This is much better than Della Terra’s Oatmeal Raisin Cookie. I was beginning to think that pastry-inspired tea was just not for me. I didn’t love this, but it did give me hope that these kind of teas might be ok.

The best thing about this tea is that you could still taste the base under the cinnamon. It was rich and dark. It was also really smooth. There was a note that tasted like raisins, but turned a little more to chocolate as it cooled. The cinnamon was nice, not fake tasting. There was something artificial that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. It was kind of like that dreaded soy lethicin taste I hate, but not quite as strong. That’s the one thing that didn’t make this tea a win for me.

Sil

psssst try cinnamon swirl bread from steap shoppe.

TastyBrew

I second sil’s comment.

Sil

haha says the one who’s responsible for my decline..

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Lol! I was looking at their website today and thinking about placing an order! :-) Maybe after I receive my current Butiki order.

Sil

Janet has some kick ass customer service as well.

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Good to hear! I’m trying to pace myself with buying teas. I don’t think I have the space for 200+ teas in my place. :-)

Sil

hey! i’m almost under 200…if none of my swaps come in, should be there before the weekend lol

Fuzzy_Peachkin

Woohoo! I say I’m going to pace myself because I know I could quite easily get up to that many teas myself. It really is addicting!

Terri HarpLady

Yeah, Fuzzy, you have room, because when you go off the deep end of tea ‘collecting’ somehow you keep making more room….& more room…

Terri HarpLady

Sil, my dear, there is no such thing as ‘almost under 200’, LOL
Either you’re over 200, at 200, or under 200. Ask Yoda, he’ll tell you. ; )

Fuzzy_Peachkin

:-) I’ve already made space where there wasn’t any. At least tea is less expensive than running shoes.

Sil

fuzzy…depends on how much tea you buy
terri – says you! i can see the finish line…right…there!

The smell of this tea was SOOOOOOooo much better than the Japanese cherry. It smelled grassy, almost like hay and a little flowery. It reminded me of being in an open field.

The taste starts out grassy just like the smell. It’s got a lightly sweet aftertaste that is intensified if I hold it in my mouth. As I smell more of it and as it begins to cool, the grassy smell becomes more floral and the sweet taste becomes a little more defined as fruity- kind of a warmish apple taste?

Overall a pleasant tea. I look forward to trying another cup of it.

I received my Ocho Sampler from Joy’s Teaspoon today! Yay!

The smell coming off the dry-leaf reminded me a little of cherry cough syrup. I’ve always been pretty tuned-in to artificial flavors and can usually detect them quickly, but I decided to try it though to see if it would taste any better.

The tea liquor definitely tastes like cherry and I found it kind of aggravating that I could differentiate between both the natural, floral-tasting cherry and the artificial flavoring. It kind of drove me nuts because the real flavor was pretty nice, but the fake stuff kind of left this soapy aftertaste that ruined it.

I probably under-leafed this because it was very one note. The base as far as I could tell was a nice, light, green base.
I tried sticking the infuser back in to see if it would help bring out the base a little more, but it got a little to bitter.

I also made up a cup for my mother and she enjoyed it, but then again she has never been as sensitive as me to artificial flavors and drinks things with them all the time.

This tea wasn’t for me. I bet other people would like it though. I like a darker chocolate, I think this is a milkier one.

In the past couple days I’ve had this and forever nuts and I’m pretty sure they are the same. This tea is ok for me. Tealizzy is right that brioche tastes very similar to this but with a good black tea base. She’s so right. I love brioche, but I like the dimension the black tea adds to it. This tea tastes ok, but just seems to be missing something. Plus I’m not a fan of the beetroot.

Update: Actually, this one is growing on me. Not as fakey as forever nuts. More apple maybe? Hmm, I may actually reorder this.

The aroma is breathtaking!

After watching a youtube video showing clips of Starwars people saying “Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.” I immediately reached out for it.

It is an unusual EG! Flowery and gentle, it is a soft EG slowly draws you into its charm. Thank you for sharing this very nice tea with me, Melanie!

Serenity

Mmmm sounds delish! And before a hoard of Trekkers descend let me just nerdily share: Star Trek, Next Generation, Captain Jean-Luc Picard says that. And every time he does, I want it!

Kasumi no Chajin

Love both Star Trek and Star Wars!

Here you go! This is a bad pic of my son the Sandtroopers after being on stage with Weird Al! His helmet is off, of course, in this pic. http://www.flickr.com/photos/24998856@N06/6575121663/in/photostream

I’m both a ST and SW fan myself! I like the pic ashmanra:)

This was really good, it would be great alone and mixed with desserts.

