Honey Pear

Hey all! I am very excited today and have to share this with everyone :) . I just found out I have now passed both parts of the USMLE step 2 for med school.
On to the tea- Very nice smell of pear in the dry leaf. Made my tongue get ready for a nice dessert. Brewed, it smells a little too sweet. I like the pear underneath the scent of sugar though.
It doesn’t taste as strong as it smells. I can still taste black tea and there is pear and honey on top. It’s not a dessert taste as I expected but a light spring weather afternoon tea to me.
The tea isn’t bad. I’d pick it over some and would enjoy it in another sample pack but I couldn’t drink this enough to buy it.

Thanks for sending me some tea equals bliss. First note that the first time I tried this I accidently steeped this too long, and it was no good at all,but I tried again last night and I’t was alot better This smells mostly like black tea and honey. I steeped this a short time and the taste is like a dark heavier honey with the black tea and abit of pear. While i would have liked this honey to be sweet and lighter this was still good.

This hit me the wrong way. I wanted to try a sample so I dug through my sample box and picked this. The scent is very strong and sweet smelling. It induced an instant mini-headache. The taste is sweet on its own, but I still couldn’t get past the scent. I tried it with sugar, and it was alright. Meh

GM Sample 19/31
Smells very strongly of pears and sweetness. It’s almost like honey but not quite. Almost darker. Stepped this tea is very dark, darker than I would have expected. Tastewise a little disapointing. To me the black tea overpowers the pear and the tea isn’t sweet at all which is a little confusing cause it’s honey pear.

I kind of wished I didn’t dump my whole sample to make iced tea! This would of been amazing warm with some cream! Anyways, being iced, it’s naturally honey sweet and yummy. The dry leaf has such a big pungent honey smell. I didn’t get much pear, which is a shame. I bet this would be tasty brewed in pear juice. There’s a little pear in the background, though. And when I burped! :) I bet this tea would be awesome in sweet tea, too.

It didn’t rebrew again, it was pretty weak, but drinkable.

I’m basing this review more on what I expected than the actual taste. The taste itself is pretty standard. It’s black tea, with a subtle sweetness to it. Not too bitter, which I like.

However, where’s the actual honey pear? I guess it tastes pear-like, but that’s only because what it claimed to be. If you blindfolded me and had me guess what it was, I would have no idea. I was expecting something sweet (come on, it’s both honey and pears), but it was a little bland in that department.

Stuck some in the fridge for later; maybe it’ll be redeemed in the cold version.

Blech.

I was excited to try this tea out for some reason, even though I don’t really like black teas or the taste of honey. I do dig pears though, so I figured this tea would be good. When I opened up the package, the thick, pungent, musty smell of honey hit me like a ton of bricks. Almost medicinal.

Then I brewed it up and took a sip. Totally medicinal. The black tea base is too harsh, the honey is too thick, and…well, where’s the pear? Not there.

Dumped the rest. On to the next.

Golden Moon Sampler Tea #8:

A little story before I start. I was at the university book store trying (and failing) to buy my textbooks (they were out), when I noticed that one of the more prominent displays was a big table full of teapots and various kinds of Republic of Tea teas. Is tea in or something? Is it the trendy new hipster thing? Looks like it might be!

Anyway, I decided to check out the teapots, but they were BLAH – boring, mass-produced, and generally not anywhere NEAR Ivan’s league. Here’s hoping today’s trip to the thrift store gets me some results.

Before going OUT THERE (where the nasty evil sun is), I had to bolster myself with some nice sippable tea. I was kind of wary to try this because from the reviews it seems extremely polarizing – you either love it or you hate it, but I decided to take the plunge.

This tea smells exactly like it’s name, the two scents of honey and pear seem to be in a fight for dominance with now one, now the other achieving it. The actual tea came out more pear than anything else, which is good because I am not that huge of a fan of honey. Now the package says that this is a mixture of black tea and bee pollen, which I guess is where the floral undertaste I am getting comes in. The black tea is noticeably present, tempering the pear-ness, and the honey comes in at the end, mostly along with the floral taste.

All in all, the tea itself tastes quite nice, but it leaves a dry taste in my mouth that I don’t find particularly comfortable. I prefer not to need to go drink a glass of water after finishing my tea.

Second Golden Moon sample!

The leaves of this tea smell like pear and flowers. I didn’t really get a honey sense from it. In any case, the scent was so strong, I was a bit afraid of what it would taste like!

The tea itself tastes mostly like pear juice. The black tea gets hidden behind that flavor, though it does temper the juiciness, I’m sure. Still not really getting honey from this, but the pear really comes through. The flowers, which I thought were a bit strong-smelling in the dry leaves, are just a hint behind the pear. This is also a very sweet tea.

Overall, I’m not wowed by it. It tastes a bit too much like juice and not enough like tea for me. :\

I found a use for this tea. I found out my milk was spoiled this morning and I wanted pancakes, so I used the tea instead! It was great! I put in cinnamon and vanilla, and nothing tasted polleny! Yay for cooking with tea!
