Just got home from watching The Muppets Most Wanted. Many of the reviews of it are like the reviews for this tea. Are either the movie or the tea going to change your life forever? Of course not but I left feeling good. I laughed out loud more than a few times. As we left I overheard kids telling their moms they loved the movie. What better review do you need? This tea is pleasant and fruity. It makes me smile. Nough said.

For those of us who grew up on the Muppets, they are almost like old friends. Anything with muppets in it makes me smile, from oscar the grouch to the mighty favog (SNL, first season).

K S

Yes to Oscar. I had to Google the mighty favog. I had forgotten all about that.

One of the complaints of the new movie is it lacks character development, but they are the Muppets. We do know them like old friends. Character development is more for new acquaintances. They sang, they danced, told bad jokes, Beaker exploded, you know Muppet stuff.

Now go away (in my best Oscar voice)

Sami Kelsh

I still want to be a Muppet when I grow up.

K S

Sami Kelsh, I was a Muppet for a while. Well not a real Muppet but I did do rod arm puppets on a puppet team at church. Not meaning to brag but I was really good at it. I had my first breathing attack while doing a performance at a teaching conference. I had to give it up shortly after but at least for a while I was a Muppet.

gmathis

I miss my Kermie…

Favorite Muppet ever is Muppet Treasure Island. Matter of fact, on bad days when Mom was so ill and when current stuff overwhelms me, my just-keep-going theme song was/is “There’s got to be something better…something better…there’s got to be something better than this!” (Glad there is.)

Maaan I wish I knew what was going on with my mouth. Mostly when I drink something I get this odd, juicy-sweet-tart taste in my mouth. Even my mouthwash! It’s not unpleasant, but it is misleading when it comes to teas. It actually makes some less flavorful teas taste better, but then I don’t know if I will like them actually after this sensation goes away. I wanted to try some of my Verdant reserve club teas this weekend, but I don’t want to try limited teas with a somewhat warped sense of taste.

So I figured I guess I will drink some fruity teas that will be enhanced by this. I got sachets of this in my Happy Bag at the new year but haven’t tried it yet. It smells highly tropical-fruity in a somewhat generic way. I guess I can pick out pineapple and mango. The liquor is super bright yellow green. It looks like I like this one more than most people… Maybe it’s just the odd aftertaste giving it a fruity sweetness that is quite pleasant. It’s not something I would restock on but I would be that I’ll enjoy it iced and it won’t be too hard to drink through.

F and I used up all our pilfered wine in the spinach risotto, so we drank the pitcher of this I’d been cold-steeping.

I can’t even tell you how much I love Lupicia’s greens iced in summer. They’re just so good. Elegant, delicate, highly drinkable.

Now I just have to figure out what to put in the fridge next. I think I’ll try the Melon White and blame TeaFairy.

Haha! Fairies can’t be blamed, it’s a fairy fact!
But I think Melon White is worth being blamed for.

I think i’m going to need to try this one as a cold brew. It wasn’t bad as a hot brew but I’m not sure that i was in the mood for a citrusy sort of green tea. I have a few more tea bags to try out so i’m hoping it will grow on me. It’s better than the other tea i had this afternoon but eesh…

Tea #3 of the day from the Lupicia grab bag, I’d better stop with caffeine for a while before my head explodes.

I’ve never had this particular green before. Reading over the rest of the reviews I can’t understand some of the really bad ratings because it seems ok to me. My one complaint is the bancha base seems like it got a little on the bitter side (and I did not use boiling water). Might need to try this as a cold brew to see what happens, or I might try giving this a little less steeping time. I am getting pineapple and mango but the flavors are kind of light. Compared to some of Lupicia’s artifical tasting gummy bear teas I don’t really see this as a problem…

I liked this okay but probably wouldn’t buy anymore. Will let everyone know how the cold steep experiment goes. :)

Had a rather caffeinated black this morning so some green bancha should be a nice mild way to start the afternoon. I got tea bags of theses in the happy bag. First whiff was very scary for me. I detected pineapple and then a strong scent of the dreaded cherry cough syrup. Eek! Well, let’s be brave and try it anyhow…

The liquor is a bright green which leads me to suspect matcha. The taste confirms it. I get a bit of herbal quality from the flowers and a nice mix of fruits. Pineapple and papaya? Not sure. Tea base is a bit grassy. Bancha is not really my favorite but the flavor is pleasant if vague. no cough syrup taste! :)

Also, I’m sure the tea is pretty to look at but it’s hard to appreciate through the bag. :(

Overall, I don’t like this too much but it’s pleasant enough that I wouldn’t feel bad trying to foist this on someone else. Maybe it’s just not my thing.

