Cookie Butter

Sipdown! I didn’t actually plan to finish this off today, but I had too much leaf for one cup and not enough for two so I made a large mug as an oat milk latte. The dry leaf smells of cinnamon and brown sugar. For some reason I also sensed something spicy, like clove, but there’s nothing like that in here. Brewed up, it tastes of cinnamon, brown sugar, and a bit of maple. It’s got an almost chewy creaminess that feeds into the cookie butter effect. I think that’s coming from the interplay of the oat milk and the coconut. Huge thanks to Cameron B. for sending me this! I wouldn’t have bought it myself but I’m really glad that I got to try it.

Inkling Advent Day 15. This smells so strongly of gingerbread! The flavor isn’t as strong as some other gingerbread teas I’ve had, but it’s still quite nice with some almond milk. I’d say the flavor is definitely more gingerbread than cookie butter (I had some yesterday, so the flavor is quite distinct in my mind). I taste a pleasant combo of spices, backed by the black tea, but not much of a baked element.

I like this tea, but wish it was a bit stronger. It’s a nice combination of flavours though – creamy caramel and cinnamon. Not quite like the cookie butter I’ve had previously, but I’ve only ever tried one variety.

Originally I was going to make a latte of a different tea but I wasn’t sure I would have enough leaf so I randomly grabbed another tea out of the drawer and it was this. I feel like cookie butter has been popular with bakers lately, at least the ones I follow on Instagram.

Anyways, I wanted something caramel-esque and this seemed close enough to what I was going for. As a latte this is very good because it has a sort of thickness in the flavour that you would get from a cookie butter. It’s also sweet but not quite fully caramel. I think it’s got a classic Deb flavour profile with the heavy maple chips and I think it could be flat if I don’t make it as a latte but as a latte it’s good.

This really does taste like cookie butter!

It has that lightly spiced buttery cookie thing going on, which can only be described as speculoos. It is missing the deeper molasses notes, but still so spot-on.

My only issue with it is it’s too light because of all of the additions. It barely tastes like black tea, so it’s a bit like a watered down cookie butter. Obviously I could use more leaf, but I’m afraid it would become too sweet with the sugar included.

So I haven’t decided yet whether this will be a repurchase…

This really does taste like melted cookie butter in a cup! :) It has a crackly, toasty, spiced cookie butter vibe! I love this as a latte! :)
