ingenuiTEA from Adagio Teas

ingenuiTEA

The most convenient teapot you will find anywhere – we guarantee it. When tea is ready, simply place it atop your cup. This will cause a valve at the bottom to release: crystal-clear tea flows down, while the mesh filter retains all the leaves with one of the best infusers on the market. Super easy to clean and dishwasher safe. And it’s microwaveable – perfect for the office or the road. You will wonder how you got along without one. Made in Taiwan with food-grade polycarbonate that is certified by SGS to be BPA-free.

I use this multiple times a day every day at work. I don’t know how I ever lived without it.

Great idea in theory!

It brews tea well— My only objection is that it’s hard to clean. Some tea gets trapped in the chamber between the pot and the strainer part on the bottom, and the only way to flush it out is to push down on the bottom while running the faucet into the pot. Leaves cling to the plastic inside of the pot in the bottom crevices near the strainer and are not easy to get out, either.

The lid also pops off easily but then doesn’t snap back on nicely.

All in all, it’s good for when you’re in a rush, but not so good once you get around to cleaning it out.

Mostly I like this steeper, I keep it at work to brew loose leaf there.

I find I have issues with getting it to drain fully with certain teas, though, like my silk oolong. The leaves just expand so much, they tend to cover the little nub of the filter that has holes in the top to release the suction, so some liquid remains until I use something (typically my finger) to nudge them aside and allow the rest of the liquid to drain.

After that, too, even if I let it sit on top of the cup for a while, when I remove it, it tends to drip on the table. I’ve solved this by leaving it on top of an extra mousepad I have, but it’s a little annoying.

You also have to be careful to set it down on an entirely clear space. Once or twice I’ve accidentally gotten the edge over the keyboard or a low cable and didn’t notice for a minute that it was actually forcing the steeper to drain.

Overall though, it’s pretty convenient, and I like that it’ll fit over any mug or tumbler I have.

This was the item that got my tea fancy started. I always liked tea, but this allowed me to brew loose leaf with total ease. The small size of the ingenuiTEA is perfect for one big mug of tea or two small ones. It’s mainly easy to rinse out the leaves after and the filter comes out for more thorough washing. The trigger mechanism at the bottom fits on almost all of my mugs, and can be accessed by hand if it doesn’t fit. I’ve had it for a few years now, with no problems or breakage. I don’t know what I’d do without it! If you want to explore loose leaf teas but are a little unsure, get one of these guys and get brewing, you won’t regret it!

I love my Ingenuiteas (the 32 ouncers!) so so much. I bought one for myself, then later bought another so I could serve more than one kind of tea at a time since my sister and wife also like tea and we don’t always want the same one. Plus, 32 ounces is enough for 2, not 3. :)

I can’t rate this highly enough. These are the BEST infuser/steepers and they are fantastically designed. The first model did have an issue with the filter floating up and losing the tea into the mix, but the redesigned model is amazing and does EVERYTHING I want it to.

People often complain that the filter is not removable. It IS removable! It’s just STUCK TIGHT because they fixed the floating problem from the first model. Pull harder. It comes out. And every single piece of this thing comes apart for cleaning. You can remove the presser foot on bottom, the gasket ring that holds it in place, the filter, and even the lid! It’s top-rack dishwasher save, microwavable, BPA-free and kid-proof durable. I’ve dropped and knocked mine off so many times and it has no cracks, no issues, no broken lid hinge— not a thing wrong with it after a year and a half of constant use! It survived a freaking straight-line wind that was as powerful as a tornado! It survived being flung across the kitchen in that storm that broke my house. IT’S STURDY :)

Plus, I love watching my tea turn colors. I can see when it’s dark enough (for some brews this is important) and I just enjoy laying it atop a mug and letting it piddle out its contents into my cup. It makes me happy.

Go buy one. Buy two. Get the Iced Ingenuitea because it’s bigger. Love it. :) I know you will!

(Fyi Adagio has not remotely paid me in any way to love on this product. I just love this product so much. If you have never ordered from Adagio tho, I can totally send you a $5 giftcard for free to get you started. This would make a great first purchase. I would get frequent cup points if you took me up on that. Full disclosure complete. :) )

I’ve always been told not to look a gift horse in the mouth but. . .here I go.

I received this neat little gadget as an unbirthday present. It steeps my tea just fine, and the fine mesh keeps even the rooibos needles out of my cup. What I don’t like about it is the cleanup. I don’t like disassembling it and trying to scrub the stains out of all the crevices on the bottom.

A must for any loose leaf tea lover. It’s so easy to use and most importantly, to clean! Just fill it back up with water, a quick stir and Voilà. It’s increased my tea consumption by 5 times, with it’s ease of use.

Just bought this little gem and used it right away. I’m new to loose leaf teas and was having a tricky time matching the correct infuser/strainer to the tea I was using. This seemed to work perfecting for my finely ground rooibos tea… satisfied so far!

This has more than enough room for tea leaves to fully expand and holds enough water to brew an extra large cuppa (but not enough for two cups). It doesn’t seem to absorb scents/flavors of past brews hardly at all and if it does a quick rinse or light scrub will dissipate anything that lingers. (Even my Lapsangs come off easy). Mesh is fine enough for even the smallest roobios needles.
My only gripe is that cleaning it can be a pain in the butt for those of us without dishwashers. There is one small nook in particular that requires me to take a Q tip to clean out. As a result I don’t really like brewing things like David’s or Teavanna tea in it because I worry about residue getting in there and possibly molding. But if you DO have a dishwasher this shouldn’t be an issue as it is safe to pop right in there and sanitize the easy way.

I use this everyday, several times a day and I can’t imagine loose leaf without it. The strainer is like an armored wall of defense against stray bits of tea, even for rooibos. The only thing that bother me is that sometimes not all of the liquid drains out on its own. Some of the liquid will be left underneath the strainer and I will have to manually push with my finger until everything drains out.
