1184 Tasting Notes
I finally got a tin of this! It took me a very long time to figure out which Teavivre oolong to get a tin of but I finally settled on this one in the Black Friday sale. Next order, I think I will have to order a whole bunch of samples and figure out which oolong it is that I want to permanently stock. Which is everyone’s favourite Teavivre oolong?
This tea smells lovely dry with rolled green leaves. It smells very nutty and roasted. I used 1.5tsp for my glass mug and infuser. When brewed, the leaves (of course) open up and are a little less green. The flavour is still quite vegetal but has a sweet overall roasted flavour. The mouthfeel is slightly creamy.
Preparation
I finally got my tin of this tea! I don’t know why it took me so long to just order it already!
I really enjoy this tea as a cold brew. It is a little bit tart, but the blueberry/currant taste is so refreshing.
Unfortunately, I under leafed and only used a tblsp for my Bodum cup. Note to self: be generous on the scoop!
I still really enjoy this tea, especially as a latte. I was still feeling festive yesterday and did a little shopping. I didn’t really buy too much as I didn’t find the deals super spectacular. The crowds were a little crazy in some places. I guess people were lined up outside some stores at 6 am? It was wayyy too cold…crazy people.
Preparation
I got the “tea of the month” sampler for Christmas. Suprise—- I haven’t tried 8/12 of these teas! I wanted to try this one first since it seemed Christmasy.
I used the whole sample tin. This was a fairly good spiced apple cider. The cinnamon and star anise are the most prominent notes, followed by the apple. This tea is heavy though so I can see that it would be expensive to stock. I quite enjoy apple teas.
I don’t like this one quite as much as the one they had last year (or maybe 2 years ago?) called sweet apple cider (I think).
I am really enjoying my Whispering Pines order! All the teas seem to be very high quality!
This kind of tea is quickly becoming my favourite…malty chocolate.
This tea is malty chocolate with some caramel in the forefront. As the tea cools, the fruity notes take over, primarily plum and raisin (it says current in the description though). I have no idea what longan fruit is, so I can’t pick that note up. I also don’t really get the salted caramel but that’s ok, it’s probably just my palate. It isn’t that refined.
Resteeped at 5&8 minutes.
Flavors: Caramel, Cocoa, Malt, Plum, Raisins
Preparation
I finally received this tea after being sent the donut black tea instead. Thanks again Anne for the great customer service!
I still really enjoy this tea, even though it is never as creamy as I was hoping. I always cold brew it. It is pineapple and coconut, so refreshing when cold. Hey, I can imagine that I am sitting on a beach somewhere tropical when I’m drinking it right!
I get a tiny bit of French toast notes but it is heavily covered up by cardamom. I looked in my infuser and there are lots of pods in there…and not much left in my bag…oops. I guess I didn’t shake the bag enough and the pods must have all been at the top. I didn’t get much cinnamon either.
I will have to try this again sometime when I am awake enough in the morning to shake the bag!
Flavors: Cardamom
Preparation
I was surprised by how dark this brewed up. The smell is amazing. Cinnamon is the strongest smell and taste. The berries add a nice note to this, slightly tart/sweet. I think it is the basil that it giving it a minty feel. This tea feels like sitting by a cozy fireplace after a walk in the woods.
I resteeped at 7 and 10 minutes.
Note to self: don’t use the glass infuser and mug because the small bits get stuck and are hard to get out!
Preparation
Ooh this is good. It is creamy and tropical with notes of pineapple and mango. The vegetal notes are a little more prominent than I was expecting, but that is ok. I find be that I got quite a bit of the plumeria notes as well, although I likely would not have picked out the particular flower, but it was provided in the description! I guess I cheated a bit. I resteeped per recommendations at 2,3,5 minutes. It holds up very well through the resteeps.
My favorite Teavivre oolong is the Iron Goddess but that was an older harvest. I think the new one is different. But so many of Teavivre’s oolongs are so good.
Ooh yes tea-sipper that was a good one! I haven’t tried the recent harvests
