2574 Tasting Notes
I almost gave this one away to a family member, but I couldn’t bring myself to! For once, I didn’t use sugar, and it didn’t need it! The main flavor was of course lavender, but it wasn’t at all overpowering. The second flavor was a mysterious creaminess. The other ingredients may be there in small hints to balance out the lavender, but I couldn’t pick them out individually. The reason I bought this tea was because one of the reviews on the website mentioned making this into a latte, and I have got to try that.
Today was a long day at work, so I brought some extra tea to help me get through it. My boss’s kettle had some sketchy looking deposits in the bottom, so I used the Keurig instead. Apparently my travel cup, which is my smallest cup, is much larger than the biggest water option on the machine. Maybe I’m drinking too much…but it’s not caffeinated, so we’re okay!
Anyway, I love a fruity green rooibos blend, so I threw this one in my cart on my last order. Hmm. The first taste is sweet and fruity, but that’s followed by a tingly clove flavor, which I didn’t enjoy so much. This honestly tastes kind of strange, and the clove scent is very strong. Not bad, but I’d definitely choose a different fruity green rooibos. On the website, they mention a recipe for using this tea in cookies, and I may try that with the rest of this. I’ve had great success making earl grey ice cream in the past, and I’ve been looking for excuses for making other tea desserts!
A friend gave me a bunch of teabags since he knows I like to make big pitchers with them. This is the first one I made. Probably put too much sugar in, but it’s really nice! I notice this kind gets less bitter than other mint teas I’ve had. I like the other things the mint is blended with. I think that makes this tea fun.
This one is also from Mastress Alita. Boy, I was so excited to try this one that I drank most of it when it was too hot to really be able to taste the complexities. Now that it’s cooled a bit and I’m concentrating on the flavors, I can say that the yam flavor is clear, a bit savory, and so fun. I added some whipped cream on top, and that just makes it perfect. It smells and tastes like sweet potato pie! I haven’t tried candied yams before, but I imagine they’re pretty similar? Anyway, I rarely drink a cup of tea as quickly as I’ve finished off this one, so that’s definitely a compliment to this tea.
This sample is also thanks to Mastress Alita. I didn’t remember if I’d eaten treacle before, but once I tasted this tea, I realized that I must have because this flavor is very familiar! This tea is so sweet, and it has a cakey flavor as well. I need to remember to drink green tea while it’s still warm though, because with this and many other green teas, as they sit there, the flavor seems to get a bit strange. Maybe that’s just me. But anyway, when I was drinking the first half of this warm a few hours ago, it was quite nice. I don’t enjoy treacle enough that I would seek out more treacle teas, but it was fun for sure.
So I’ve looked it up, and apparently golden syrup also counts as treacle. And “black treacle” is the same as molasses. The more you know!
Aha! I’d say this one is more like golden syrup than molasses. So I guess we’ve all had treacle before!
I’ve actually never had golden syrup, has far as I know… only caramel, which is what this tasted like to me, so that’s probably the closest thing my palate could identify to form an association. It certainly tasted more like caramel than honey to me. And I know I’ve never had the actual dessert where golden syrup is soaked in a sponge cake. I really love this tea, though… I was sad it lost the tea elections!
Thanks to Mastress Alita for this wonderful sample. Wow, this tastes really good. It’s not just a maple tea, as the toasted flavor also comes through really clearly. I would never have known that this is green tea. I steeped it for a long time at a temperature close to boiling, and it’s not the slightest bit bitter. The flavor really lingers in your mouth. I’m so glad I have enough to make a few giant mugs of this. I don’t eat actual maple syrup much, but maple tea is so so good.
Houjicha is roasted Japanese green tea, which gives it that brown color and woody, toasted, roasted nuts flavor. It is interested how roasting the leaves changes the flavor profile so much, but it is a personal favorite. And yes, it is very hardy as well, it just doesn’t get as astringent as plain green tea needing the cooler water and shorter steeps. The roasting also removes most of the caffeine, making it more suitable for evening sipping, too.
(reposted this to the correct page) I really dislike walnut in foods, but for some reason, I love walnut-flavored teas. The flavor is so sweet and nutty. It goes really well with the green tea and the second brew is tasty as well. I got this as a sample in my summer order, and I am definitely impressed. There was enough in the bag to make a bigger cup than usual, and there was a huge walnut in there too.
This tea was advertised as pear, but to me, it definitely tastes like banana. It required sugar in order to be sweet enough, and I like it… it’s just not what I was expecting. Additionally, I’d say it tastes more like banana flavoring than fresh banana. I’ll totally drink more of this.

I would definitely order more of this…but I already made a Davids Black Friday order! I wasn’t supposed to order any more tea this year, but their sale was pretty good, and I ordered under a pound, so I wasn’t too too bad. Also sorry that this review isn’t on the official page for this tea. It redirects me to the Steepster home page when I click to review, so I’m leaving the review here!
When a tea page is stuck in the “Mobile” view you just have to hit the “Edit tea info” button like you are going to change info in the entry, then hit “Save” again (you don’t have to actually change anything on the entry). That will refresh the cache on it and force it out of the Mobile view that always redirects to the main page whenever you try to click “Review this tea”, “Save to Cupboard” or “Save to Wishlist.”
I love this tea!
Me too! Lavender blends are so fun.