I don’t think I’m going to rate this one. I received a little tin of this from the wonderful QuiltGuppy, but it has no description on it. In an effort to clean out my tea drawer (and shelves…), I decided to make some of this this morning. I had just finished brewing it when I remembered that for some reason I had set this aside for De. The name led me to think of an oolong with fruit, orange and red fruits. That is not at all what I tasted XD. I don’t like basil, and I don’t like lemon in my tea. Pairing all of that with the fact that it was completely not what I thought it was, it doesn’t seem fair to rate it. De will like it, though. I’ll save the rest for her.

Thanks for sharing, QuiltGuppy, sorry I am made of fail!

This tea smells fantastic. It reminds me of chocolate brownies. It is delicious, but add cream and sugar and it is sinful!

First I want to thank KeenTeaThyme for sending this for me to sample. She added two other goodies that I am anxious to sample but since I am a chocolate addict I decided on this one first. Next let me say I LOVE Joy’s Teaspoon!
The tea smelled like chocolate and made the kitchen smell lovely but the flavor was not what I was expecting. This was not my favorite chocolate tea…something seemed off with it to me. I can’t place it but I am glad I got to try it.

KeenTeaThyme

Guess you had a similar response like I did… now I don’t feel so bad. Maybe I’ll try to tweak it. I’m still a huge fan of that tin! I am currently storing some advil in the lavender one I had and makes the pills smell nice… great. now I sound like a drug addict! ;)

I’m not a big chocolate-in-tea kind of person (OK, stop throwing the tomatoes!) so my review is a bit slanted. I like this tea OK; got it in a sampler pack. But it’s not something I would buy on its own. (This is why there is no rating.)

So my review: the chocolate taste is strong and bold. There are cute little chocolate chips in the tea which help the chocolate flavor. I ended up dumping the rest of my cup, because I didn’t care for it at all – chocolate and spicy. BUT that’s because of my dislike of super chocolate-y tea. (I like it mixed with other flavors but not on its own.)

If you like chocolate tea, this is the one to try. In fact I’ll send the rest of my sample to the first person who asks for it. :)

Kristen

Too bad you already sent my package.. I would have taken some to try LOL.

Daddyselephant

I’m with you on this one…I don’t have a whole lot of use for chocolate teas. You’re not alone!

KeenTeaThyme

@Kristen – I’ll send it. Seriously – it’s in a cute tin. :) Just say the word and I’ll send it. :)
@ladykittykat – whew! I was thinking I was some kind of weirdo… ;)

Kristen

Ok you don’t have to twist my arm… I will take it! ;)

Kristen

I sent your package today but if there is anything of mine you would like to sample just let me know!!! thank you!

Uniquity

I got a little sample of that too which I am terrified of, since I am not a chocolate in tea person either.

KeenTeaThyme

Kristen – thank you! :) And I’ll send this out tomorrow morning. (Seriously, the tin is beyond cute.)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t taste this at all, so I’m not going to rate it. Have a cold and my taste buds are all out of whack. Sad. . .. .

KeenTeaThyme

So sad! :( Save until you are over the cold. It is my fave from Joy’s Teaspoon.

Nichole/CuppaGeek

I used all of it unfortunately. Wahhhh!!!! Oh well. :)

I’m not going to rate this tisane just yet, as I’m still on the fence. I love how minty, refreshing, fresh and calming this brews up. I drank one cup on this relaxing Sunday and the tisane tasted nice. Decent. But afterwards I felt thirsty – this has never happened before.

So I’ll brew up some cups during the week and see where it stands…

Kristen

Weird…I just tried matcha for the first time and have the same thirsty feeling. I can not seem to get rid of it. I have never had it happen before either.

KeenTeaThyme

Me either! It’s very odd…

This is my last free sample from joys teaspoon thank you very much. Backlogging. This is a very good tea especially if you want to warm up. The cinnamon is the strongest followed by the tea and the pear. I tasted everything and it blended well. This is a good tea.

This is another free sample from joy’s teaspoon thank very much. This tastes like pineapple with some mango and I am not sure if I taste the passionfruit or not and the green tea is light and subtle which I like. I am fond of tropical fruit teas and the pineapple and the mango blend well in this and I really enjoy this tea. And one I am thinking about buying.

I got this as one of three free samples from joy’s teaspoon thank you very much! This tastes like orange and star anise and the black tea. This tea is pretty good although the star anise is abit strong for me anyway. I like orange teas and this is good.

The blender bottle makes it so much easier to mix up matcha! Had half a tablespoon w/14oz of water, 2oz of coconut almond milk, a little bit of clover honey. It was the perfect alternative to the ice cream I was craving.

14 ozs of water, 2 ozs of half and half (the only milky substance I had on hand), 1 tbs of matcha and a dash of honey. All went into the shaker bottle for a cold, yummy morning treat as I try to work up the courage to run in this hot, muggy weather. The treadmill at the gym is looking mighty appealing right now.

I “stole” my brother’s protein shake blender bottle to shake up some almond milk, a little honey, and a tablespoon of matcha. It blended really well this way and it was nice and cold!
