It’s the time! Advent season! Yay!
If only I did not had so busy day. From work directly I went to my friend’s and we were talking about ADR exam I have next week (he is already DGSA) and it was helpful, but it was 90 minutes drive there and back and I have been there for two hours.
So, I have returned back home at 7.30 pm approx., realising it is December 1 and I need to drink two Advent teas (this one and Sonnentor) — 2 other advent calendars are somewhere in transit. I will drink them on January, or in June as countdown to my birthday.
Either way… what a start! Gingerbread house. So festive! The tea smells wonderful. Full of spices and flavour.
What comes first to the mind after sipping is orange peel. Very distinctly, and it is not very common here (nor in Poland) in gingerbread. Maybe it is Swedish version of it. Then the base, which is, somehow metallic for me? And then the warm spices, from ginger, cinnamon, cardamom… somehow mixed together. I believe a hint of sugar could make the flavour more round, but I never sweeten my teas.
Great start from Nabo, indeed. Looking forward to next days.
Preparation
2022 sipdown no. 61
This one I wasn’t too sure about at the beginning, but after about 1/4 bag, it really grew on me. I shortened the steep and found that quite helpful. The aronia berries are at the forefront here, and being such a bold flavour I don’t get too much peach. I think the peach adds some complexity to this tea, because it certainly isn’t pure chokecherry. The blackberry leaf adds hints of sweetness, but nothing overwhelming or cloying. Overall another wonderful tea from Nabo and one I would re-order.
Preparation
This one really is like a Swedish orange Anna’s cookie. There is also a roasty flavour mixed in that adds depth.
Preparation
This smells delightfully berry-y. I’m actually smelling blackcurrant, though this tea doesn’t have that. I’m thinking it’s the mix of raspberry melded into the blackberry and blueberry. What is lovely is that it smells like actual berries as opposed to a stronger scented berry flavouring. The flavour is subtle, yet has a full mouthfeel. The black base is smooth and completely non-astringent. This tea is a winner!
Preparation
I couldn’t pass this up because of how unique it sounded. I loved the idea of mixing coconut with citrus to make it ‘sour’. The steeped scent is very sour lemon-y with hints of coconut peeking through. The overall flavour is mostly a softened lemon, mellowed out by coconut.
Oh hey, since most advent calendars have 24 slots you totally could use it as a countdown! I have a reuseable advent calendar I’m gonna try to convince my boyfriend to fill with gifts for the whole of June now XD haha.
Exactly! That was my idea about that. Well, I think I will see when they will arrive after all!
