From DAVIDsTEA

A sweet offering
There are hundreds of reasons to love strawberries, but our favourite comes from Bavaria. Every spring, they tie small baskets of strawberries to the horns of their cattle to attract berry-loving elves. Legend has it, with the elves on your side you’re sure to have an abundant year. So when you enjoy a pot of this sweet, berry-laced tea, try leaving a cup on your doorstep. You never know what your neighbourhood elves will leave in return.

Ingredients: Bai Mu dan white tea from China, strawberries, rosehips, white Silver Needles from China, hibiscus, stevia.

Backlog from yesterday, coldbrew sipdown (381/359, due to replacing our Kokomo green yesterday).

I remembered seeing this on the wall the other day, so I wanted to try our little package of it before we headed to Davids and see if I needed to stock up.

It’s very good, exactly as advertised. A sweet strawberry with white tea. It’s tasty, but since I have a 100g of blazing strawberries to satisfy my coldbrew strawberry cravings, it’s not one I feel the need to stock up on. It’s just good, not amazing.

Oh Sweet Strawberry… Once upon a time I used to work for DAVIDsTEA (It was short lived, but I still am a faithful DAVIDsTea purchaser… Retail is not for me. It quite literally is like hell on earth). As I was about to leave, I, of course, had to do a mass shopping spree. Now this was taunting me and decided since I was getting at my discount I would buy it anyway. As I was getting my manager to weigh it out, she was crinkling her nose, and looking at it in a dirty diaper-esk way. She said she hated it because it tasted like a tomato… I had to agree that a tomato tea would be completely off putting. Regardless, I bought it.

I can see how she would say tomato because it has a tangy smell, but it does taste like strawberries, but not strawberry in a sense that you would imagine when drinking strawberry juice. It taste like a natural strawberry (berry, tangy, fresh). There is a hint of grass from the white tea base, but I actually quite like it. I have only had it hot with a touch of agave (to cut a bit of the tang), I would imagine that this would make an nice iced tea as well. I’ll keep you posted when I am able to try it iced. (Im in canada and its -30 celcius, so iced is not in the near future… give it a few months, hahaha)

Back when I was first getting into tea I stuck mostly to Green tea and Black tea. When I started branching out Sweet Strawberry was the first White tea that I tried -and I loved it! I love White tea because of how mild it is -while still being extremely flavorful. And this tea is no exception, you can really taste the strawberry but it is not overpowering. All in all a lovely tea.

This tea is okay. I prefer blazing strawberries, and strawberry ginger because they have that little extra that gave the teas a more distinct flavour, and also strengthened the blends. This one is quite weak, but is nice both hot and iced. I like it if I am not in the mood for something heavy.. This is a nice desert tea after a big meal for sure!!

i think i messed this one up.
really didn’t like it much hot, (which was surprising, because i really love Davids Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble hot, but maybe that’s because of all of the other warm flavours like cinnamon, etc. oh well, that one is still a winner as far as strawberry teas go!), so i iced it, but i over sweetened and i couldn’t drink it at all.
so, no rating yet, this is just for my notes. i’ll try again later!!

I LOVE this tea. I originally bought it as a replacement for my Pom Power tea and I was hoping it would live up to my expectations. The strawberry flavor is so light and delicate and goes perfectly with the rosehips and hibiscus. I prefer the tea iced, and it’s perfect for summer.

I had this one as a cup to-go today with just a touch of agave. This was my first time trying this one and they did a great job naming it…it sure is sweet! I find that it tastes almost artificially sweet, kind-of like those strawberry candies. With that said, I would drink it again but I dont like it enough to buy any (especially for the price of white teas).