Kittenna

Oh crap. I can’t stand cherry cough syrup, smell or taste. Hopefully I can’t taste it either.

Mercuryhime

I noticed a slight after taste when I finished the cup. I hope you find it undetectedable though! Also, I don’t like cherry flavored anything because it reminds me of cough syrup. Cherry is forever ruined. :( except blowpops and Swedish fish. : D

Kashyap

one of the many reasons I can’t abide flavored teas….the lack of accountability with the flavorings, natural or synthetic, and the belief that poor tea can be danced up with exotic names and equally pretend flavorings

Oooph this is like drinking melting tropical fruit gummy bears mixed with a slightly vegetal green. And strangely not in a bad way. It’s very sweet and very fruity. I can pick out mango, pineapple and peach for certain, but it’s almost like there’s more fruity flavors in there that I can’t identify. Regardless, it grew on me throughout the cup.

I can only imagine how good this would have been cold steeped with frozen strawberries for ice cubes on a hot summer day. But of course, I’m drinking it hot and it’s below freezing out.

Another Lupicia sample sachet pyramid that accompanied me to work. This time, I’m going to use half the water I used with the previous Lupicia-sachet-at-work attempts which came out weak. Yet again I forgot to bring a thermometer to work (I forgot my pedometer today as well) but the water out of the coffee maker spigot is seeming cooler today, so seems like a good time to try a green.

Smells very, very fruity in the sachet. Like the Lush flavor of 5 gum. I get pineapple/mango/citrus and a green scent from the tea underneath. The picture on this page has gorgeous colors, which I can’t see and I can’t blame their failure to appear on the pyramid. I don’t think I’d miss those colors through a slightly misty looking mesh bag. Either it was the luck of the draw in terms of what got deposited into my sachet, or they’ve changed the blend since that picture was taken.

I can already smell the difference less water makes in the aroma of the tea. It’s more concentrated than I got with previous Lupicia sachets. The green, chlorophylly, somewhat vegetal aroma of the tea dominates and the fruit fragrances are much more dilute after steeping.

The tea is sweet! Not bitter at all. Quite tasty. The fruit flavors taste stronger than they smelled, though they don’t obliterate the taste of the tea. I’d say this is a successful fruit flavored green tea, and I don’t say that lightly having tried quite a few which I thought didn’t succeed, some more spectacularly than others.

Still, I’m not wild about flavored green teas unless the flavoring is jasmine, or unless it’s a very well done mint. This is in the category of something I’d drink, happily, if it was given to me, but something I wouldn’t be likely to choose to buy.

Do you put a lid on your tea cup when you steep? It actually results in a deeper flavor no matter what you are steeping. I actually did a side by side with Lupicia’s Paradise Green before and the covered one was better.

__Morgana__

Not at work, as I don’t have lids for my cups at work and my preparation methods at work are in general more haphazard because of distractions, etc. At home if I steep in a cup I use a Finum filter, which has a lid, and I generally put the lid over the filter.

Thanks for the sample Will Work for Tea!!
I’m not sure about this one. It was ok for a fruity green tea. From other reviews I gather that it’s a love it or hate it deal. I don’t hate it but the fruity part was a little too indistinct to suss out any details so I’m not quite sure how to describe it.
The third steep was best though, when more of the “green” tea features came out. (like spring mix salad!)
Anyhow, I’m glad to have tried it!! maybe another try will illuminate some hidden secrets :)

Freebie teabag from Lupicia. This is fruity. Like FruitStripes gum (what I remember of it) fruity. I can’t really pull out any individual fruit tastes – it’s just one big flavor of sweet, almost candy-like fruity. It doesn’t taste synthetic or anything, so points for that. But there’s an astringency from the green tea base that I just don’t love. Maybe that dryness would work better with the sweet fruit flavor if chilled, come across as a crisp & refreshing type taste, but hot it just doesn’t mesh great for me.

Ultimately, this is drinkable and not horrid but it’s not something I’d pick up for myself. If they had this flavor with a black tea base… now that I’d probably give a try.

CHAroma

Lupicia does make a black tea called Paradise. It doesn’t have exactly the same ingredients as this one, but it’s supposed to be pretty tropical. I haven’t tried it personally but wanted to let you know about it.

Auggy

Cool, I might have to give it a shot in a black. Thanks for the info!
