871 Tasting Notes
This tea surprised me. The loose, dry tea, resembles more black tea than it does white. The lavender and vanilla are in good balance. This tea is sweet, creamy, and almost has a nutty flavour. The tea is heavy and thick. The lavender leaves a slightly astringent aftertaste. The more it cools, the stronger the lavender notes get. This is not my favorite tea, but it is enjoyable.
Preparation
I am not sure what to think. My taste buds are in a bit of shock. It is good. The problem is I am such an earl grey addict I had never branched out to all of the earl grey variations that are out there. I love the strong bergamot, the caramel definitley gives it some sweetness and very creamy flavour.
I am sure I will enjoy this over and again.
Preparation
I have never tasted a prickly pear, so I do not have much to compare this tea to, but I find it to be delicious. It tasted like a light green tea, with a fruity flavour, tropical flavour to it. Its sweet on its own, slightly creamy taste. The fruity flavour mixes well with the green tea.
It does leave an aftertase.
Preparation
I thought I had to give this one just one more try. I am glad I got just a small amount, still have a little bit left though.
I added in some vanilla and about a half teaspoon of rock sugar. It helped make the tea more drinkable but still not good. To me it has a chemical taste to it. With the addition of vanilla, the aftertaste is much more cola than the actual tea.
It was suggested to me to try this tea iced and mixed with carbonated water or soda water. Not sure if I will try that, but I will keep you posted.
I cold brewed this one overnight. And I am quite happy with the results. The smell and taste of this cold brew is just like fuzzy peach candies. I did have to add some sweetener (I used white sugar). I found that the definitely tastes different cold brewed, vs hot brewed then iced. When I hold the liquid in my mouth for a few seconds, I get quite a fruity profile. The pleasant aftertase lingers for just a little bit.
This is a loose leaf flavoured oolong blend.
Smell of dry tea: smells like champagne with strawberries. The strawberry scent is slightly artificial but not offputting.
Appearance of dry tea: mix of oolong leaves, dried fruit peices, flower petals, all varies sizes.
Appearance of liqour: golden pink, slightly brown colour. Medium density.
Taste of liqour: you can taste that is it supposed to be champagne with strawberries but the taste is not quite right. The strawberry taste is quite artificial. I believe the rose is supposed to give a champagne type flavour, but it is more rose and less champagne taste. I needed to add rock sugar for some sweetness and to make the tea more palatable. Very dry tasting without sweetener.
I am warming up to this tea just a little bit.
I will most likely not purchase again.
Brewed up a cup this morning. I again added some rose buds to smooth out the taste a bit.
I usually don’t re-steep but I tried re-steeping this one. The smoke flavour is a little less. The tea tastes a bit more crisp than it did on the first steep. The flavour profile stays very much the same, just a little less intense.
Still delicious!
Woke up to a balmy minus 42 C this morning. Once I got to work I made myself a cup of cinnamon spice. Nothing better than cinnamon to warm you up from the inside out. This tea smells like hot tamales candy. The taste of the cinnamon, once steeped, is a little blunted, but there is still a sweet and spicey flavour to this Assam tea. This is one of my favorites year round, it is especially nice on a day like today. Many more cups to come!
Preparation
I had this tea again last night and was a little disappointed. On brewing there didn’t seem to be the citrus smell that was present the first time. The taste also seemed to be a little flatter, only mildly citrus. I think what has happened, because the dried pieces of this tea are variable in size, that the taste depends what prices you get in your scoop of dried tea. I think I am going to have to try this one in a larger batch to see if that makes a difference in the taste.
