Matcha does not belong in a tea bag. This is most likely a culinary matcha. I wonder if there’s much in there as I don’t really see it. There’s some dust on the bottom but after touching it I don’t believe it is matcha as the texture is too tough. Either that or this is a very poorly ground matcha. And the coloring is fiercely terrible. The liquor color is more akin to black tea. When it first hits your palate it’s not too bad. Grassy notes and wet leaves and some slight vegetal notes. But it changes so quickly. The astringency kicks in like a bucking bronco and before you know it your face first in the wall with a leftover palate of bitterness. The wet leaf has stems and leaves and some of them are so very tiny…

Pukka Days of Christmas#5

I join other reviewers here as the name is very misleading, for a green tea with only 2% of matcha included. Furthermore, I was looking if there were other boiling (time, temperature) instructions because of it, and was quite surprised to see no specific indications concerning steeping temperature. I decided to use 70ºC water anyway.
Although the green tea is quite alright, I honestly don´t see the point of adding matcha here (apart from the marketing tool, clearly)…OK to try, but that´s all.

It’s quite outrageous to call the product “Matcha Green” if it contains 98% of mixed green teas and only 2% of matcha powder.
After steeping it smells of decent green tea with nice floral and grass accents, but the overall aroma is not strong.
And so is the taste. Not bad, actually, but way too watery. And if I hadn’t known there’s matcha in here, I wouldn’t have guessed.
In short, it’s a passable green tea, falsely claiming to be something more. That’s why my rating gets a negative modifier.

Name is a bit misleading, only like 2% Matcha powder here, though the price obviously reflects that. Decent green tea but is a little bitter, almost grassy as other users have described. Had it late (11pm) but still calmed me down. Probably would be good with milk.

Grabbed this as an alternative to ridiculously priced matcha – which is all I find in the UK at the moment. Darn traveling. ;)

I miss my matcha, and wish Red Leaf’s shipping wasn’t such a high threshold to come over here. Plus, since I’m on the road so much, it’s tricky to get anything without my being “gone” already, on to the next place. Suggestions for solutions, welcome!

Anyway, this tea. Suggested steep time of 3 minutes is perfect, as i’m finding this gets ridiculously bitter, fast. Did it as a keto / butter tea, didn’t notice anything of substance. Did it today just as a regular tea, and it was tight, astringent and bitter. Got some granularity from the matcha, which made me happy as I was worried there wasn’t any in here. Having said that, zero matcha buzz, which I consistently get with straight matcha. So…

Would I buy this again? Maybe, if I needed matcha in small doses for some reason, and couldn’t get what I wanted at a decent price.
