From DAVIDsTEA

If you’re into coconut, then you know that the soft inner part of the young nuts is the ultimate delicacy. Some call it coconut cream. Others call it heaven. Either way, capturing its flavour is considered the ultimate culinary feat. And this tea manages it. A blend of delicious white Bai Mu Dan tea and young coconut, it’s the ultimate taste of summer. Especially when iced and spiked with rum.

I bought this on the recommendation of Jeremy at David’s Tea, I love coconut but i’ve found that most coconut teas aren’t quite meeting my wanted level of cocnuttyness.

the dry leaves smell like coconut but not as strong as i would of liked.

Steeped the smell is much stronger and I’m starting to get excited!

the taste delivers! is perfectly coconut, strong but not sickening, just right!
I’m picturing myself on a beach right now….most definitely going to try spiking this with some rum on the weekend!

I quite like this. I was worried it was one of those teas meant to be iced, with a strange taste when hot. But it’s quite good. It’s smooth and subtle. Coconutty but not too sweet is a nice change.

I’ve had this in my cupboard for a while now. I love coconut so I was super excited when I first bought it. But, there was something about it that I didn’t like as a hot tea. It was so long ago that I can’t remember what it was that turned me off.

I rediscovered it yesterday as I was trying to decide what to make for iced tea. It can’t hurt to try, right? So it was a little more than double in my Takeya tea maker. After 7 minutes, poured into the Takeya iced tea maker filled with ice. Also added 3/4 cup of simple syrup. This is sooooo delicious! It’s like that overpriced coconut water that I love but can’t justify buying. I think I’ve found my fave summer iced tea.

Too bad I can’t get anymore White Malibu when my stash is out :(

Strange, I think this batch was stale, but it kind of tasted like what coconut grove tastes like… not a fan.

Teavangelical

since it was discontinued over a year ago, I would guess your leaves are stale :( that’s too bad, it was pretty lovely when it was good.

I really enjoy this tea. It’s not the tea I’d choose in the morning (when I want a hit of caffeine and strong flavour) – this is an awesome afternoon sipper.
I bet it tastes yummy iced, and maybe even with rum.

I suspect this one will become a staple in my household.

‘Twas a summer offering, was it not? I don’t think this tea is available throughout the year.

Sure smells like I should splash some Rum in there.
It’s tasty enough, but I’m left wanting. It’s more like sweet, hot water with some coconut flavour than anything else.
I think it boils down to me not being that much of a white tea fan.
Too desserty.
Not as manly and WAKE-UPy as I had wanted to accompany me while I work late into the night.

I really should have read my last tasting notes before making a big ol’ cup of this tea to sit beside me while I work late into the night again. Tsk. For pete’s sake…

This tea reminds me of the Caribbean, which is pretty awesome considering I’m close to staring a Canadian Winter in the face.

What I love about white tea is the subtle taste and ‘White Malibu’ delivers just that with a sweet hint of coconut. If that on it’s own isn’t enough to make you love this tea, the fact that it smells just like rum ought to!

I enjoyed mine hot with sugar, but I think what I’d really like is to try it the way David’s Tea suggests: Iced, with a dash of rum…and sipped from a straw out of half a coconut (held by a cabana boy.)
