From DAVIDsTEA

Panda-monium

Lately bamboo seems to be popping up everywhere, from the runways to the kitchen. No wonder – it’s sustainable and fast-growing. Plus pandas love it. But that’s not all. According to Ayurvedic belief, bamboo has cooling properties, and drinking a bamboo infusion can release heat from the body. What could be better on a hot summer day? Especially when it’s topped up with the juicy flavours of pineapple and peach. Add it all up and you’ve got a summer drink any panda would love.

Ingredients: Pineapple, bamboo leaves, peach, apple, peach crunchy, peony petals, rose buds, artificial flavouring*.

Price: $7.50 per 50g

At first, I thought this tea was delicious. It has a great pinneaple flavour and the bamboo leaves gives it a really unique taste. But after a while, I got tired of the strange aftertaste it has.

Read this in the tea book and thought it sounded great! Went in and smelled it and did it ever smell “fun”. It tastes just as good as it smells! It’s a nice, mild, calm, fruity blend. It’s not overwhelming at all and is slightly cooling like they say. Very delicious!

Tried this iced in the store yesterday with a bit of agave and I really liked it! Even flash frozen, when all the ice was melted, it kept all its flavour. I’m not sure if that’s due to the artificial flavouring in this, and I’m once again side-eyeing David’s for that decision, but this is one of their new blends that I actually do enjoy. I may pick some up to brew myself.

I tried this in the mall today on ice and loved it. Bought a bag and already have the tea in the fridge:)

Tried this one iced today. As I noticed when my hot cup had cooled down a little, this tea tastes very different cold. I don’t really notice the fruitiness and the taste reminds me of a cross between green tea and camomile. It’s not unpleasant, but having never been a fan of camomile I’m not a huge fan. Definitely prefer this one rather hot which brings out the peach.

Well, we are finally at the end, Bamboozled. I tried my best to convince David’s Tea not to discontinue you, to no avail. Bought a ton while I could and made it last longer than I expected. And now that summer is starting to wind down, I’ll drink the last of you, and raise my glass in honor of your unfailingly refreshing pineapple-y goodness. Bye-bye, Bamboozled! It was nice knowin’ ya!

Sipdown! I didn’t find this one to be overly flavorful. Cold brewed for a day or so.

I could have underleafed (rather, overwatered) but I also don’t know what bamboo tastes like and it’s possible that maybe it just didn’t add much to the mix.

It had a weird background taste and I wasn’t getting much fruity deliciousness out of my cup.

Wouldn’t bother restocking, not when Tropicalia exists as a pineappley iced tea!

Roswell Strange

Can’t restock anyway, this one was discontinued. And Tropicalia will be challenging to get more of as well; it was seasonal.

Memily

Double burn.

That may be true but I will eat my hat if they don’t bring Tropicalia back as one of the summer teas!

Roswell Strange

Are you flat out of your Tropicalia? If they bring it back I can pass a little on to you; I have a whole bunch hoarded. It’s a favourite of mine, too.

I have 25 grams left :)
man I hope they bring it back!

First of all, bamboozled is a fun word. Almost as fun as lackadaisical, which is one of my favorite words. And I’ve never had a bamboo tisane before!
Dry, this tisane smells peachy and pineapple-y in about equal parts and like something else that I can’t quite identify. While brewing, the peach smell takes over and the others fade to the background. The mouthfeel of this tisane is very interesting. It is refreshing and feels like I’ve just had a sip of mint tea without tasting like it at all. The feeling on my tongue is almost exactly the same. While all that is happening, there’s some peach breezing by with a tiny pineapple tagalong. The fruit flavors become more apparent as the tea cools. I like it a lot! Especially for the summer, which may decide to make an appearance in Minneapolis at some point before the next 8 months of winter. One can only hope.
Thank you Virginia for this very interesting sample!

Omg I’m so glad you like it! I get some light artificial banana notes when I drink it, and I was afraid you would hate it. It’s probably just my confused tastebuds though, ’cause no one else mentioned that banana taste in their reviews.
