Oh man kittenna you were so right. DO. NOT. LIKE.

Dry aroma? Wonderful pear. Steeped tea? Floral mess of grossness. Yeah, I am not having this. Someday we’ll find a good pear tea, but until then this is for sure not it. Into the swap box it goes.

Oh wow, pear! Dunno why I’m surprised, its right in the description haha.
I wonder if time has mellowed out the floral part. I’m not one to love an intensely floral tea (unless it’s certain types of rose) and I usually side with other reviews on that front.
But honestly, it isn’t bad at all. Hot, it’s got a pear perfume sort of air about it, but a pleasant one, not overbearing or noxious. As it cools, I get more of a true pear aroma/flavour and I’m quite enjoying it! made in my travel mug, which is always a wild card so who knows how this would fare in a regular drinking mug.
Actually, have you ever had pear juice? I can’t recall what brand but I used to buy it every once in awhile and this tastes just like that! with a hint of floral on the side. A teaspoon of sugar really brings that out. Me likey.
Yay for good tea runs! this is my third or fourth hit with a new tea in a row :D

First cup of the day. I enjoy pear-flavored things, so I’m pretty excited to try this tea. The dry leaves smell like fresh, juicy pear. The tea has a sweet pear aroma. There are pretty gold sparkles all throughout my tea cup – I LOVE sparkles! The flavor is lightly malty with a sweet finish. The pear comes out in the aftertaste, but it’s very light, and more of a candy pear flavor. It’s not a bad tea, it seems like it’s just missing a little something else. I added some sweetener, which didn’t do whole lot other than bring out more of the fakish candy flavor. Then I added some milk and It actually is a whole lot better! The pear note is still very light, but the milk smoothed everything nicely into a somewhat creamy cup with a nice hint of pear. I am actually enjoying this cup now, a lot! I can’t taste much of the black tea, but it’s just all around a pleasant cup. It would be perfect for a summer afternoon, since it’s so light. I don’t know if I will purchase more of this one, but I am definitely looking forward to finishing off my sample pack.

I feel like today will be a very lazy day. All of our foster kittens are now out of their quarantine in the bathroom, and are running crazy all over the house. They kept climbing up on my bed all hours of the night, wanting to play. They are so cute, though, how can you resist a little play session at 3 am?! We took in all four of them thinking that we would find another foster for 2 of them, but now we are in love with all four. I can’t imagine how hard it will be to see them go. Luckily they will probably be with us for awhile longer, while our house is destroyed in the meantime! :)

-Dry blend has medium black tea leaves with white petals, pieces of dried pear and small gold sprinkles.
-Dry leaves smell like fresh juicy pear. Tea liquor aroma is of sweet pear.
-Tea liquor is a clear medium golden brown color with shimmery gold sparkles.
-Light malty flavor with a sweet finish. Light candy pear aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. A lightly flavored and smooth cup with a hint of pear.

For some reason (low pressure outside?) my kettle has been weird today and hasn’t been steaming up at all until the water is just short of boiling. So this was brewed at roughly 200F even though I’d normally wait for the full boil.

This smells wonderful in the bag. It’s pure pear. As it brews the smell is again diluted by the DT black base. It’s actually kind of a weird combination, and I’m wondering if this shouldn’t be based on a different kind of tea. Despite that, the taste is good. I say good and not great because after tasting it I do think it should be a different base. Maybe green or white? The pear flavoring is spot-on, though. I like this but I’m on the fence about whether I’d actually restock it.

ETA: This is my 200th tasting note! My 100th was ten days ago. I have a problem.

So I feel a bit hypocritical drinking this, as it has gold glitter sprinkles in it, the sort of thing I usually giggle dismissively about when it’s in something from David’s, say, but I’m sorta enjoying the Jem and the Holograms-ness of it this morning (maybe because I’m still so sleepy—didn’t go to bed ‘til super late and my head’s still fuzzy from the beer I had last night watching the Chuck season 3 opener on DVD—my tolerance is just terrible).

This smells lovely, like, well, sweet pear. There’s that element of canned pear as opposed to fresh, but it works somehow. I might prefer Joy’s Teaspoon’s Spicy Pear a smidge more—that has a warmth that lends a baked-fruit element I really like, and there isn’t that astringency of uncooked fruit this has. But this is nice. I’m curious what blending it with a chocolate and/or nut tea would do…

Yay, Chuck!

Chuck is a great show! And I’m a little fuzzy-headed from one Apple Smirnoff last night, so I understand the low-tolerance plight!

I’m always late to the party with awesome TV shows ‘cause we don’t have cable! I love it so far—right now I’m lamenting Anna being gone, boo.

Wow, this really reminds me of those sugary sweet canned pears they served in the cafeteria in elementary school. It wasn’t really what I was looking for in a tea, I really wanted a more realistic flavor. I just so happen to be a bit of a pear snob, they’re one of my favorite fruits. I picked up a batch from the apple orchard earlier in the week and they were absolutely delicious!

Anyway…

I didn’t really care for this one hot, it was much better once it had cooled to room temperature so I’ll likely try to cold steep the last of my sample. We are having a heatwave after all, it’s 64°F, but that is perfect trick-or-treating weather.

Hmm… it just dawned on me that I don’t have a costume for tonight, I’d better go put something together. I’m such a procrastinator.

I tried this iced today. The pear flavor is definitely there, but I just have to say that I don’t think it’s for me. If you like pear though, this would be great for you!

Pears were my favourite fruit for a long time, so I had to try this. It smells great. Like getting fresh pears at the market. Brewed- oh, sparkles. Has a nice, crisp fruit flavour. (Need to try this with the apple pie tea.)

Just like many other steepsterites, it seems, I too am on a quest to find the perfect pear tea, along with the perfect grapefruit tea.

Though this definitely is not the perfect pear tea, it does have the most real pear flavour of all the pear teas I’ve tried. Not bad

Any suggestions?

VariaTEA

The de Vendome by Nina’s Paris is a good grapefruit tea and they send out free samples so it is worth looking into

I’ve been on the hunt for a pear tea. This smelled divine when I opened the pouch. The taste, however, leaves a bit to be desired. There is pear, but it doesn’t taste natural and definitely leans towards the perfume side of things. It’s still drinkable, and somewhat enjoyable. Just not what I was looking for. Maybe it would be better iced?
