Chocolate Dipped Apple

Apples: check!
Chocolate: check!
Green/Black tea: not so much in the first steep. Will see what #2 brings.

So the first part of the sip fills my mouth with apple flavour. Baked apples. And then as I swallow, I taste chocolate. Artificial chocolate, but it’s quite noticeable for me. I’m also getting some sort of caramel note.
Adding 1/2 tsp of sugar made things pop alot more. Before that, it was kinda muted but then I should have let the cup cool a bit beforehand.
Also, I need to play around with the parameters here, given that there are two types of tea in the blend. Next time I’ll try boiling, as recommended by DT.

Anyhow! I really had no idea how this tea would taste, but was curious enough to wrangle a sample (obviously). The aroma was similar to DavidsTea’s Mom’s Apple Pie, in my opinion, with some chocolate. And that seems to be about what the flavour is too. I brewed this as a green to prevent bitterness, which seems to have been effective – it’s nice and astringency-free, just chocolatey-apple goodness. That said… definitely not my favourite flavour combination. Although I love homemade apple pie, I’m not super fond of apple pie-flavoured teas… and adding chocolate doesn’t make it a great deal more appealing to me. I’m glad I don’t have to drink any more of this, not that it’s a bad tea, just that it’s not a favourite flavour combo. I think it’s well-enough done that people will find it enjoyable though!

I will do a better tasting note another time but this was a very nice way to wake up this morning!
I’m up far too early and far too fuzzy to really give this tea the review it deserves but yet another win from Della Terra!

i love apple teas. i love chocolate teas.
della terra is bold with the deserts. and you can smell this tea before you even pull the bag out of your purse!
it wasn’t as chocolaty as i was hoping for. but forming expectations is usually my problem anyways. after my first few sips i added a little agave, which is crazy cuz i rarely do that. especially on my first cup.
still, i love apple teas, and this apple tea is a warm apple flavor, as opposed to a fresh apple flavor.
oh wait i just had a crazy idea, what if i added just a tiny sprinkling of PB2?!? omg ! to be continued…

Carrying on down the sweet route …

I’m a little surprised that it smells like cinnamon and spice once it’s steeped, no chocolate nor apple but cinnamon of all things. I imagine the apple must be coated in cinnamon.

Flavour wise I can taste apple and cinnamon but no chocolate. It’s sweet as in fruity sweet and creamy. Maybe if I try really hard I can taste an echo of cocoa in the after taste but from a tea with chocolate in the name I really expected more. It’s a nice enough sweet and spicy apple tea but as far as chocolate is concerned I would not recommend it.

I can finish off this tea without any problem but I am left disappointed by empty promises. Will have to save this one for my husband to try, he loves apple tea and this may be something that he likes more than I do.

This tea fails to remind me of chocolate dipped apples on several levels. First of all, this didn’t have as much chocolate in it as I had hoped for, but since I’m not a huge fan of the chocolate flavoring Della Terra uses, that many not be a bad thing. When I think of chocolate dipped apples I think of something sweeter like Braeburn or Gala apples, which have a milder flavor and are slightly sweet. In my opinion, the flavor completely misses its mark because it is so artificial tasting.

By now you might be thinking that I didn’t enjoy this blend, but that isn’t entirely true. I did like the fact that this was a blend of green and black teas, I think that really added to the flavor. I was also surprised by the fact that once this had cooled off to room temperature the taste somewhat resembled a tart apple cider. All in all I don’t think this was a terrible tea, just not something I plan to reorder any time soon.

Tea #5 from Another Traveling Tea Box

First smelling this I was reminded strongly of the caramel apple pops that you can get usually around Halloween (though I wasn’t able to find any this year /sad/) and I was pretty excited to give this a try.

Brewed I was still getting caramel more than any sort of chocolate smell though, with a vague apple-y hint. Unfortunately the taste doesn’t match the scent. I found it to be rather sour with a strange odd taste that I couldn’t really identify, but that was definitely unpleasant. And it was kinda watery tasting aside from that, even after adding some sugar hoping that it’d bring out the flavors it’s supposed to have.

I’d say that I maybe should try 2 tsp next time, but unfortunately I don’t really have any sort of desire to give this another shot. I might consider grab it in a try-me pack and see if it was just the batch here, but probly not. Maybe I did something wrong since it seems I’m the only one who had an undesirable experience with this tea. I don’t think so, but /shrug/.

Yum, yum, yum! This is very much like Big Apple from David’s Tea, only it is slightly heavier and richer due to the addition of the black tea and chocolate bits. It’s a very very tasty tea(!). It makes me want to try mixing Big Apple with something else, maybe like Love Tea #7 or something.

The chocolate barely came through but I think this was by design. As others have said, this seems to have more green tea which I am okay with. I enjoy apple teas very much, but enjoy others far more.

So far I’m waiting for this to cool down to drink but so far it smells very appley. I’m a bit wary of this because I haven’t met a green tea I’ve liked yet but I keep trying.

This tastes extremely appley but I’m not really picking up any chocolate at all. I can taste the green tea though and although I think it accentuates the apple flavour well, I don’t quite like it, it leaves a strange, unpleasant taste along the back of my tongue and I still have a cup and a v=bit left to drink of it in this steep. One of the hazards of my new tea maker is that I csan only make a minimum of 2 cups worth at a time and I made 3 this time. I did make this with sugar but no milk for this cup and I think I’ll try with milk this next cup.
