From DAVIDsTEA

Lately, everyone seems to be buzzing about this tea. But who can blame them? With so many super-energizing ingredients, it’ll probably get you buzzing, too. It’s got the stimulating kick of guarana, matcha and yerba mate, plus a hint of white ginseng – Chinese medicine’s key to vital energy. Add super-healthy green tea, zesty citrus and a spicy hint of ginger, and you’ve got an energizing blend you can feel great about drinking.

I got this as part of the “daily resolution” sampler. I noticed the ginger first, my husband noticed the lemon first. Not sure we are too big on yerba mate teas, wasn’t too crazy about Jumpy Monkey either.

Reviewing in retrospect.
There was a bizarre fake-sweet aftertaste (from the guarana? reminded me of 5 hour energy) that I could not, for the life of me, get over.

This is like a glorified version of neocitran, not saying it’s not good but expect an extreme lemon taste, hints of ginger and not much else. I can say that this tea did give me a caffeine boost when I needed it (10 page term paper at 2am? no problem) so using it instead of energy drinks could be healthier.

Wooo, ginger explosion! This tea has a strong ginger flavour that hits you both up front and as a dull burn aftertaste. In between are mellow notes of citrus to lighten the load. Adding any sort of sweetener made this spacey tea quite unpleasant and I would not recommend doing so. Overall a very zesty and invigorating selection for all those long tiring days.

I got distracted by customers and let this sit for well over 30 minutes. Maybe a shorter steep would have made the citrus flavour evident, but right now I am mainly getting ginger, ginger and ginger. That’s not a bad thing though! Nothing settles an upset tummy/indigestion quite like ginger tea and I often grate and brew it straight. This tastes much like when I make it myself, without the work. If you love the burn of ginger, let it sit. ETA: no buzz, kinda made me sleepy actually (in a warm and cozy sort of way), though that hardly surprises me, caffeine never gives me energy.

Love this as a wake up call! It is warm with that ginger, so be careful on oversteeping! I throw a tiny bit of sweetener in, and off I go!

The ginger in this tea reaaaaaallly burns! I like it. I would certainly drink it on days when I am sick but still need to get up. I like the lemongrass in it too, and the smell of the dry leaves is quite pleasant. I did not want to purchase it at first (I don’t really remember why) but it seems to have grown on me.

Super caffienated with one heck of a ginger burn at the end! I couldn’t taste much other than the ginger, but that hardly matters, because it will wake you up AND burn any nascent cold or ick out of your head/face/throat. An awesome kick in the pants.

My class finished early today and I decided to treat myself to some tea. I’ve been wanting to try this tea for quite some time now, so I figured, what the heck! In hindsight it probably was not the best tea to purchase at 9:00pm…

It is very gingery. I like ginger though so this works for me! It is quite strong though so if you aren’t a huge ginger fan or aren’t used to the taste of it you might find it kind of overpowering. I don’t think this is as citrusy as I was expecting it to be but there is definitely a little bit of lemon coming through. For some reason I kind of taste honey in this….there is a sweet element that I can’t quite put my finger on. It is good though! Even with the sweetness I think that this tea is a little bitter (I sound like I’m contradicting myself but it makes sense to me! haha). I added an agave stick which made it soooo much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend doing this.

This was my first experience with Mate. The Buzz was enjoyable, and I will be drinking it again for sure. However, I probably will only do so when I need a real pick-me-up. I’m not used to this much caffeine hahaha. Very yummy with sweetner though, so I might purchase a small stash for myself.

Hey everyone!

Sorry for my sudden absence from Steepster. I’ve started medical school, and it’s a whole new world out here. I gave away the vast majority of my tea collection before the big move, and am now left with a more limited (though still quite impressive in my opinion) collection of favourites from home.

This one in particular has been getting me through the early mornings before long days of class. It’s been so hot out that I haven’t felt much like drinking coffee when I wake up. I find this tea a refreshing alternative that gives me somewhat the same caffeine buzz. It’s definitely going to be a staple of mine.

Really, you can’t go wrong with lemon and ginger. They’re two of my tea favourites combined with enough caffeinated good stuff that it has a kick. The taste is nothing mind blowing or new, but it’s a solid tea choice that I quite enjoy.
