76 Tasting Notes
I really wanted to drink a white tea but I saw this and I haven’t tried it yet so here we go.
This is really good.I’m pleased with my purchase. It reminds me of a chinese sencha. It’s very refreshing, this is a good tea to have with my usual midnight meal of hummus and carrots. It’s certainly vegetal-y, more beany than grassy. There is a bitterness that I actually like but it may be because the water I used was too hot. Also, I’ve noticed a sweetness at the back of my throat but that may be from the sweet vidalia carrots I’m eating. What-evs. Good green tea. Happy to give it a home.
I was worried, but now I’m not. This tea is amazing. I’ve been concerned about trying this because I haven’t traditionally been a fan of flavored teas. However, since I discovered companies like Della Terra I’ve learned that some flavored teas can be really well done. That is to say they can still maintain the flavor complexity and texture that is the reason I love tea in the first place.
I just want to say, that the steam coming off of this cup smells to me like fog machine smoke with blueberry muffins in the background. The tea has a nice thick texture with no astringency and actual blueberry flavor on the back of the tongue.
My ability to write a more concise tasting note may be hindered by the nag champa aroma currently wafting through my apartment.
This is one of those teas that I don’t really like by itself, but will stay in my cupboard for blends. Reminds me of Peach Cran Tango from Teavana. This will be great blended with jasmine and either an assam OR hibiscus.
Until the day comes that I cease to drink tea, there will always be at least one jasmine scented black tea in my cupboard. This one from Tealux is very good. I served it to a lady friend the other night. She was impressed. That’s right, I seduce women with my tea.
This stuff is awesome! This tea is the bomb dot com. Take a look at the ingredients list, it has yerba mate, black tea, green tea, white tea, puerh, ginger root, cinnamon, green cardamom, licorice root, ginseng root, saffron, black pepper, clove, fennel, safflowers, peppermint, tulsi, and cinnamon, ginger, and vanilla flavoring.
It’s like a flavor scavenger hunt! See if you can pick out the individual flavours. It smells very much like a chai, the puerh and yerba mate are prominent, I can taste the licorice fennel and tulsi. I may never get sick of this tea. The 2oz. I got will be gone quickly.
The smell inside of the bag is… cumin? Coriander? Clove? WTF? It smells like the hills of Sri Lanka in this bag!
3 spears for 200ml
This takes a while to steep.
I can still smell the curry spices, maybe a little cinnamon. The flavor is like butter and honey but very subtle, and there is a very distinct ceylon flavor on the back end. It’s yummy but very light.
I got 3 good steepings out of it.
Preparation
After reading the other reviews I’m wondering why nobody mentioned the curry spice smell, it’s the most present aroma in this tea for me.
As I would expect from Della Terra, this tea tastes exactly like name suggests. It’s quite lovely. I’m still a much bigger fan of the complex flavors and textures of a high quality pure tea, but lately I’ve gotten more into flavored teas. This tea was done well. Nothing artificial tasting about it.
A tin of this came in the mail today and I could SMELL IT THROUGH THE BOX! It was inside a tin and the box and I could smell it. This stuff is way stronger than the sample I had a few days ago. I’m going to leave it exposed to air for a couple hours, then leave the closed tin on the counter away from my tea stash. Hopefully it will mellow out. What I loved about the Nina’s samples was how subtle the flavours were. Right now this tea has all the subtlety of a frat boy on spring break. I still love this tea, it’s just a little too potent right now. I rate it at 70 until it calms down.
I am glad you mention this, Rashad! My tin is also very very potent but I didn’t realize it could perhaps be that it needed for some of the carrier alcohol to evaporate. I have mine airing out now and look forward to trying a more genteel cup in the very near future!
Pretty good with food, right? I also liked it a lot… nice little green to keep aroud!
