From DAVIDsTEA

Berry home companion
Though you won’t find them at most supermarkets, Saskatoon berries are a big part of prairie life – in fact, the city is named after the berry, not the other way around. Somewhere between a cranberry and a blueberry, Saskatoon berries have been central to local prairie cuisine since well before the first settlers. And this fruity oolong blend is a celebration of the beloved berry. Jam-packed with Saskatoon berries and cranberries, and sweetened with maple syrup, it makes for a warm cup of prairie hospitality.

Ingredients: Oolong tea, cranberries, dehydrated maple syrup, Saskatoon berries, blue mallow blossoms.

I was looking forward to making this tea when I received it, but finally made it on a night where studying and papers were my main objective. The dry smell is strong with berries with a hint of maple. It’s wonderful! The color of the brew looks a bit light to me and the taste is kind of light. I think I have to check my water temperature for the next cup, because I estimated this one due to crunched time.

Overall it is really good! I get a good balance of berries, maple, and oolong. I just wanted a bit more flavor out of this one, so I think I’ll watch how I brew the next cup. I’ve never had Saskatoon berries, though I am enjoying the berry flavor in this. Since I found out they grow Saskatoon berries in northern Michigan, I may have to try some when I head up there this summer! I’ll update this after I make another cup.

I’ve never had a Saskatoon berry but this tea is perfection in my cup! The hint of maple flavourful along with the oolong goodness as its base makes this tea great!! I can’t get enough of this tea :)
This is one of the staples in my tea cupboard

This tea is so yum. Very berry-y, and not bitter when steeped for about 4 minutes. I just might have to buy 100 g of this on my next trip to DAVIDsTEA…

I can see why this one is compared to Blueberry Jam, but I like it nonetheless. I do get the maple notes, and the dark oolong base doesn’t bother me like I would normally expect it to (i.e. Carrot Cake).

I was very surprised by this blend! It smells quite sweet, as it has maple syrup and Saskatoon berries, and initially I thought it wasn’t my cup of tea (so to speak) but I thought it made a delicious iced tea, I have yet to try it hot.
I would recommend trying it unsweetened first!

Thanks to Helen11 for this lovely sample!

First off it smells quite lovely…although it was packed with Davids Tea Main Sqeeze as well, lol…but we’re definitely off to a wonderful start:)

Brewed…well I couldn’t quite taste anything sweet or fruity about it…just tea. I did about 1DTP worth (a slight bit less then level since I have only enough for two cups worth). I am glad though I didn’t really taste any of the artificial flavoring (which has been happening often for me with Davids Tea unfortunately :( ).

I wouldn’t mind ordering a small amount of this next time I place a Davids Tea order just to test it over the long term.

I LOVE this one. I had it to go the other day when I went to the mall. I got it when I first went in and as I was leaving picked some more up to bring home. This tea had a few sour notes to it but they were not overpowering and the tea still had a sweetness to it. This is one for the permanent collection.

Smell: All Berry.
Taste: This is totally reminding me of all of the berry bubble gum I loved as a kid, bringing me back in time. I don’t really taste any of the maple syrup in here, but then again I don’t feel like reaching for the sugar; this seems sufficiently sweet by itself. I don’t like many fruity flavored teas, but I would re-order this.

A berry nice tea!

The very first sip of this hot tastes of blueberries and maple syrup, almost like blue berry pancakes.
Of course there are no blueberries in the tea, but that is definitely the most prominent berry flavor.

As it cools further, it is an indistinct but delightful berry tea, with the bright flavor of berry, without being over powering.

If you are looking for a Blueberry Oolong I would recommend this. If you tried David’s Tea – Blueberry Muffin , it tastes just like that but without the overwhelming sweetness.

Flavors: Blueberry, Maple Syrup

This tea was just ok for me but I wouldn’t reach for another cup.
