to be black currant tea?
Not so sure about that. Yep, the taste and aroma was somehow familiar, the tartness as well, but if it is blackcurrant?
Maybe as I wasn’t expecting it, I wasn’t sure what was the flavour. Now, smelling used leaves indeed seems to be.
It was quite pleasant, but I would say fruity with tart element. I will repeat myself, I haven’t found out it is currant flavor.
The base tea was fairly strong as well and I have enjoyed it after getting home from the pavements full of glaze ice.
EDIT: Note 1400 :O
Flavors: Fruity, Tart

Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 20
A very late start to advent teas today! Too much working… Luckily, four of them are herbal.
This is… interesting. Courtney called it deodorant and I kind of get where she’s coming from, it does taste like something that would be a fruity deodorant scent ha ha. Confused why pear is in the name, but the flavoring is lychee? I’m not sure how I feel about the lychee and the quite earthy ginger together… And on top of that, the licorice root is doing that mouth-coating cloying thing that I hate.
Not for me!
Flavors: Earthy, Floral, Fruity, Ginger, Licorice, Licorice Root, Lychee, Sweet
Preparation
Whew… Christmas shopping over (almost). And I even bought some teas, but only for the giftees and none for me. Yay, that was a great achievment for me. There were so interesting and good ones (based on their names), new companies for me, but I have been restrained and bought none for me.
Anyway, this tea should be pear and ginger tea on green tea base, but sadly, I would say it is green variety of tea with rose. I noticed just rose with mediocre green tea base, which was hay-like and quite flat in flavour. A little sweetness was there, but honestly no pear in that for me! And ginger? Not at all!
Preparation
Lmao, me too :‘) I want to place soooo many orders, but I’m forcing myself to get my cupboard down to 100 teas first! Only another 158 to go…
Nabo 2022 Advent Day 19: Italiensk Sockerkaka
I ordered 50g of this one and haven’t ever sat down to make a note. While it is tasty, I always find myself wanting something more here. More depth or complexity. I think the flavours all play well together, and it’s quite light-bodied overall. A says this is reminiscent of panettone.
We discovered vegan panettone this year but didn’t manage to order one before they sold out. Perhaps next year!
Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 19
So this is meant to be a panettone-flavored tea, but I don’t think I’ve ever had a panettone with cinnamon in it? Usually they’re more just buttery and orangey with dried fruits and sometimes chocolate. (Also, it’s not really a cake, it’s more of an enriched bread, like brioche…)
It’s a nice enough festive tea. There is a strong orange presence that’s sweet and does remind me of the flavor of panettone, however the cinnamon is also quite strong, which takes it more in the direction of an orange spice holiday tea. There is a certain buttery brioche-y quality to it as well.
It’s a nice restrained orange spice tea with a bit of a desserty element. Now I kind of want to try panettone with cinnamon, like a cinnamon raisin panettone… :O
Flavors: Bread, Butter, Cinnamon, Citrus, Orange, Sweet
Preparation
I asked my Swiss (she has got Italian roots) friend what should be in panettone and she told me that it’s up to you. Mostly fruits are used, but if you like raisins or cinnamon, or whatever, it’s up to you!
This should be Panettone flavoured and honestly I got nothing from it.
Actually, I feel it is a bit flat in flavours; little spicy black tea. Citrus notes? Not so much.
Fine, but not memorable either. Or I just don’t remember even recently drank tea?
Preparation
Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 18
This one is bit… odd.
I like all of the components, but I’m not sure I like them together. Jasmine and mint and lychee AND lavender AND berry…? I think it’s the berry that’s throwing it off for me, it’s a bit artificial-tasting and it’s particularly weird with the mint.
I am intrigued at the idea of a jasmine-lychee-mint tea now though. Hmm…
Flavors: Artificial, Berry, Candy, Floral, Fruity, Herbaceous, Jasmine, Lychee, Medicinal, Mint, Peppermint, Sweet
Preparation
Yay, for once I am not the first one who writes a tasting note about Nabo advent!
Honestly, this one turned bitter as well, but differently and mostly because my, rather long, steeping time. My father filled my mug, told me that I have tea ready, but I had an idea what to write to topic: Logistical centre and offered services and when I finished the sentence / paragraph, it was maybe 4 minutes at least. I went to take the tea out, but it damage was already done.
But even it was steeped for longer period of time and thus bitter, it wasn’t bad. The clove was predominant note from the flavors, followed by star anise. I did not notice any vanilla at all. Little cardamom in the background.
Overall it was quite robust and strong tea, which boosted me with energy and mood to work on more topics today. And although it’s ten pm now, I am about to write, at least, one another. I feel I am in the productive flow and I don’t want to miss it out.
Flavors: Bitter, Cardamom, Cloves
Preparation
Nabo Advent Calendar 2022 – Day 17
Kept my steep a bit shorter for this one because I noticed it has CTC black tea in it.
It smells like cinnamon candy, but in the taste I mostly get clove and star anise, with a bit of sweet cinnamon in the background. There is some creamy vanilla, but it doesn’t stand up well to the strong spice flavoring. Not being a huge clove fan, it’s not my favorite, though the star anise does help detract a bit from the clove and take it to more of a licorice-y place.
Definitely preferred their other spiced teas, especially the gingerbread one. :)
Flavors: Anise, Candy, Cinnamon, Clove, Creamy, Custard, Licorice, Spices, Star Anise, Sweet
