From DAVIDsTEA

This all-natural blend of stone-ground matcha and pure coconut nectar is the easiest, most convenient way to make your favourite green tea drinks. It’s already sweetened, so all you need to do is decide what you want to make. You can blend it with milk and ice for an amazing smoothie, froth it with milk for a latte, or add a spoonful to your next milkshake for a real treat. Looks like you’ve got some seriously tasty experimenting to do.

Thank you Kawaii433! I think this is the first time I have had a Davids matcha? I like this combination though! Sweetened with coconut nectar, I think this is the choice of sweetening matcha that is the most okay with me. Brewing it, I started with green tea temp water, but when I saw how much matcha was in the sample for a mug, as I was sipping, I just kept adding cold water to the mug. A LOT of water to dilute all that matcha. This matcha is MURKY. Like olive green murky. But tastes fine with this lovely mint flavor. A great combination of flavors. I wouldn’t mind trying more of David’s matcha like this… It was a nice change of pace for today! Now to steep up some puerh for the afternoon….

I’ve really been loving their matcha this last year or two! I’m glad you’ve had the chance to try it!

tea-sipper

Yep, now I want to try all of their matchas. haha. At the moment I happen to be drinking a tea you sent over, AJRimmer! :D

Roswell Strange

It’s more murky than our other matchas because of the more naturally brown colour of the coconut nectar ;)

tea-sipper

OH ok, thanks for explaining that. I didn’t mind the murkiness, I just hadn’t seen a matcha like that before.

Whipped this one up this morning after a few steep sessions of an oolong. I do like the mint flavor so I don’t have to add anything further to the matcha. I’d love to try a straight matcha that won’t go bitter on me super quick. But this will do in a pinch. I love the mint flavor because it’s not in your face to me, but it’s there and it’s enough to save the matcha from bitter city.

I love mint and I’ve been wanting to try matcha, so this seemed like a good way to try it out. When I opened the bag it smelled like iced tea powder? Unexpected, but ok. The matcha “powder” was more like granules, which was also unexpected. Prepared it as an iced latte by shaking 2oz warm water and matcha powder (two teaspoons) in a 1/2 pint mason jar for a minute, then I topped off the jar with milk and shook that for another 30 seconds. If I make it again this way I’ll use a full pint jar so I can get the milk really frothy. Poured it over ice in a 24oz cup and voila!

I actually ended up drinking a couple big gulps to make room for some more matcha as it was quite weak. Just added another heaping teaspoon and a splash of water in the jar, shook, and added that to the cup. It’s still really mild! I think the milk is just overpowering everything. I do get a nice cooling mint sensation at the end of the sip but I’m mostly tasting milk with a teeny tiny hint of grass. The grass taste might be making the milk taste extra cow-y in fact… not super pleasant. I bought 50g of this so I’ll have to try it with a non-dairy option and see if that helps. I have other teas I’d like to try with almond/coconut milks so it all works out. Overall, not bad but I think I can play around with it and make it more to my liking. I’m eyeing up Red Leaf Teas reviews… may have to try them as well!

Note: as I got closer to the bottom and the latte was watered down more, the mint started to taste stronger! I’ll do 50/50 water to milk next time and see if this helps!

This one is minty and sweet, but not too grassy which is nice. I’ve had my small amount for quite a while so I’m trying to use it up, but I definitely don’t grab for it very often. I much prefer the vanilla and the fruity ones that they’ve had. I really hope strawberry makes a comeback because YUM!

Minty coconut… I’m not entirely sure if I like this one. Trying it cold for the first time. I’ll try it hot later at home to see if I like it more that way. Still an interesting cup of matcha.

Autistic Goblin

A few sips later and I’m getting more mint out of it. Still have to think on it though.

I was a little disappointing with this Tea with my first glass. The colour and quality of it compared to other Matcha is low. However after having a couple glasses Its actually really nice with the flavoring.

I normally sift my matcha and this matcha is a little more sandy and hard then more expensive and does not separate well. It does mix and whisk nicely but is not nearly as creamy or throthy as DavidTeas Ceremonial Matcha.

I really liked this matcha as a shot and in my smoothie. You can definitely taste the mint but it is not overpowering. Very delicious.

I’ve been making almond milk lattes with this and they’re delicious every time! No sweetener needed because it’s lightly sweetened with coconut sugar.

Be warned though, it’s definitely not a true matcha and doesn’t have the same strong earthy taste, so I wouldn’t opt for this if I was in a true matcha mood. Still very tasty and great when you just need to relax

1/3 in a Matcha Single Serves package that I bought. This is definitely not the best matcha I’ve tasted! I’ve custom ordered peppermint green tea lattes at Starbucks before, so I know that mint should be able to coexist with matcha in a single drink, but the taste of this packet is just awful. And, yes, Starbucks adds sugar to their lattes, so of course the comparison is not perfect. However, when compared to pure Japanese green tea matcha that I regularly purchase at a Japanese supermarket, this packet falls short too.

This wasn’t as tasty as I expected. Tasted kinda strange. Not terrible but not THE BEST… not sure I’d buy it again I think it would have to be a ‘craving it’ type buy. xP
