Merci buchu!

Buchu has been flying under the radar for years, but we’re determined to spread the good word about this smooth-drinking herb. Traditionally used as a detox herbal ingredient in its native South Africa, it has a smooth, black currant-like taste that keeps us coming back for more. Here, we paired it with fruity goji berries – the tasty, much-loved super berry from traditional Chinese medicine. This is one detox ritual we could definitely get used to.

Ingredients:
Organic: Black currants, blackberry leaves, green rooibos, goji berries, strawberries, buchu, blueberries, acai, stevia extract. With natural acai and raspberry flavouring.

Price per 50g: $9.50

This smells delicious, like juicy, ripe blackberries. It also tastes VERY sweet, very artificial.

So gross. Very strong artificial flavor. Couldn’t get past the first sip.

Sweetened! I didn’t realize this has stevia in it until I started to drink it. My fault, but totally bummed. I don’t like sweet teas at all. But if you like sugar sweet teas you’ll love this! Its not bitter or tart like some fruity teas can be… this one is just straight up sweet.

At first smell, this tea is sooo sweet. My mouth watered when I had a whiff of it. Once brewed though? Bleck. The first couple of sips were okay, but the stevia in this just left a weird aftertaste in my mouth and I couldn’t finish my cup. I gave it another try since it wasn’t very pleasant hot, so I tried cold brewing it overnight. This tea is definitely much better iced, but still leaves a lot to be desired. I’ll finish off the rest of my 25g or give it to a friend, but I’m not going to be buying anymore.

I had this as a sample at the Toronto Tea Festival yesterday. And thank god I got to try some without shelling money for it, because I disliked this.

Maybe it’s just me, but this reminded me an awful lot of cough syrup. The stevia didn’t help.

OMGsrsly

Maybe someone at DavidsTea has misspelled it. sTEAvia. So it just goes into everything because it’s tea, right? ;)

Another one i had while at the festival. I remember a vague berry flavour – nothing too exciting but nothing terrible either. Basically it was nice enough to taste but i don’t feel inclined to ever get more haha

This is sweet and a different type of berry tea than I’m used to, there’s no tart hibiscus flavor to this which is strange.
There is definitely stevia in this, it’s sweet in a strange way and the flavor is more similar to raspberry leaf rather than the berry flavor. I can taste the black currant and the blackberry/raspberry leaf, the rooibos is overshadowed by the leaf but generally it’s okay.

This tea smells delicious! Very fruity. It would be awesome if DT made lip butter with this tea. It tastes equally as amazing! I am not usually a fan of stevia but I don’t mind it in this tea at all.
