Had this at a spa while on vacation. It was a light EG. I would not have placed oolong or Darjeeling in the mix by taste alone but that may simply be me. Someone with a more nuanced palate might well pick them out. All in all, a pleasant cup of lightly bergamotted (is so a word) light bodied tea. Might be worth investigating price compared to say a Harney sachet. As TeaTiff recommended, I may stick with taking sachets along on trips from now on since I never seem to have time to use my good stuff when I take it.

Bergamotted is so a word I would use! And I will!

I find this tea has a flat taste to it. No richness, no great after taste/smell. The Adagio EG with lavender is much better, as is White Lion (which might just be adagio repackaged, I’m not sure).

A well meaning coworker got me a cute little 6 sachet tin of this for Christmas. I am SO picky about earl grey and lavender usually tastes soapy to me :(

It wasn’t as bad as I expected, but definitely not something I enjoy.

The tin is really kind of cool though, it reminds me of one of those old cigarette cases. If I can get the scent out of it I may reuse the tin for on the go tea stash, since it would fit nicely in my purse.

Cameron B.

Ick lavender! At least the tin is cute, though. :)

Stephanie

Yeah…I feel bad for any random person in my life who thinks they can buy me some tea…to the layperson I’m a terrible tea snob :P

Terri HarpLady

Me too. Not a fan of the earl, and PLEASE don’t put bubble bath, I mean lavender, in my tea!

Terri HarpLady

Although it’s very nice in a bath :)

TeaBrat

I usually hate the tea that other people buy me… :)

Fjellrev

Aww, they tried.

Kaylee

I have some of those tins and they’re great for travel. Just the right size for a sample of loose leaf and some empty teabags. I’ve never had one pop open in my bag, but just in case I keep the leaf in a teeny tiny ziploc.

carol who

Try filling the tin with water and baking soda. Close. Shake. Soak. Rinse. Should get rid of the lavender smell.

Stephanie

Thanks for the tips Carol Who and Kaylee :)

And yes, lavender is great in the bath…just don’t want to drink it. Glad I am not the only picky one ;)

Jennkay

Yeah, when people ask me what kind of tea I like to try to buy me some as a gift, I usually thwart them by saying that I have way too much already (which is actually true, too).

This was fun to try! I haven’t had lavender in a tea before. I think the Darjeeling in it lightened it up a bit, while the lavender made it smell good and feel more complex. I definitely wouldn’t mind drinking this often. Now, if only I could find an Earl Grey that had a naturally caffeine-free base that still fulfilled all of my Grey hopes and dreams so that I could drink it at night, too……

I have an Earl Grey with a white tea base coming this week…perhaps that will at least be going in the right direction?

It is another one of those days where I lack really awesome stories to share with you, my day consisted of storms keeping me awake at night, oral surgery, and subsequent pain killer loopiness, and a nice nap in the middle. Accuweather is promising another stormy night tonight, but as long as there are no tornadoes I don’t mind the storms, they are my favorite kind of weather after all! I suppose the thing that really kept me awake last night was Espeon trying to burrow into my chest because the thunder was scary to her, poor kitty.

Today’s tea has an interesting backstory, at least for me, many years ago before I was a tea blogger, I was taken on a glorious vacation. One of the spots Ben took me to was a restaurant in Washington DC, before we went to the Smithsonian, I had a wonderful meal and this tea! Earl Grey Lavender by Revolution Tea, is a blend of Ceylon, Oolong, Darjeeling, Bergamot Oil, and Lavender blossoms. The aroma is loaded with delicate lavender and sharp bergamot, with compliments of mellow muscatel and a hint of malt. This is not like most Earl’s, it is more smooth and gentle. This is the tea that I always thought would suit the name Lady Grey.

Once brewed the tea becomes mildly sweet and a touch creamy with delicate lavender and mild bergamot. It has a very mellow aroma for an Earl Grey, which is great if you find the aroma of bergamot overpowering at times.

The taste is at first incredibly smooth and fades to a crisp briskness. The base tea blend mixes muscatel and malt flavors with a very slight astringency. The bergamot and lavender are both mild, accents that do not overpower, quite balanced. I really loved this tea the first time I tried it and I still enjoy it immensely. It is one of those teas that is perfect for an afternoon teatime or morning cup, especially if you want an Earl Grey with a gentle touch.

This is the first lavender earl grey I’ve tried, and I’m impressed. Dry, it smells very strongly of lavender. The brewed tea doesn’t taste as strongly as it smells, but the bergamot is much milder than in some earl greys. That makes it a nice, smooth tea. The aftertaste is my favorite part of it, though—strong, sweet lavender. Delicious!

I steeped it on the low end of the recommended time, because I’m not a big fan of Earl Grey (full disclosure), but I wanted something different for breakfast.
I popped in some milk and sugar, because — again — not an Earl Grey fan, and was disappointed when, instead of lavender and bergamot, I got a dominant smell of burning paint.
What? Burning paint?? This is going to be so yummy….
Um…
The taste is pretty inoffensive. I get a little bit more of that flowery herbiness on my tongue than in my nose, which is unusual.
Just tastes like airplane tea to me.
Oh well.

Full-bodied, yet wonderfully light, the award-winning black tea blends traditional earl grey with fragrant blue lavender to make a wonderful taste. This tea is great at late at night hour.

A good mild tea, but doesn’t have a very strong Earl Grey flavor.

A pretty lavender aroma balanced by a tasty blend of teas. I’m admittedly fond of both earl greys and floral teas, so I expected to like this one. Well, I do! I would recommend it to anyone who likes their earl grey without milk, as the sweetness of the lavender rounds out the bergamot. On occasion when I do want a little milk in it, I find it is best complimented by almond milk – something magical happens between the almond and the lavender… Overall this is a happy, comforting tea that I find myself craving in the colder months of the year.
