Tea of the Week for November 23, 2015!

To create this tea, I used a Thyolo OP1 Black Tea from the Satemwa Estate in Malawi. This rich, delicious tea has a delightful autumnal flavor on it’s own – reminiscent of sweet potato. I thought that the natural profile of this tea would meld beautifully with the flavors of pumpkin and sweet butter cookie. It’s sweet, it’s gently spiced, it’s pumpkin-y and it’s so good. I don’t think this tea is going to be sticking around very long – so you should grab some while it’s here!

ingredients: black Tea, cinnamon, nutmeg, calendula petals & all-natural flavors.

The remaining bit at the bottom of the pouch was slightly over the amount of leaf I would ordinarily use. I steeped it up anyway. Expecting an overly strong brew, I added a bit of cream. It’s ok, but just ok. Time to say goodbye.

edit—Once I began adding more straight tea from my tea thermos to my cup, diluting the cream, the flavour perked up considerably. Very much cookie butter with a hint of pumpkin spice. I am happy to see the flavour revived as I bid this tea farewell.

And it’s a sip down!

Yay for sipping down just ok tea

The straight tea was a bit better than just ok, but time to make room for other things.

So is this meant to taste like pumpkin butter and cookies or pumpkin and butter cookies? It’s spiced which is just what I wanted this morning. I made it extra strong after reading a couple other notes and I’m glad that I did.

This one time, I tried to give up soda and booze. It was a disaster.

“After limping through a day of surprise projects, lunch-salads, and ZERO COOKIES, I needed a cup of tea to survive a play.”

Find out how the tea was and whether I enjoyed the play here:

I think I oversteeped this. It had a good combination of spices, but was astringent and I didn’t particularly enjoy drinking it straight. Mostly tasted like a pumpkin spice tea, not a butter cookie, but I think it has the strength to take additions well, so I’ll try some in the future, hopefully.

This is a lovely autumn tea. With a few drops of stevia this reads spiced sugar cookie topped with pumpkin butter to my tastebuds. The pumpkin flavor really lingers for me (which is great), and I don’t find the spice to be too overwhelming. This would make a great latte. I’m excited to find a company that is doing pumpkin teas that aren’t super heavy on the spice.
