Hmm.. this has black tea in it? I don’t really taste it. I thought the green/black blend was really interesting, haven’t had many green/black blends. The apple flavor comes through nicely, but I don’t get a lot of chocolate taste. It’s there, but very subtle. It’s a good tea, but not something I plan on ordering more of.

Sipdown 135/395. Thanks Janelle for the sample.

I would suggest taking this note with a pinch of salt, as it’s at this point a very old tea in my collection and also a very small sample (I’d already drank this a couple of times when it was new and left enough for half a cup) that I underleafed something criminal, forgetting for like the 10th time this week to use less water. It’s okay, and I remember thinking that even when drinking it new and with an appropriate amount of leaf. The chocolate is present in the smell, but not the taste, and the apple is juicy but mild. If I concentrate there’s a slight chocolate note in the aftertaste. The base looks fairly green, with not much black, but it’s not astringent at all. In fact, the base tea is barely noticeable. It’s a simple tea, and I won’t miss it but I am glad to have had the opportunity to try it.

Wow, I have some old teas that I probably shouldn’t be holding on to. How long do they stay good? It might be time to start cleaning out the cupboard!

Either way, I still gave this one a try. I didn’t get a whole lot of flavor (probably because of the age!) so I splashed in some milk and finished it off

How old was this? I was amazed by how much flavour my Della Terra Shamrocks had and it was like 2.5 years old when I finished it off the other week.

Emilie

2.5-3 years probably sounds right. I actually have at least one unopened Della Terra tea so I’m curious to see how that will be!

Fjellrev

I’m curious too! :)

I have made this hot and have cold-steeped it as well. Both of these methods prove to be delicious. When I steeped this hot, the scent of chocolate and apple – a balance of both notes – really permeated the whole room.

The dry tea smelled really delicious. Smelled strongly of apples and chocolate, with a little bit of caramel.
The tea itself was surprisingly refreshing, the apple more prominent, the chocolate more of an aftertaste.

Nothing too special, but overall a nice chocolate tea that doesn’t overwhelm.
