The hibiscus should really be toned down (though if hibiscus is in the name, maybe that’s an unreasonable request). There’s not a lot of depth, mostly just the tart flatness with a bit of spice. It’s okay cold, but it does need a lot of sugar. My sister received this as a gift, and she was happy to have me help her use it up.
Strange VariaTEA TTB #36
I pulled a bag of this out of the TTB to sample later and finally got around to it at work this week. I don’t have a temperature-controlled kettle at the office, so the water may have been too hot (though I did let it cool for at least 20 minutes after boiling). Not sure I would have loved this even if I’d brewed it with more care, though. It didn’t have much of a scent and the flavor was also fairly nondescript…a little grassy, a little fruity, but nothing that specifically screams “pomegranate”. Drinkable but forgettable!

Strange VariaTEA TTB – Tea #5
Thought I would give this one a try, because a fruity green sounded good.
It’s decent. The base is fairly grassy but I don’t mind that. The flavoring is a bit nondescript to me, I think I could probably pull out cranberry perhaps, but otherwise it just tastes somewhere between berry and red fruits. And there is a bit of that chalkiness that I often get from berry flavoring, unfortunately.
Still a pleasant cuppa to sip on while watching tea videos, but I think I’ll leave the rest of it in the box.

I’ve had this tea for a bit. I believe I picked it up at the Christmas Tree Shoppe. I learned today that this tea company is owned by Whole Foods which is owned by Amazon. The tea bag I have has a defunct website listed on it, which led to me searching the internet. I also learned that this tea “helps lower blood pressure”.
This is not my first cup but I keep trying it because I have a belief that I “should” like this tea. The ingredients are all things I like and I love the color and scent. But I think if I’m honest, I don’t care for it and that’s why its still lingering here. It’s mildly tart with a hint of spice. I kind of wish the spice was less subtle. I think it might work well for an iced tea or cold brew for the summer.

I tried a sample of this from a TTB, and it’s pretty excellent. The black tea is so malty and lovely. Adding milk makes it into such a smooth cup. This has everything I love in a plain black tea. I should have saved some more, but I’ve already mailed the box to the next person – oh well!
It’s been years since I tried a Banaspaty (probably from Upton), but it’s really bringing back good sensory memories!
Sipdown (613)!
Two tea bags, cold brewed overnight then mixed with chia this morning for a morning cold brew with some extra protein. This wasn’t actually bad; I have a gut feeling that cold brewing probably produced a better and smoother flavour than this tea would have ever been capable of as a hot tea. It reminded me a lot of DT’s Green Seduction blend; same sort of sweet pomegranate note with a bit more of a grassy, sharper green edge to it. Worked very well with the chia though and was quite refreshing.
This was a really fresh, clean, well balanced tisane with a zippy mouthfeel. I’m not too keen on mixing cinnamon and mint and prefer if the mint is the dominating note. I think it’s done well here and will appeal to a lot of people but the cinnamon is still too dominant for me.
My goodness! With hobiscus, cranberries, and rose hips, I would expect a lip-puckering tartness! “A spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down, the medicine go down, the medicine go down”!
